"To live alone one must be a beast or a god, says Aristotle. Leaving out the third case: one must be both -- a philosopher."

Even at a young age, I already felt... so powerless. Nowhere to run... Parents suck... No friends... The Loner. I am.

I'd just like to point out that you were given every opportunity to succeed. There was even going to be a party for you. A big party that all your friends were invited to. I invited your best friend the Companion Cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come either because you don't have any other friends. Because of how unlikable you are. It says so here in your personnel file: Unlikable. Liked by no one. A bitter, unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned. Shall not be mourned. That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you were adopted. So that's funny, too.

So can you tell me
What exactly does freedom mean

If I'm not free to be as twisted as I want to be?

"I never fit in. I am a true alternative. And I love being the outcast. That's my role in life, to be an outcast."

I was naturally a loner, content just to live with a woman, eat with her, sleep with her, walk down the street with her. I didn't want conversation, or to go anywhere except the racetrack or the boxing matches. I didn't understand t.v. I felt foolish paying money to go into a movie theatre and sit with other people to share their emotions. Parties sickened me. I hated the game-playing, the dirty play, the flirting, the amateur drunks, the bores.
Charles Bukowski

"Not alone, 'Lone'. Alone is an unfortunate predicament, lone is an aesthetic choice."

I don't have any friends at all
'Cause I have nothing in common wit' y'all
So who's gonna catch me if I fall?

My back's always against the wall...
Gnarls Barkley - "Whatever"

If you see him in the subway
He'll be down at the end of the car
Watching you move until
He knows he knows who you are
When you get off at your station alone,
He'll know that you are
Know when you see him, nothing can free him
Step aside, open wide

It's the loner.
Neil Young - "The Loner"

"There's a fine line between tortured genius and awkward kid who can't get girls because he's creepy."

"I walked for miles inside this pit of danger. I've swallowed down a thousand years of anger. The weight of the world is falling on my shoulders. A place where no one follows me I walk alone."
Saliva's I Walk Alone

File:Cquote1.svg

To love you must have someone else,
Giving requires a legatee,
Good neighbours need whole parishfuls
Of folk to do it on - in short,
Our virtues are all social; if,
Deprived of solitude, you chafe,
It's clear you're not the virtuous sort.

Viciously, then, I lock the door...

The next morning Hiro Sakurai made his big debut at Fukuyama High. One by one, groups of students tried to befriend him, and they all came back with the same verdict ... He was a cold fish, through and through. I had never seen a student care so little about fitting in. It was as if he wanted to be left alone. And, sure enough, he was. By the end of the week, Hiro Sakurai had systematically frozen himself out of every clique in whole school. Even the losers wanted nothing to do with him.
