Kyonyuu Fantasy Gaiden/Heartwarming

For starters, the relationships between Lute and the women in his harem are each heartwarming, but add in the fact that they seem to have developed pleasant relationships among themselves is also pleasant in and of itself...
- Roxanne and Luceria for example have formed a close friendship, and are almost always seen hanging out together. When one considers they both used to deal with being isolated for years, it's nice to see them opening up to more than just Lute.
- Emeralia and Shamsiel too share a nice relationship with both sides helping the other, such as when Shamsiel was being falsely accused of the attacks of the fake succubus and fake Shamsiel, Emeralia doesn't doubt Shamsiel for a second even saying that if anyone wanted to harm Shamsiel, they'd have to kill her first.
- Shamsiel and Gladys have a bit of a rivalry when it comes to getting close to Lute, but they still respect each other to give each their time with him when they feel it's right.
- Isis doesn't quite get as much screen time as the rest, but it's clear that at the very least, she and the others ARE on very good terms.
  - Speaking of Isis, she and her ex-fiance Motaire seem to have gotten past their previous arrangement and are now at the very least comrades in arms. Motaire is seemingly dating someone else (NOT his former groupies), and Isis is with Lute 100% as a part of his harem.
During the celebration in Boan after Lute defeats the Wraith, Shamsiel was approached by, showered with compliments by, and danced with many of the soldiers. She certainly came a long way in the eyes of the people since back when she had lived there 2 years ago, the people were terrified of her. Similar for Emeralia who was also invited by the soldiers to dance. It's really heartwarming to think how much of an improvement it was for them ever since they met Lute.
When Shamsiel is first suspected of the attacks in Bustenhalter, she looks at Emeralia and tells her that she figures she must suspect her too. Emeralia says no. Reason being that she and Lute both truly loved one another, so there would be no reason for her to cast a shadow on that happiness. Shamsiel is clearly grateful to hear this, and responds: "You're a nice human."
- As a matter of fact, there is another similar scene at the end of one of the alternate routes: Shamsiel and Emeralia are talking by a pool in Luceria's garden. Shamsiel told Emeralia how much she appreciated the nice things she had said to and about her, even calling her "Your Highness" from the very beginning, as well as the times she stood up for her. Shamsiel reveals that apart from Lute, Emeralia was the first person to ever stand up for her. Shamsiel questions if Emeralia would want to marry Lute and become a queen, but Emeralia said that being able to serve Lute and be by his side is more than she could have dreamed for.
- After that, Emeralia brings up how Lute hadn't been killed by Saint Reaper when he had opened Pandora's Box. She figured that it wasn't actually "saints" that Reaper wouldn't kill. It was that the only person Reaper wouldn't kill would have to be none other than the King of All Demons, which would mean Lute was... Shamsiel cuts her off saying that Lute isn't the King of Demons. He is the King of Edelland, and he didn't ascend the throne because he was the King of Demons either. He did it because he is a good man. Emeralia agrees, and the two of them agree to keep the secret together.
- Later still, Lute goes out by the pool and tells Emeralia that he appreciated all her help with what she had been doing for him, she told him she didn't mind, and was happy to help. She then puts a hand on her belly and smiles to herself. Lute thinks to himself about how glad he was that he had spared her life 2 years earlier. Emeralia then nuzzles up to Lute who leans into her a bit, and the two look up toward the sky together.
