Examples of Meaningful Names in Web Animation include:
- Homestar Runner is a "terrific athlete". Strong Bad has boxing glove hands and a wrestling mask head, and is a "bad guy". Strong Mad and Strong Sad are Dumb Muscle and The Eeyore, respectively. The Cheat loves to cheat (and his species is called "The Cheat", never just "Cheat"). Pom Pom is a big round ball. Coach Z is a coach who wears a medallion with a Z on it.
- Leonard Church of Red vs. Blue. Means nothing at first, but in Reconstruction, after Church is revealed to be an AI, we hear the Director of Project Freelancer narrate an Epilogue Letter about how all AIs are based off of a human mind. He then signs off with his own name, Doctor Leonard Church.
- In RWBY, it appears that nearly everyone in the cast has a name that makes some kind of reference to history, fairy tales or fantasy literature.
