This character sheet is for the Mega Man Battle Network (also known as Rockman EXE) game franchise and the Mega Man NT Warrior anime by extension. For the most part, this page is still under construction.

Character names are given English version first, with Japanese version in parentheses.

Main Characters/Heroes

MegaMan.EXE (Rockman.EXE)

Voiced by Akiko Kimura (JP), Andrew Francis (EN)

The title character and Lan's Navi. In the games, he is Lan's twin brother Hub (Saito) Hikari, who died when he was an infant and was brought back to life as a Navi. In the anime, he possesses one of the three Ultimate Programs.

  • Arm Cannon: And again
  • Badass
    • Badass Abnormal: Through the use of the ability "Full Synchro", he and Lan can combine their power to make him vastly more powerful than the average Navi in the first three games storywise, and the ability finally becomes a recurring gameplay element in the last three games of the main series.
    • Badass Long Hair: As Proto Soul
    • Took a Level in Badass: Throughout the games, he does a subtly increasing version. In game two, he acquires the ability to change his attacks based on his battle performance, which sticks with him throughout the third game, where he also acquires a permanently equipped (though upgradable) charge attack. By games four and five he can use Soul Unison and gains gameplay use of Full Synchro, and by the final game he drops Soul Unison for the even easier to utilize Cross Fusion system.
  • Berserk Button: In volume 8 of the Manga, Mega Man.EXE kills Shade Man.EXE by ripping the evil vampire navi to shreds for threatening to kill Lan. Of course, that was the Darkloids' plan all along (to make him angry).
  • Brain Uploading
  • Character Title: The Japanese title of the anime is simply titled Rockman.EXE. The games in Japan are Battle Network Rockman.EXE for the first three, and simply Rockman.EXE for the latter three.
  • Chest Insignia: The stylized red H against a black background representing the Hikari family and an apparent love for soccer.
    • Word of God says that it's not an H, but rather an abstract symbol whose equal portions are meant to represent Mega Man's relationship to Lan as his brother. That said, it actually evolved from an earlier design that was an H.
  • Disney Death
  • Enemy Without: Started with MegaMan DS in the fourth game.
  • Expy: To the original Mega Man
  • The Hero
  • Heroic Sacrifice: At the end of the third game. This turns out to be a Disney Death in the long run.
    • He pulls several of these in the manga and it always turns out to be a Disney Death there too. Though it took him a year to come back from the last one.
  • Holding Your Shoulder Means Injury: Done here, though it leads to something else.
  • Japanese Pronouns: "Boku"
  • Mega Manning: Unlike his namesake, he only got new abilities himself by defeating regular enemies or just buying battle chips for the first few games. Then came Style Change, Double Soul, and Cross.
  • Messianic Archetype: It helps that he and Net belong to the Net Saviors in Axess on.
  • One-Way Visor: Proto Soul has one, as does Search Soul, Gyro Soul, Knight Soul and Meddy Soul.
  • Player Character: For the internet world and in combat.
  • The Power of Friendship: The only reason why Mega Man is able to make use of his Soul and Cross transformations.
  • Punny Name
    • Japanese: Saito (彩斗) is a pun on the term "saito" (サイト), Japanese for website.
    • English: Hub is a networking term for a device that allows communication between multiple computers and networks.
  • Replacement Goldfish: He is Hub (Saito), Lan's dead twin brother. This only applies to the games.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With Lan. Mega Man is polite, composed, and hardworking while Lan is loud outgoing, and kinda lazy.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": "Site" for his human name.
  • Synchronization: In terms of game mechanics, Mega Man can achieve Full Synchro with Lan when he successfully counterattacks an enemy, causing the attack power of his next offensive battlechip to be doubled. In plot terms, this often grants him Cutscene Power to the Max.
    • Taken to the next level in the anime with Cross Fusion, which allows him to merge with Lan in order to fight enemies in the real world.
  • Super-Powered Evil Side: In the sixth game, resulting from sealing an Eldritch Abomination in his body. He also gains a variation of this in the fourth and fifth game.
    • Has shades of this in the manga as Saito (Hubstyle) Rockman. He goes Ax Crazy from the power until he learns to control it.
  • Virtual Ghost
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: In the anime, Mega Man has a fear of ghosts, since they can't be explained by science.