On 2 separate occasions, Cardinal Canossa tries to say that Lute's marriage to Shamsiel is the cause of misfortune to his people and kingdom. Even using scripture to justify his view. Which Lute promptly throws right back in his face both times. The first instance was when they first meet Canossa, Lute remarks how God teaches acceptance of those who have made mistakes in the past and those who are different. There's even a fitting reference to Mary Magdelin's story as a former prostitute that decided to follow the path of God, and that if the Cardinal condemned Shamsiel, Emeralia, or anyone simply for their past, then he would be implying that all forms of penance is futile. This shuts up Canossa pretty fast, and even Cardinal Fango thought Lute's words were spot on. The second instance is the morning when Lute and his group are going to visit Vunderbalt. Canossa claims that the recent attacks and misfortune befalling Edelland to be God's punishment cursing the people for Lute's marriage to "a devil". Lute then flips that back on him by saying that IF that were the case, why would God wait 2 years to punish him instead of immediately? Canossa just tries to say that the Lord's will is thus inscrutable. Lute then asks how he would know what God's thinking or decided? Canossa asks if Lute is trying to defy the Lord, so Lute responds that he only defies those who try using God as a means of judging/criticizing others. Lute then says an old saying about a "fox borrowing a tiger's authority" and thus he can't stand when a "fox" borrows God's authority (which is to say, using God's name for one's own benefit). Once again, this shuts up Canossa and impresses Cardinal Fango who agrees with him.
- Immediately following the first instance where Lute defends both Shamsiel AND Emeralia from the insults of Cardinal Canossa, they both embrace him and cheerfully tell Lute that they were so happy. Shamsiel remarks that she hadn't felt this happy since the day he married her and made her a queen. Emeralia said that she WAS happy the day he named her his prime minister, but that today (when he defended her) was what she considered to be the happiest day of her entire life. Then they decide to further express their gratitude.
When Lute, Shamsiel, and Emeralia visit Vunderbalt, the soldiers are all thrilled to see them, even Shamsiel whom they had gotten to know since she had been their overseer for a while. Thus when Cardinal Canossa started slandering Lute and Shamsiel in front of them, the men started to get pissed. Then, Shamsiel changes into her queenly dress and returns to show off to everyone how queenly she is. Everyone is awestruck by her beauty, even the Cardinals. The soldiers actually start lining up to kiss her hand in reverence. Later that night, Shamsiel continues to be the center of attention, getting along well with the soldiers who were all eagerly trying to get a chance to dance with her in her queen dress. It's nice for both Shamsiel AND the ex-rebels that they not only get along well, but are happy to share the common trait of being former outcasts that were now being accepted.
One of THE most impactful scenes in this entire story involves Shamsiel. There was a series of incidents occuring that made people start to question trusting Shamsiel: The Ghoul incident in Boan, the appearance of a fake succubus in Bustenhalter and then Vunderbalt, and then a very vicious attack by an impostor that looked exactly like the real Shamsiel killing several soldiers in Bustenhalter. Each time this happens, pressure gets put on Shamsiel, but thankfully they manage to easily prove her innocence each time... Except for the last time: When Lute, Shamsiel, and the others return from Vunderbalt to Bustenhalter the day after the impostor Shamsiel's attack, the soldiers try to kill Shamsiel on-sight. Despite the generals and others vouching for her, the soldiers refuse to listen. Emeralia then steps forward and tells them that if they wanted to kill her highness Shamsiel, they'd have to kill HER first (this even shocks Shamsiel). She reminds them that it was Shamsiel who saved Lute and thus the Kingdom back when Lute was going to be executed by Bernstein. The soldiers still don't back down and charge toward Shamsiel, but stop at the last second. Why? Lute threw himself between them and her, and they almost kill him on the spot by mistake had they not stopped at the very last second (the spears actually poke into his clothes). Lute manages to finally calm the soldiers down and convince them to leave the matter to him. They stand down and leave Shamsiel alone. Later on, everyone is discussing what just happened. Lute says that if Schlamm and Zant said the attacker looked just like Shamsiel then it had to have looked like her. Shamsiel approaches Lute in tears claiming her innocence. Lute tells her that he believed her, and holds her in his arms. She starts trembling. This is one of the very few times Shamsiel has ever shown this level of fear, but it wasn't necessarily HER safety that she was worried about. The last time was when she was blaming herself for Lute's false imprisonment and near-execution in the previous game. She then starts to tell Lute that perhaps they should divorce, she didn't want to cause him any more trouble, and that she would be content to go back to living in Boan if he came and visited her now and then. Lute pulls her closer and tells her that no matter what anyone says, she would ALWAYS be his queen. Lute even makes a joke that without her around, there'd be nobody to threaten to "squeeze him dry". She chokes up as she calls him a dummy and cheers up as he holds her. Meanwhile, the others in the room are watching this transpire, and it leads to Schlamm uttering a VERY heartwarming line: "A demon who can cry (like this) is no demon at all". In other words, this scene is when everyone finally sees how "humane" Shamsiel really is, even if she isn't at all human.
