2 Fakes, One dead, One disappeared?

  • During the fiasco of entities pretending to be Shamsiel in order to turn the people of Edelland against her, there are 2 different entities that are summoned forth. Initially, they are both identical in appearance (the blue haired, flat chested version), but after a botched attack on Vunderbalt, the first one transforms herself to look and sound exactly like the real Shamsiel, except having red eyes. Then, while Lute is visiting Vunderbalt, the 2 fakes break out of their summoning jars and go out to attack people. The "Fake Shamsiel" goes to Bustenhalter castle where she kills at least 10 soldiers. Meanwhile, the fake succubus (blue hair), goes to Vunderbalt to try and kill Lute once more, but the real Shamsiel and soldiers of Vunderbalt manage to capture her. However, seconds later, the fake succubus tells them that if they capture a familiar like her, she would just disappear, which she does. The next night, Lute and his group are back in Vunderbalt confronting the fake Shamsiel in the cathedral. There they had found 3 broken jars, one for a group of ghouls, one for the fake Shamsiel, and one for the fake succubus (blue hair). Eventually, after battling them for a while, Lute opens Pandora's Box, and gets help from Saint Reaper, who loses a bet and takes on the task of getting rid of the fake Shamsiel and ghouls. What I don't get, and what is never explained is what happened to the fake succubus? Her jar was destroyed and she went berserk obeying the last order given to her which was to kill Lute. Did her disappearance when they captured her mean she was gone for good or is it possible that she is still alive somehow? The other jars were destroyed and their inhabitants still appeared again the night after they (the jars) had been broken. There is also the fact that Emeralia says that Berserk familiars cannot die, and that if they are struck down, they will just revive, AND with their jars broken, they aren't able to be sealed back up.

Demons in Royalty

  • One of the major topics the story deals with is Shamsiel's worthiness of being a queen. Foreign nobles and royalty, and many members of the Church of Holy Rood are quite skeptical if not downright against her being allowed to hold a direct position of power in a nation's royal family. However, at the same time, the Church of Holy Rood's Cardinals mention that not only have THEY actually found that there are demons who just seek peaceful co-existence with humanity, they also acknowledge that they are aware that ALL of the nations' royal families on the entire continent are mixed with half-human, half-demon rulers, and yet they only go after Shamsiel? In order for the royal families of the various kingdoms to have hybrid children (that currently rule), means that at one point or another it was very likely that other demons were married into royal families with humans, and thus giving birth to part-human, part-demon descendants, but again... Why then do they only have a problem with Shamsiel's credibility?
    • Part of the answer in Shamsiel's case is that some of the Cardinals, such as Nigolinov and Canossa were being ordered to instigate the issue by Marquis Cuvier who wanted to damage not only Shamsiel, but Lute AND Edelland's reputations amongst the major powers of the continent. It's extremely ironic in Fronce's case, because Queen Aphrodia is actually 3/4 demonic (her father was half-demon and her mother was a fairy), but the issue was only brought forward to use against Shamsiel.
    • Apart from the manipulation by Marquis Cuvier, another possible reason why Shamsiel stood out was the fact that Shamsiel WAS known to have killed 10 men back in Boan shortly before the start of the first game's story. Also, Shamsiel is a succubus, and as she likes to point out: Succubi are the 2nd highest of all demon species, so for her to be in a position of authority COULD be seen as a way of shifting the balance of power in the continent, because IF she held such weight over other demons, they might have thought that perhaps she could rally many, if not ALL other demons to serve Edelland. That kind of thinking is also very likely a part of why Shamsiel STILL hasn't told Lute that he is half-human, half-incubus, because this quality means that he is technically the King of All Demons, so if they saw Shamsiel as a threat, they would see Lute as far worse.

Aphrodia and Cuvier's goals for Lute

  • Marquis Cuvier takes numerous steps to do things that he feels would be beneficial to Fronce, such as trying to help Lingobard to go to war with Edelland, so the two nations would destroy themselves in the process, and then Fronce would easily manage to take over them both. Meanwhile, Queen Aphrodia is trying to avoid any forms of armed conflict unless absolutely necessary as a last resort. At one point, they make a sort of compromise on how to handle relations with Edelland after it had just annexed Lingobard. Marquis Cuvier convinces the queen to let him send troops to the border they share with former-Lingobard-now-Edelland, but nothing more, and she also allows him to impose a trade ban/tariff on the import of Edelland goods, especially bras. Marquis Cuvier makes it clear that these acts were meant to force Lute to go to Fronce in person to negotiate with them, AND he plans to try to have Lute killed during his stay. The Queen was aware of ALL of this, and yet... She had taken it upon herself to meet Lute in Boan BEFORE he would make the trip to Fronce, so they could meet. After the encounter, she finds herself impressed by him, and gives him a slight warning to be careful when they next meet (in Fronce). When Lute finally does go to Fronce, Cuvier sends some ghouls to try and kill Lute on his first night, but Shamsiel and Gladys stop them. The next day, Lute formally introduces himself to the queen and he manages to convince her to have the trade bans/tariffs all lifted in a matter of minutes by presenting her with special gifts (fancy bras). The confusing part is that from this point on, she likes Lute and treats him with more respect, and yet she doesn't actually make Marquis Cuvier call off his plans against Lute until a bit later, when Lute manages to save her life from a Cyclops. Why didn't she do that sooner?

Medieval Instant-Messaging?

  • At several points in the story, Lute and his group travel across the kingdom of Edelland from city to city, and across the continent from Edelland to other kingdoms... Usually they say things like it takes a day or so to travel from certain places to others. Other times it can take over a week or two to reach a certain location. That's all fine, except that there are points in the story where news-worthy events apparently spread not just across the kingdom, but across the continent in what seems like hours following them. Such as Lute's defeat of the golem reaching Marquis Cuvier seemingly the same night the attack took place, and the distance between the 2 places is said to be a 2 week journey. How do they get messages around THAT fast? In Lute's case, Shamsiel could easily travel across the lands with her flight and semi-warp abilities, but seemingly no other person has access to that quick a means of transportation. How are they getting the news so quickly?
    • Possible explanations, especially in Cuvier's case, could be the use of pigeon post, dedicated couriers that can travel several times faster than normal travelers, and most importantly, magic. Being an expert magician, it isn't far stretch to believe Cuvier knows some spells that can help transporting messages instantly. It is also possible for other countries to obtain crucial messages and news with the help of magic as well.

Shamsiel in Cuvier's Room

  • When Lute, Shamsiel, Gladys, and Motaire travel to Fronce to negotiate with Aphrodia, Shamsiel goes to scout out the palace. She returns and says that there are 3 rooms she is unable to enter: Queen Aphrodia's room, Count Roche's room, and Marquis Cuvier's room. Yet, later on when Lute and the others go to be introduced to Marquis Cuvier, she has no problem entering?
    • The most likely explanation would be that Cuvier took down the barrier temporarily, because it would have been suspicious if he left it up while she was supposed to be doing an official visit, and then he reactivates the barrier once the official greeting is over.