Lan Hikari (Netto Hikari)

Mega Man's operator.

Mayl Sakurai (Meiru Sakurai)

Voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi (JP), Brittney Wilson (EN)

Childhood friend of Lan. She lives next door for most of the series.

  • Balloon Belly: Episode 54.
  • But Not Too Foreign: She's half-Netopian.
  • The Glomp: Has a habit of doing this to Lan in the openings of the anime since Axess. Not so much in the actual show itself, but it has happened.
  • Heroes Want Redheads
  • Official Couple: With Lan.
  • Patient Childhood Love Interest: Fills just about every detail right up until we get to the romance part. Then Jasmine comes into the picture, and Mayl kicks it up a notch.
  • Punny Name: Her name is a pun on "e-mail" in both Japanese and English.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": The English-dubbed anime calls her Maylu. "Mail" has also appeared on a few bits of Japanese media.
  • Tsundere: In the anime, a type-B.
    • Seems to be one in the games as well. On several occasions throughout he series, Mayl calls Lan a dummy, and on the ACDC Area BBS, she wrote:

Mayl: It'd be nice if he(Lan) just sent me a mail or something... But I don't really care or anything...

    • Design notes in the recently translated Official Complete Works claim that Mayl was intended to be one of these in her original conception (and the concept art certainly is much less demure than her finished form), due to the creator's preference for them, though this was nixed due to the waning popularity of the Tsundere personality.
  • Victorious Childhood Friend: After trying to grab Lan's usually oblivious attention throughout most of the series, it's revealed at the end of the sixth game that both married each other in the future.
  • You Gotta Have Red-Pink Hair

Roll.EXE

Voiced by Masako Jo (JP), Lenore Zann (EN)

Operated by Mayl, and a very close friend to Mega Man by extension.

  • Chest Insignia: Her insignia is filled in with a pink heart against a gold background.
  • The Chick
  • Damsel in Distress: Sometimes Often plays this role, being distressed at least once in games 1-3, seemed to drop the damsel ball in 4, where she Took a Level in Badass, then went right back to being distressed for all of 5, and wasn't present in 6 at all aside from use of her Navi Chips.
  • The Medic
  • Summon Magic: She can summon weaker viruses to aid her in battle during the fourth game.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Battle Chip Challenge and the fourth game.
  • Weapon of Choice
    • The Archer: Her arrows have the ability to break all selected battlechips that have not yet been used that turn.
    • Whip It Good: When she's not attacking with her bow and arrows, she teleports in front of her enemy and smacks them around with her two antennae on her head.

Dex Oyama (Dekao Oyama)

Voiced by Yusuke Numata (JP), Tony Sampson (EN)

Another childhood friend of Lan, and a friendly rival.

GutsMan.EXE

Voiced by Yoshimitsu Shimoyama (JP), Scott McNeil (EN)

Operated by Dex, and friendly rival to Mega Man by extension.

Yai Ayanokoji (Yaito Ayanokoji)

Voiced by Hinako Yoshino (JP), Jocelyne Loewen (EN)

A good friend of Lan, and two years younger than the rest of the crew. Her family is one of the richest in the world.

  • Forehead of Doom: The glare off her (rather large) forehead is a running gag in the anime. She even uses it as an attack of sorts
  • Girlish Pigtails
  • Maid Corps: They can be seen in montages thoroughout several episodes doing random chores across the city.
  • Ojou: Her father is the CEO of Gabcom.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money: Yai is not particularly skilled at Net Battle at all, but makes up for it loads of rare and expensive Battle Chips.

Glyde.EXE

Voiced by Yasuhiko Kawazu (JP), Ted Col (EN)

Operated by Yai. Glyde is more of a butler Navi rather than a combat navi, and does not have much in terms of offensive capabilities. His rare and expensive battlechips sometimes makes up for that.

