Lindybeige

Nikolas Lloyd, aka Lindybeige is a filmmaker, historian, archeologist and all-around Englishman who's been on YouTube since 2007. As the man himself puts it, the channel is rather eclectic. As while his videos generally focus on archeology, ancient/medieval/Victorian warfare and historical geekery, his portfolio includes commentaries, short films, random dancing and other bits of silliness.

He's also known for being open and welcoming to his audience. He can be very frank with his views, rants and opinions, while presenting them in a calm if sarcastic tone.

Adorkable: He has his moments, and is visibly giddy whenever said moments happen.
Angrish: Sometimes, the butchering of historical content is so bad it elicits this.
Arrows on Fire: One of his many peeves, pointing out how pointless flaming arrows are outside of their actual, intended purpose.
Artistic Licence History: He's very particular with historical accuracy and context. While he can be understanding of creative freedoms and the like, he won't hesitate to call out any historical butchering.
Author Avatar: Some of his videos feature him voicing a lego soldier with a pith helmet.
Author Tract: This is most evident in his rant videos, though he does make a point to engage with his watchers and others.
Bias Steamroller: If a video is about something Lloyd hates or finds really absurd, he makes it clear from the get-go. And when it comes to certain historical fiction like the movie Ironclad, he's fond of going so far as to break up his skewering into multiple videos, as one alone wouldn't suffice.
Belief Makes You Stupid: Downplayed. He has no love for religion, but he's understanding of its cultural and social value as well as respectful of religious people. Except for fundamentalists and radicals, however.
Berserk Button: Has his fair share of these, growing as time goes on.
Deadpan Snarker: He has a strong tendency to being this.
Fashion Dissonance: Lloyd tends to dress like he's several decades behind, though it can be Awesome Anachronistic Apparel for some.
Flynning: He's not a particular fan of this trope. As while there are some fancy techniques used in real swordfights, it's all about killing or wounding your opponent rather than showing off.
Hollywood Costuming: He really loathes some of the more ludicrous choices done to represent historical costumes in films, like inexplicable leather gear in medieval settings.
Hollywood History: Thoroughly averted. In addition to his reviews and commentaries, some of his videos tend to focus on lesser known bits of British and generally Western history.
Mean Brit: When he's particularly peeved, he reverts to this.
My Country, Right or Wrong: Subverted. He knows about the less than savory aspects of British and Western history, but nonetheless has a measured pride in his heritage and country. Knowing that despite the worst lows, there still much that is admirable and honorable.
One of Us: He's shown himself to be a veritable nerd, especially with his passion for tabletop games and roleplaying. In more recent times, he's also shown himself to be a fervent Doctor Who fan.
Patriotic Fervor: Lloyd is proud of his country, warts and all, and conveys it in a dry British manner. Not to mention his irritation at both the French and Americans.
Politically-Correct History: He's no fan of any form of this trope.
Renaissance Man: To a point at least. Lloyd's known to have taken more than a few degrees and career paths over the years.
Retraux: He has a habit of closing his videos in the style of turn-of-the-20th Century films. Likewise, some of his short films clearly take inspiration from some period of film history.
Self Deprecating Humor: He often likes to poke fun at himself and his composure.
Separated by a Common Language: Lloyd occasionally expresses his continuing preference to the British/Commonwealth form of English to the American one.
Shown Their Work: In his reviews and commentaries, Lloyd consistently shows that he knows what he's talking about.
Stiff Upper Lip: Downplayed, but while he's generally relaxed, Lloyd does have the classic British bearing of this trope.
True Art Is Incomprehensible: One of the reasons why he hates modern art.
Widget Series: Some of his content can be very random, if relatively consistent and very British.