- Another small part during this event is the morning when Lute and the others are heading back to Bustenhalter, Cardinal Canossa starts to say that all of this WAS because Lute had married a "demon/monster". As he continues to berate Lute and Shamsiel's competence, Emeralia finally tells him that he better watch his mouth for his own safety's sake. Canossa asks if she was threatening him. Emeralia tells him that it is FOR his safety that he better shut up. Canossa looks around and all the soldiers (including Motaire) who have been listening are glaring daggers at him! He tries to say more, but they cut him off and warn him that if he says one more bad thing about their king and queen whom they owe their lives to... They'd cut him in half.
While visiting Fronce, a gigantic cyclops attacks everyone. Everyone save Lute assumes the worst and tries to attack it, only getting crushed or swatted aside for their trouble. Lute, however, realized the cyclops was no mindless beast, it was afraid, and when other sought to attack it, it was just trying to scare them off. So he decided to walk right up to it, asks it its name (Though it didn't have one), and taught it how to play rock, paper, scissors. IT. WORKED. In fact, he spent most of the rest of the day showing whom everyone had thought a monster, friendship, and as the day ended, he explained the cyclops had been misunderstood and everyone assumed the worst about it when they never got the time to know who it really was.
- What happens immediately afterwards is even better, as everyone present who still bore any resentment and contempt for Lute took what Lute has said into consideration, and immediately realized it wasn't just the cyclops they had been foolish enough to write off with cruel and ignorant prejudices.
- Also, concerning the cyclops incident: Shamsiel played dumb during the attack, because she knew that Lute would be able to handle the situation himself, and she also probably knew that the cyclops wouldn't attack him at least in part because he is half-incubus, and thus the (unknown to himself) "King of Demons". Meanwhile, Gladys was initially horrified to see Lute attempting to get close to the cyclops, so she tries to go after him, but the cyclops hurls a tree at her, which she dodges. When Lute starts playing with the cyclops, she's immediately impressed, and states that she was so proud that he was "her man". Then, Lute tells everyone else to leave the area, in order to ensure everyone's safety. Gladys states that she wouldn't move an inch from there, in case Lute needed her. Lute warns her that staying might actually be more dangerous for everyone, so she resigns to fall back a bit and watch the two from a distance.
After the Cyclops incident, Gladys goes and talks with Count Roche in his room. She explains to him exactly why she hadn't bothered to try to ascend the throne in Edelland and why she had fallen in love with Lute, not simply because he was dauntless or amazing, but because he was able to unite everyone in the kingdom ways she could never have begun to dream of (Felzen as Commander of the Guard, Emeralia as Prime Minister, etc). She even points out how he was the one who fulfilled her father's wish of sparing the rebels and letting the knighted bureaucracy evolve more naturally, going as far as protesting and protecting her AND her subordinates from execution. As she puts it, her man is truly in another league...
Although she was a major figure in Lute's harem, and she never got her own route in the original game... I am happy to say that by the end of this story, Gladys finally officially marries Lute and becomes one of his wives/queens. 2 more of the original harem to go... Here's hoping!
On the first night of Lute, Shamsiel, and Gladys' visit to Fronce, Shamsiel decides to give Lute and Gladys some alone time to make love to each other, but once she decides they'd had enough, she comes back so that SHE can have her turn. When all is said and done, Lute has fallen asleep, and Shamsiel helps him back to their room to get him to bed. Gladys and Shamsiel remark on how cute Lute looks while he sleeps, and they decide to sing him a lullaby together... Later that night, a couple of ghouls try to attack Lute in his sleep, but they're thwarted by Shamsiel and Gladys together. Makes you wonder if secretly they were actually just trying to help Lute sleep however they could, considering they were in a place where they all KNEW someone was going to try to do something to kill them.