  • Battle Butler: Definitely not one of the evil kinds though.
  • Chest Insignia: A red diamond and two yellow triangles that make up one large triangle. To the sides of the triangle is a black background, while the bottom is an orange background. According to Word of God, it's supposed to be a kind of burning incense.
  • Nice Guy: Very, very polite.
  • The Smart Guy

Eugene Chaud/Chaud Blaze (Enzan Ijuin)

Voiced by Mitsuki Saiga (JP), Bill Switzer (EN)

A young boy that is a rising star among the Net Officials.

ProtoMan.EXE (Blues.EXE)

Voiced by Masaya Matsukaze (JP) and David Kaye (EN)

Operated by Chaud. He shares the same stoic personality as Chaud. In the anime, he possesses one of the three Ultimate Programs.

Iris

Voiced by Eri Sendai (JP)

This rather quiet girl lives around Cyber City in the sixth game. Almost nobody knows anything about her, other than that Colonel.EXE is unwilling to attack her. She assists Lan and MegaMan in various ways against WWW and the legendary beasts Falzar and Gregar. In the anime, she and Trill are residents of the alternate world Beyondard, in which she has been trying to end the war between the Falzars and the Gregars. She assists Mega Man in allowing him to Beast-Out without having him lose control of his powers and go berserk.

  • Apocalypse Maiden
  • Cannot Spit It Out: She likes Lan and almost tells him, but decides against it.
  • Expy: To the game Iris
  • Heroic Sacrifice: With Colonel at the end of the sixth game.
  • Mysterious Waif
  • The Reveal: In the games, Iris.EXE is actually a Navi formed from the removed compassionate part of Colonel.EXE. She has the power to control military installations and networks around the world. Due to this, she has spent most of her life making use of Copybots, which allow Navis to appear in the real world, in order to hide from Wily.

Trill.EXE

Voiced by Noriko Shitaya (JP)

This young and childish Navi only appears in the anime. Trill is known as the Synchronizer, and has taken an immense liking to Mega Man for protecting him and Iris against the worshipers of Falzar and Gregar. Eventually Trill allows Mega Man to gain the ability to Beast-Out, thus gaining the powers of either of the two beasts, but Mega Man loses control and attacks anything in sight if Iris is not there as well.

Mick (Aragaki Kojirou)

Lan's best freind in Cyber City, though he'd never admit it, they became freinds after Lan stopped Blastman.exe, who tricked Mick into giving him access into the school security system. A bit of a Jerkass, he softens up over time. He has a standard navy with a custom red and orange paint scheme.

  • Expy: Partially for Dex. He has Dex's pride and inital bully status, but is still a prick after he befriends Lan.
  • Jerkass:Initially
  • Morality Pet: Penga the Penguin, who is one of the few things in 6 that get's him to feel something other than hate or disintrest
  • Shadow Archetype: To Lan. Both are proud netbattlers who have Navi's who mother them, but while Lan is incredibly friendly kid who's extremly close with his navi, Mick is rude to everyone and bickers with his Navi constantly.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He teams up with Blastman.exe to get revenge on Lan for defeating a virus he set on him as a prank, but Blast Man just uses him to try and kill the teaching staff and cause panic.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds:With his navi and Lan.

World Three (WWW)

The main antagonists of the first season of the anime. They are also the main antagonists of the first and third games and the sixth.

  • Punch Clock Villain: Dr. Wily aside, the rest of them are like this in the anime, with Yahoot running a curry restaurant that the others work at, which the protagonists actually frequent.

Dr. Wily

Voiced by Katsumi Cho (JP), Paul Dobson (EN)

The leader of World Three. Long ago, he tried to obtain funding for his research on robotics technology, but that funding went to the Hikari family's research on internet technology instead. Now he wants revenge by destroying the internet, despite the apparent irony of using the same internet technology to do so.


Mr. Match (Kenichi "Hinoken" Hino)

A very passionate man that loves anything to do with pyrotechnics. Operator of Fireman.EXE, Heatman.EXE, and Flameman.EXE, although he is only seen with one of them at a time. Voiced by Trevor Devall in the dub.

Count Jack Zap (Count Jack "Elec" Elekiter)

A man associated with a rich family that has a rather electric personality. Operator of Elecman.EXE.

