The Law of Inverse Romantic Interest States:

The more interested someone is in romance the less likely anyone will be interested in them. Inversely the less someone is interested in romance, the more likely someone will be interested in them.

You see this in many Anime and Manga, where the protagonist unwillingly gains many many girls who are greatly interested in him in all manner of ways, but is not very interested in almost any of them.

Also happens where you have a character who thinks they are God's gift to the other gender constantly get beaten or otherwise denied it. This usually have something to do with their personality or how they go about it. But both can happen in the same series.
