A very prolific children's and young-adult author, Jean Craighead George (July 2, 1919 – May 15, 2012) literally wrote over a hundred books over the course of 60+ years.

Her favourite subjects to write about were nature, wildlife and ecology, but she had quite a bit of Xenofiction under her belt as well. A couple of her books earned Newbery awards in the past, with at least one of them entering the education system as study media.
