Happily, Your Highness! Born John Jay Bosch, Johnny Yong Bosch (Fan Abbreviation: JYB)is a former Mighty Morphin Power Rangers star (he was a frog) who has since moved on to Anime voice acting, starting as Vash the Stampede in Trigun, and has since moved on to other lead roles. This coincidentally pitted him as the star and hero for the only two new anime Adult Swim was running for a year and a half- this streak ended when Code Geass completed its run in May 2009. This plus the earlier run of Eureka Seven led many to call the starting anime block "The JYB Power Hour". When combined with his role as Ichigo in Bleach, Adult Swim meant two things: shows from Williams Street, and shows starring JYB. He is the vocalist for his own band, Eyeshine. Oh yeah... and he's also an accomplished martial artist and could kick your ass! And since Vic Mignogna got fired due to allegations of harassment, Bosch became the new voice of Broly from Dragon Ball.
His Japanese vocal equivalent is Masakazu Morita, their voices have identical ranges. His career path on the other hand, mirrors Masaya Matsukaze. Fans may sometimes compare him to Jun Fukuyama since he shares four roles with Jun (Albert Morcerf from Gankutsuou, Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass, Haruto Sakaki from Witch Hunter Robin, and Juto from Magna Carta).

- Bishonen: He's voiced quite a few of them. Vash, Itsuki, Lelouch, and Sasori are a few examples.

- But Not Too Foreign: Word of God, he's half-Korean [1].
- Dumb Is Good: If a Bosch-character is good, he's generally not very bright; if a Bosch character is smart, he's generally not very good.
- Ichigo Kurosaki is an interesting aversion to this trope, because while he's got the Leeroy Jenkins thing down he's actually quite intelligent, both in school and in battle. This totally applies to Ichigo's Super-Powered Evil Side, though.
- Full-Name Basis: A lot of people say his full name when talking about him. Even on this wiki.
- One exception was in the first few episodes of Power Rangers where he was introduced, when he was credited under John Bosch.
- The Hero: His primary forte. As he once noted in an interview, it was his "perfect Hero Voice" that landed him his first anime voice acting role.
- Hot-Blooded: Also part of his primary forte, though ironically in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (a series known for being a World of Ham) he voices Rossiu, The Spock amongst the cast.
- Kid Hero: ever since his Playing Against Type role of Renton Thurston, he has been getting some roles where he uses a higher-pitch voice that casts him into younger characters. From Emil, Almaz, Sakura Kusakabe, and recently Xiba, they all have whiny higher pitch voice in stark contrast to the HotBloodedness hams he had like Vash the Stampede and Ichigo Kurosaki.
- Large Ham: Most of his voice acting makes the characters larger than life to the point of Superlative Dubbing.
- Not Even Bothering with the Accent: While he's capable of pulling off a high-pitch voice like Renton Thurston, he has yet played any role that involves pulling off an accent. That was until:
- He has spoken in a completely different language in a dub - Being Izaya's voice actor required him to speak in Russian for a few lines. It sounds near perfect compared to Izaya's original voice.
- Similarly, while still easily recognizable, he also attempted a Japanese accent in Binary Domain as Kurosawa. Seeing that he had worked a lot of anime titles in the past, it's no surprise he manage to pick this accent up quickly.
- Pigeonholed Voice Actor: due to him being typecast either into the Bishonen or Hot-Blooded Hammy heroes
- He has range if you get past Shonen Jump and Adult Swim roles. Notably Claus, Renton, Adachi, Claire, Itsuki, and now Izaya.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Since his vocal range is limited due to typecasting, his voice acting is easily the most recognizable by many fans, even when he is supposed to be playing against the type.
- Subverted with the title character from Soul Eater, he was misattributed to this character before it was later announced that the newcomer Micah Solusod is voicing Soul. [1]
- To hammer this example out, Micah Solusod's performance on Lizst in Ookami-san sounds exactly like Johnny Yong Bosch's performance as Itsuki. And to make this a Hilarious in Hindsight context, Micah will be replacing Johnny Yong Bosch's role as Kazuki in the recent Fafner film adaption dub.
- Likewise with Pit in Kid Icarus Uprising (actually Antony Del Rio). This case is interesting because it persisted even after Johnny stated that he did not voice Pit.

- Relationship Voice Actor: Usually plays either alongside or opposite to Yuri Lowenthal.
- Also worked with Crispin Freeman in many of the voice acting work, either as a steadfast ally (or understudy) or overly smug rival.
- As well as inferior.
