Meddling Kids

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Meddling Kids is a roleplaying game designed for kids 7 and up written by Allyson Brooks and published in 2004 by Pandahead Productions. Strongly inspired by Scooby-Doo and similar works, it casts its players as preteen, tween and/or teen members of a mystery-solving gang. Of course every such gang has a mascot, which the game calls the Wild Card. Run by the GM, the Wild Card acts as a Deus Ex Machina who shepherds the gang toward (or away) from the solution as needed to maintain the plot.

As it's aimed at children who are likely to be first-time roleplayers, it's designed to explain roleplaying and uses own unique game system -- The Starter System -- that is planned as a springboard to other, more involved games. Its adventures are also short, usually lasting an hour or so, the better for young players with limited attention spans.
