A chaotic family; a newly married couple; a Spanish Bridget Jones; the annoying pest", Leo; a pre-retired couple; an antisocial defaulter; a gallant actor; two squatters, and a couple with three children are some of the characters who live in the building.

Tropes used in La que se Avecina include:

  • Dumb Blonde - Subverted with Raquel Villanueva.
  • Only Sane Man - Enrique Pastor.

  • Punny Name: The title is likely a pun on the phrase "la vecina" (the neighbor woman.)
  • Show Within a Show - La Pecaminosa (The Sinful Girl). Sergio Arias, a neighbor from Mirador de Montepinar, is the hero of the show.
  • Slice of Life
  • Invisible to Gaydar - Antonio's son, Alvaro. Note that in the first season, Alvaro was straight. But, in the second season, he goes out of the closet.
