Lindsay Dee Lohan (born July 2 1986) is an American model and occasional pop singer and actress, who is largely known for the downward spiral her career engaged in after being anointed one of the rising stars of the '00s.

A former child model, Lohan rose to fame when she switched over to acting and landed several major film roles, most notably the Disney remakes of The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, as well as the decidedly un-Disney, Tina Fey-penned 2004 film Mean Girls.

Like most young, beautiful actresses, Lohan was anointed by the media as the "next big thing". Unfortunately, this backfired on her, as Lindsay began partying, using drugs, getting into trouble with the law, and acquiring a reputation throughout Hollywood for being a diva who showed up to the set late and hung over. Making matters worse was Lohan's disintegrating home life. Her father was an alcoholic Jerkass, who verbally and emotionally abused her on many occasions, the highlight being when he sent police over to her home for no reason and tried to justify it by claiming he was only doing it to "check up on her." Her mother, meanwhile, was a controlling, drug-addicted Stage Mom, who sought to exploit her daughter's fame and fortune to live the good life. Virtually overnight, Lohan was denounced by the tabloids and media en masse. Her films started tanking at the box office, and her partying began to alienate Hollywood big shots who found her to be an unreliable worker. A rather high profile, briefly successful attempt to launch a career as a pop star only further stained her reputation. Several DUI arrests and trips to rehab finally stalled her career.

Her attempt to relaunch her career on TV with a lengthy guest stint on Ugly Betty backfired, and she was fired (or quit, depending on who you ask) shortly after her character was introduced. Save for a minor role in Robert Rodriguez's Machete, the Direct to Video Labor Pains, and the as-of-now unreleased "Underground Comedy Movie 2010", she hasn't acted in a movie since 2007. Ironically, she was offered the role that eventually went to Heather Graham in the 2009 film The Hangover, but turned it down, not knowing how successful that movie would turn out (though she did later mention that she didn't regret turning down the film despite its huge success).

She is bisexual (maybe; she doesn't want to classify herself), though she prefers not to talk about her sexual orientation to reporters. She has been in relationships with Wilmer Valderrama and Samantha Ronson, though her father did not approve of Samantha because she is a woman (and because he believed her to be a bad influence on Lindsay).

Lindsay is a Marilyn Monroe fangirl, and has recreated some of her famous poses and even has quotes from her tattooed on her arms. Which she has recently removed after finding out that Marilyn Monroe was bipolar and deciding that she doesn't want to have that kind of negative influence in her life.
