Love Triangle/Headscratchers

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • In some of them I cant figure out why they dont just try polygamy out to resolve the problem.
    • In real life, I don't see any love triangles and don't think polygamy is the way to go. However, in fiction, there are so many love triangles where one person is torn between two lovers and polygamy seems like it would actually work out for them.
    • There's also the little fact that polygamy is not everyone's cup of tea. Even if The person being chased is okay with it, the two lovers might not want to share and could even be offended by the notion.
  • It's difficult to assume what is or isn't a love triangle within universal settings though, it can be
    • 1) A loves B, B doesn't like A but likes C instead, C doesn't return B's advances but instead likes A; a true triangle of sorts, but polygamy won't be practical, because it's just an endless cycle of Forever Alone.
    • 2) All three (A, B and C) are interpersonal with each other. Polygamy all the way.
    • 3) Say A and B are together, but let's say A is in an interpersonal attraction with C. This is more reflective of an affair really.
    • 4) Same as 3 really, except maybe C doesn't like A back, or A doesn't return C's interest because they're happily interpersonal with B. This is what we refer to, as the friend zone.