  • Attention Whore: His suit has lights all over it. His character designer confirms that this is so he's always clearly visible, no matter how dark it is.
  • Gratuitous English: "OH! MY! GAHD!"

Ms. Madd (Madoi Iroaya)

A fashionable yet goofy woman that can be quite cunning at times. Operator of Colorman.EXE. Voiced by Tabitha St. Germain in the dub.

Yahoot (Mahajarama)

He runs a curry restaurant that Lan frequently visits in the anime. In the games, he was Dr. Wily's right hand man, and nearly succeeds in deleting Mega Man. Operator of Magicman.EXE. Voiced by Ron Halder in the dub.

Rei Saiko

Operator of Flashman.EXE, he manages to steal one of the Tetracodes from the school network that is required to release Alpha in the third game.

  • Smug Snake: Has the personality of one, and his character sprite is always wearing an arrogant smirk.

Takeo Inukai

Operator of Beastman.EXE and a zookeeper of Yoka Zoo. In the third game, he manages to steal the second Tetracode from the zoo after causing a disruption through electronic implants in every animal in the zoo.

  • Expy: Don't you DARE tell me you took one look at BeastMan and didn't think he was meant to be the Netnavi counterpart to Slash Man.
  • Gonk: Very brutish looking in appearance.
  • You Have Failed Me...: Wily disposes of him after his failure in the Rankings.

BubbleMan.EXE

A rather cowardly autonomous (self-reliant) Navi. In the third game, he devises a plan to have washing machines produced by World Three trap users in a sort of bubble bomb. Drillman mentions that Bubbleman is like a close cousin to him.

Noboru Sunayama

A flamboyant and very popular television actor, this man arranges the N1 Grand Prix tournament in the third game, which was ultimately an attempt to force Chaud to give up ProtoMan to him (while holding Chaud's father hostage) and announce the World Three's return live to the entire world. Operator of Desertman.EXE.

Anetta

In the games, she is a nature-loving woman that has Plantman.EXE take over the hospital network, causing the computer-controlled tree of life to grow vines that disrupted hospital services. In the end, she is successful in stealing the third Tetracode from the hospital.

DrillMan.EXE

Another autonomous Navi of the World Three, he considers Bubbleman to be somewhat of a cousin of sorts. Wily calls on him in the third game to drill and break through Scilab security and steal the program containing Proto.

Joe Mach (Go Mach)

In the sixth game, he is Lan's teacher at Cyber Academy. He is the operator of Blastman.EXE and assists the others in capturing MegaMan as a favor to Baryl, but has a sense of guilt and helps Lan find MegaMan after all of the other members decide to break off from Baryl and the World Three.

  • Anti-Villain
  • Bash Brothers: with Baryl.
  • Big Damn Heroes/Dynamic Entry: his rescue of Lan and Baryl from the W3 dissidents.
  • Badass Teacher/Cool Teacher
  • Foreshadowing: Joe Mach is known for giving stern lectures. After defeating BlastMan the first time, the evil Navi complains about his operator giving him a lecture.
  • Genius Bruiser: Is a competent teacher and asskicker.
  • Not What I Signed on For: After losing to Mega Man at the Undernet 2 area, his comrades (or rather, soon-to-be-ex-comrades) reveal their intention to break away from WWW and join up with their benefactor. Joe Mach refuses, and states that he only agreed to help them so they'd deliver the Cybeast back to WWW, and makes it very clear that he did not intend to defect from WWW.
  • Shout-Out: To Speed Racer—just look at his Japanese name.

Blackbeard (Captain Kurohige)

A man with violent tendencies with a tendency to talk like a pirate. In the sixth game, he attempts to cause mass chaos at the Aquarium as revenge for being fired from the Aquarium. Operator of Diveman.EXE.

Yuika (Chirol)

A rather selfish girl that will use underhanded tactics to get ahead in life. In the games, she, along with Circusman.EXE, revives Gregar and Falzar. They capture the one opposite of the version being played, while Mega Man absorbs the other. Later on, they successfully capture Mega Man for a short time, and Yuika along with everyone but Mach break off from the World Three to form their own organization.

