This is a series by YodaKenobi [dead link] comprised of four novel-length stories. This is only the latest series in YodaKenobi's alternate universe (referred to as "the Yobiverse" by some). His original trilogy of Revolution, The Eighth Cortex, and The Living Force form an alternate ending to the New Jedi Order series, one wherein Anakin Solo survives to become the hero of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Then there is a "bridge fic," Empire of the Hand that leads into the present series.

"This story takes place three years after The Living Force, approximately 32 ABY, known as the beginning of the 'Raithian Wars.' A period that has long been ignored. It tells the story of the rise of the Raithians, and the Jedi from the Skywalker bloodline who became 'Darth Havok.'"

"All of YodaKenobi's stuff is great, but his main storyline starts with a trilogy that serves as an alternate ending for the New Jedi Order in which Anakin Solo is revealed to be alive, and continues with the bridge epic 'Empire of the Hand' and the currently ongoing "Legacy of the Sith" four-fic arc. In this series, the Galactic Alliance is threatened by a new race of alien invaders several years after the Vong War ends, only to be rescued by the forces of a mysterious empire from the Unknown Regions. This is a series that has something for every kind of Star Wars fan and has become a haven for those disillusioned by more recent Star Wars Expanded Universe works.

Despite originating before its canonical counterpart Legacy of the Force, Legacy of the Sith does have some similarities with the 9-book series, most notably the defection of one of the Solo kids from the Jedi Order to that of the Sith. However, YodaKenobi's series seems to succeed at pretty much every point where the canonical series fails. Some readers have gone so far as to say that this series is what Legacy of the Force should have been.

Tropes used in Legacy of the Sith include:


  • Action Girl - Leia Solo, Jaina, Tahiri, sometimes Jysella too.
  • Anti-Villain: - Aero Gin after we find out just how much she's been used and abused by Faybol. Jacen is this for a while, before finally Jumping Off the Slippery Slope.
  • Big Bad - Darth Malig.
  • Cain and Abel
    • Anakin Solo, believing his brother Jacen to be responsible for his fiancée Tahiri's apparent death, uses Jacen's pregnant wife Tenel Ka to lure him into a confrontation at Centerpoint Station and tries to kill him, succeeding only in pissing him off. In short, Anakin spends all of fic #3 trying to kill Jacen, and Jacen spends fic #4 trying to kill Anakin.
    • On a smaller scale, Jacen and his twin sister Jaina have a more restrained lightsaber duel on the hull of the Rapture, each trying to disarm and convince the other of the rightness of his/her cause.
  • Dark Action Girl - Callista Ming and (to an extent) Aero Gin.
  • Disc One Final Boss - This series almost plays out like a video game.
    • In The Age of Heroes, the Galactic Alliance succeeds in destroying Commander Goresh.
    • In Exodus, Jacen Solo kills Darth Rapier but in the process gives himself over to becoming Darth Havok.
    • In The Lands of the Dead, Anakin thwarts Jacen/Havok's attempts to kidnap his wife Tenel Ka and escapes Centerpoint with her and her unborn child.
    • In the so-called "Act I" of The End of All Light, Aero Gin kills Faybol with the help of the Jedi.
    • Presumably Darth Malig will be the Final Boss of the series.
  • The Dragon - Faybol. A role later played by Darth Havok after Faybol's death on Dathomir.
  • Face Heel Turn
    • Jacen Solo becomes Darth Havok. In addition to that, Anakin--after he believes his fiancée Tahiri to have been killed--turns into a Complete Monster in his quest for vengeance.
    • Callista Ming had turned to the dark side before the events of YodaKenobi's original trilogy.
    • Since YodaKenobi has all but confirmed that Darth Malig is Namtar Osyris, then we can say that the Big Bad himself fits this trope.
    • Jagged Fel might qualify for this in the fourth story with his Omega Red project in the aftermath of his father's death at the end of The Lands of the Dead.
  • Final Speech - Faybol, dying, speaking to the Jedi about Darth Malig: "Everything you do... is exactly what he wants. He constructs games you cannot win... don't you see? You will think you are safe now because I am gone... But you're not. It's already too late for you and you don't even realize it."
  • Flash Back - A popular plot device in this series.
    • The prologue to The Lands of the Dead shows a flashback of a mission by Thrawn and Parck thirty years before, which itself contains the recollections by a man of a visit by Darth Malig fifty years before that.
    • The Jacen vs. Anakin duel at Centerpoint is interspersed with flashbacks of happier, more loving times between the two brothers.
    • The End of All Light frequently cuts to flashbacks of Namtar Osyris and the relatively happy and normal life he led and how it eventually went all to hell.
    • Flashback Echo - In one chapter, Darth Malig uses dark powers to resuscitate Danni Quee from the dead while simultaneously a century earlier Namtar is using these same powers to bring his pet Baal back from the dead.
  • Heel Face Turn
    • After Artoo-Detoo shows Anakin Solo footage of his grandfather Force choking his grandmother, the younger Anakin quickly abandons the dark path and spends the rest of the series trying to find redemption.
    • Aero Gin fits here too.
  • Karmic Death - Faybol, who is deceived and killed by Aero Gin, whose life he had destroyed with his own deceptions.
  • The Man Behind the Man - In Empire of the Hand, we are introduced to Commander Goresh Tenziesh of the Vagaari forces as the main antagonist. At the end of the story, we find that this cruel commander is but an underling to a Sith general, Kol Rénin, who is in fact Darth Rapier and the one pulling the strings. But even he is just the apprentice of none other than Darth Malig. As far back as the ending of The Living Force, we see the dark and mysterious being Faybol appear to Callista in what looks like the setup of the Big Bad of the next series. But like Rénin, Faybol is merely the servant of Darth Malig.
  • Mordor - The planet Apollyon, and how!
    • Forget Korriban or any of the canonically established dark planets. Apollyon is a planet perpetually covered in cold ash (sometimes described as dark snow), with the landscape comprised of demonic cathedrals and spires, like some warped, medieval Gothic dystopian equivalent of Coruscant. This is the homeworld of the Raithian Empire, a swath of space covered in a dark side nexus, and this world so much so that Jedi can barely call upon the Force here without the taint of the dark side.
    • Incidentally, a team of Jedi and Chiss soldiers Walk Into Mordor in order to rescue Luke and numerous other Jedi prisoners.