Prosecutor Ito (Satoru Roppo)

A cheerful but cynical lawyer who wants justice, but knows that true justice cannot be achieved unless the world is destroyed. He and Judgeman.EXE serve the World Three by punishing those that fail the organization and remove those that are deemed to be a threat. They attempt to frame Yuichiro Hikari in the sixth game.

  • Amoral Attorney
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Even when he is revealed to be an enemy, his friendly personality really doesn't change that much.
  • Books That Bite: One of JudgeMan's attacks summons giant fanged books that chomp towards his opponents.
  • Expy: of Juno, while his beliefs and actions are somewhat reminiscent of Light Yagami.
  • Eyes Always Shut
  • Hypocrite: He possesses a strong hatred of criminals and anything unjust, but becomes one in the pursuit of his goals. Also, even though he believes in order, he tries to bring it about by destroying the crime-filled world.
  • Judge, Jury, and Executioner
  • Shock and Awe: Judgeman has an attack that strikes you with an electrical whip. This seems to be the only "Law" or "Justice" type attack he has since the rest seem to fit the book theme (He was originally called Bookman.EXE which makes much more sense)

Vic (Tsuyuharu Nyudo)

A man that can be described as somewhat of a lunatic with some ninja-like abilities that have never really been explained in the sixth game. He and Elementman.EXE wreak havoc with the weather by taking over Sky Town's weather control system.

Baryl (Barrel)

A rather mysterious man that has a connection with Wily, at least in the games. He forms a team with Lan and several others in the fifth game to liberate the internet from Nebula.

Colonel.EXE

Operated by Baryl. Designed by Wily and given to Baryl, Colonel was supposed to be the perfect Navi, having the best fighting capabilities while being compassionate. The compassionate part was removed (and became Iris.EXE) when Baryl's father died fighting a war.

  • Colonel Badass: Literally. Even gets a battle chip labeled "Colonel's Army" to emphasize this.
  • Chest Insignia: A thin black outline of a minus sign against a gray background. There are two black vertical bars attached to the top end and the bottom end as well.
  • Eleventh-Hour Superpower: His complete form with Iris is implied to be on or nearly the same level as Hub.bat Megaman.exe, demonstrated when he completely annihilates the Cybeast that took over Megaman in one blow without harming Megaman himself.
  • The Dragon: With Baryl in the sixth game.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: With Iris at the end of the sixth game.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Variation. He used to be far more emotional and more capable of conscience until that part of himself was spun off into a separate being called Iris.EXE.

Pharaohman.EXE

A description of the character goes here.

  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Is this one with Bass and Shadowman and by reappearing in 2 did he get fleshed out alongside appearing in Network Transmission. Even his adaptations in all media were received posivitely. The Poison Pharaoh Giga Card is a reference to his signature attack Anubis and the Program Advance.

Net Agents

Masa

A net official that is also a fisherman of sorts. He runs a beef shop. The contradiction is an intentional part of the undercover disguise. Operator of Sharkman.EXE.

Sal (Saroma)

A calm woman that loves nature and strives to protect it through non-violent means in this technology-based age. Operator of Woodman.EXE. Voiced by Kelly Sheridan in the dub.

Miyu Kuroi (Miyuki Kuroi)

A mysterious woman with strange psychic powers (perhaps not limited to sensing a very odd aura from MegaMan.EXE in the first game) that runs an antique shop. Operator of Skullman.EXE. Voiced by Anna Cummer in the dub.

Supporting Cast

Dr. Yuichiro Hikari

Lan's father, a renowned computer scientist. Voiced by Michael Adamtwaite in the dub.

  • Badass Pacifist Labcoat: In the fifth game, he holds out against being subjected to Cold-Blooded Torture for an unbelievable amount of time, and risks dying in an exploding volcano to give the man who engineered said torture one last chance at redemption.
    • To cover the Labcoat Part, in the third game; he stays inside the virus lab when it is on fire to try and minimize the damage, keep in mind, that it was over 200 Degrees Farenheit, he even leaves the hospital while recovering to locate the World 3 Headquarters
  • Generation Xerox: He continues his father's work and Lan follows closely in both their footsteps.
  • Good Parents: He's not around to raise his son as often as he probably should be, but when he is around he is a dependable father figure, and its quite clear his son and wife hold him in high regard.
  • Hot Dad: Of the Nerds Are Sexy variety.
  • Megane
  • Not That Kind of Doctor
  • Unnamed Parent: In the English versions of the first three games, he is only referred to as "Dr. Hikari" or "[Lan's] Dad." It wasn't until the Battle Chip Challenge Spin-Off that his first name was revealed, and only the 5th and 6th games mentioned it in the main series.


Haruka Hikari

Lan's mother.

  • Education Mama: Lan can NOT sneak bad grades past this woman, though given he's not one for studying, it's hard to knock her for this.
  • Good Parents: Like her husband, she's a very dutiful parent to their son, and Lan and Mega Man both respect her.
  • Hot Mom: Lampshaded in the first game by someone who thinks she's hot, then panics when he realizes he said this in front of her son.
  • Heroic BSOD: Has one in the fifth game when temporarily Brainwashed and Crazy, and it's a Tear Jerker to watch, especially because it involves her sorrow over her kidnapped husband.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the Gaiden Game (Battle Chip Challenge), she's a possible battle contestant.

Ms. Mari (Mariko Ozono)

The young teacher in Lan's elementary school.

Ribitta (Kero Midoriwaka)

A rather quirky news reporter who is so dedicated to getting the first scoop on everything to the point where she is willing to travel and film overseas without the appropriate licenses in the second game. Operator of Toadman.EXE.

Higsby (Yamitaro Higure)

A part-time teacher of sorts that also runs the local battlechip shop. In the first game, he was a member of World Three and tried to brainwash the local Akihara school into becoming World Three servants. Since that failed attempt, he cut off ties with the World Three and becomes a close friend to Lan and Mega Man's group.

NumberMan.EXE

An intelligent Navi that appears to have a huge brain of sorts encased in a light bulb. Operated by Higsby. Voiced by Samuel Vincent in the dub.

  • Chest Insignia: Dark green right angle triangle complete with a small yellow square at the base of the triangle. The triangle is set against a lighter green background.
  • Good with Numbers
  • Improbable Weapon User: Dice bombs, protractor boomerangs, and math balls. In the anime, he also uses swords that look like oversized Mahjong scoring sticks.
  • Lovable Coward: He's not the best at netbattling, but people love him anyway.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He's frankly pathetic in the first game, but in later appearances he's a far more formidable opponent.
  • Yuji Ueda

Mr. Famous (Meijin Eguchi)

A man with an outgoing personality that offers advice to young Netbattlers and tests them. Operator of Gateman.EXE, Punk.EXE, Kendoman.EXE, and Footman.EXE in the games, although he is never seen with more than one at a time.

  • Catch Phrase: "san wa iranai", or in the dub, "Famous. Just Famous.".
  • Contest Winner Cameo: All of his Navis, except Punk.
  • Creator Cameo: Mr. Famous is Masakazu "Meijin" Eguchi, a scenario writer for the EXE series (who would also get an avatar in Legend Master Shin). During the early tournaments following the release of the first game, Masakazu gained a name for himself by demonstrating mastery of the mechanics.
  • Insistent Terminology: He insists on being called "Meijin" and not "Meijin-san", and always says "san wa iranai" (roughly "no need for the -san") whenever he gets called "Meijin-san". Once, he underscores this by pointing out he isn't even over thirty, yet.
    • The dub changes this to an aversion to being called "Mr.", which is a fairly direct translation.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: With another Creator Cameo—the character of Soul Battler Takeshi. Takeshi, who only appears in certain message boards in the last few games (and who is the reason for all the "Soul" naming in 6), is the Battle Network incarnation of a much-beloved EXE tournament host whose Hot-Blooded-ness is often juxtaposed with the cool, collected Mr. Famous. Tory Froid (Tohru Hikawa)

A rather young boy whose father manages the Waterworks, which purifies and controls the water supply. Because of this, he was kidnapped and taken hostage by WWW in an attempt to force his father and Iceman.EXE to comply to the WWW's demands.

  • Ascended Extra: In the first game, he was just a random kid you rescued, and had a generic sprite. In the anime, he becomes a much more major character.
    • Demoted to Extra: And then he is hit with this in later seasons. It makes you wonder what the point of giving him a bigger role was...
  • Bilingual Bonus: "Froid" is the French word for cold.

IceMan.EXE

Operated by Tory and his father. Iceman is a rather small and cute Eskimo-type Navi specializing in ice attacks. Voiced by Samuel Vincent in the dub.

Raika

A military commander from the cold nation of Sharo, he is the operator of the sniper Searchman.EXE. They usually only cared about achieving their objectives during dangerous missions, but in the anime, they eventually warm up to the main casts' friendly personalities.

Net Mafia Gospel

This Net Mafia group makes up the villains for the second game and the second season of the anime. Their main goal in both the game and the anime is to create a beast made up of internet bugs with the power to destroy all that stand in their way.

Arashi Kazefuki

A rather mean-spirited man that makes a living out of extorting money from rich families in any way that he can. He tries to extort money from Yai's parents to fund Gospel projects by leaking dangerous gas into Yai's house at the beginning of the second game.

  • Meaningful Name: "Arashi" means "storm", and "Kaze" means "wind".
  • Oh Crap: his reaction once he notices the bomb noted below.
  • You Have Failed Me...: In the second game he is blown up by a briefcase bomb after losing to Lan and Mega Man.

Speedy Dave (Daisuke Hayami)

He is an ecoterrorist that joined Gospel out of his love of nature. He brags a lot about his IQ of 160. He is the operator of Quickman.EXE, and attempts to blow up a dam in the second game. In the anime, he is a childhood friend of Sal. Voiced by Kirby Morrow in the dub.

  • Anti-Villain: Only in the anime, as it turns out that he never truly planned to hurt anyone, and wanted to merely scare them into taking better care of nature. By the end of the episode, he has betrayed Gospel and leaves, but not before saying goodbye to Sal.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: At least in terms of the game's timeline. He sends Lan a thank you letter for stopping the infected QuickMan.EXE before he becomes an enemy in MMBN2.
  • Informed Ability: As Chaud said, his IQ of 160 didn't do him much good...

Mr. Dark/Dusk (Dark Miyabi)

A mysterious and dangerous assassin-for-hire that operates Shadowman.EXE and is feared throughout both the real and cyber worlds. He is hired by Gospel in the second game to destroy key installations that make up the network, but fails when Mega Man and Proto Man intervene. In the fifth game, after a short fight, he agrees to help MegaMan and Colonel retake the internet from Nebula.

Princess Pride

In the games, she is said to be the ruler of a small island nation known as Creamland that gained considerable power due to being one of the first to use the new internet technology. However, the larger and more powerful nations soon caught up and surpassed Creamland in terms of political power, which motivates her to join Gospel, attempt to sabotage an international Net Official meeting and kill everyone involved. She operates KnightMan.EXE. Voiced by Jillian Michaels in the dub.

KnightMan.EXE

Loyal retainer of Princess Pride, and saddled with a rather admirable case of My Master, Right or Wrong.

  • Gentle Giant: When not in combat, he's obviously a Nice Guy despite his imposing stature.
  • Heel Face Turn: He worked with Gospel in MMBN2, but only because his Princess did. In the fifth game, he joins Team Colonel alongside the Princess.
  • Mighty Glacier
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Despite claiming to have no ability to question his orders, he clearly had moral problems with being on the villainous team in the second game, but elected to remain loyal to his mistress. He joins Team Colonel by the same logic, though he joins the team rather willingly.

Gauss Magnus (Gauss Magnets)

Leader of his own company and an outward success story, he has some very bitter issues regarding having grown up poor, which is why he's a member of Gospel in the second game.

  • Overprotective Dad: Of his daughter Tesla, in the anime, albeit played for laughs.
  • The Dragon: Implied to be one for Gospel.
  • The Unfavorite: Mentions his brother Jack Count Zap got adopted into a rich family, while he had to dig himself out of poverty the hard way, and he's rather bitter about it.

MagnetMan.EXE

Gauss (and later his daughter Tesla's) Navi.

Leader of Gospel (Kid Grave)/Sean Obihiro (Shun Obihiro)

  • Chekhov's Gunman: The first time you see him in the games, he's on the same plane that a fellow Gospel agent was planning to attack. In fact, he can be seen even earlier in the Netopian Airport terminal.
    • And after you defeat said Gospel agent, he vanishes from the plane.
  • Abusive Parents: Or rather, foster parents.
  • Bratty Half-Pint / Insufferable Genius: His Manga characterization. It really grinds on Chaud's nerves.
  • Break the Cutie: His backstory.
  • Cute Shotaro Boy
  • Fan Nickname: The fanbase has a habit of calling him "Gospel Shuryou" as if it's his name and not just "Gospel boss" in Japanese.
  • Heel Face Turn: He joins forces to help Chaud and Raika defeat the darkloids in the Manga. He also seems to have repented in MMBN3 and actually snaps Lan out of brief Heroic BSOD.
  • Improbable Age

Nebula

The main antagonists for the fourth and fifth game, along with the Axess season of the anime. Nebula is mostly made up of autonomous Navis, and would rather take over the internet instead of causing its destruction. They experiment with and distribute Darkchips throughout the internet, which grant Navis incredible power but often results in the Navi's soul being tainted in various ways, including and not limited to disobeying any possible operators and an addiction to Darkchip usage.

Dr. Regal

The leader of Nebula, Dr. Regal seeks to take over the world and plunge it into an age of evil and darkness. In the fourth game, he attempts to achieve this by taking over Duo's Comet. In the fifth game, he attempts to activate Soul Net, which links humans to the internet where he can tamper with their emotions. His Navi is Laserman.EXE.

  • As Long as There Is Evil: Leaves Lan to ponder this in the epilogue of the fourth game.
  • Avenging the Villain: In the games, he's the son of Dr. Wily.
  • Beard of Evil: In the fifth game.
  • Big Bad: Games 4 and 5. Axess season and The Movie.
  • Black and Gray Morality: Mocks any conjecture of heroicism.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Makes absolutely no bones about his willingness to do horrible things to people.
    • What the Hell, Hero?: Challenges the heroes' simplistic views of Good and Evil during the climax of the fourth game. Accuses Chaud of slaughtering countless "criminal" Net Navis during his tenure as an Official, and accuses Lan of being similar when he hunted down the Net Navi responsible for severing global network connections... which almost certainly establishes him as a Troll, since the Heel Navi in question, who had to have a good idea of the magnitude of his actions, attempted kamikaze suicide when he was cornered.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: He's always been the head of Nebula, but that was largely an issue on the back burner of the story until late in the 4th game. In the 5th game he actually has a plot to enact.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Does this to Dr. Hikari in the fifth game.
    • Eye Scream: In the movie, he kidnaps Yuichirou and performs laser eye surgery on him to extract the last remaining data for Nebula Grey.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Yuichirou bowls the good doctor over in the ending of the fifth game.
  • Family-Unfriendly Death: In the anime. He also very clearly commits suicide by falling backwards off a roof in the fourth game, though the fifth reveals he lived. In the manga, he makes a successful escape with his personal submarine... until Forte catches up with him and destroys it wholesale.
    • Inflicts one on ShadeMan in Axess. It is not fun at all watching Shade screaming as his arms are ripped off. Even less pleasant is when he gets hit point blank with LaserMan's Cross Laser, which actually manages to explode out of him.
  • Heel Face Turn: Yuichirou urges him to do this, specifically returning to the mouth of an erupting Mt. Fuji to offer him a Last Second Chance. While his mind reels at this (and with good reason), Regal feebly manages to refuse. And then Papa Wily Shows Up and gives him a Bright Slap to remember. Or Not.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: His motivating principle, derived from society's rejection of his father. His plot in 5 basically amounts to him putting every human mind through hell and watching as the world tears itself apart.
  • In the Blood: A revenge-driven mad scientist? Yeah, he Turned Out Like His Father, alright. Ancestry is a recurring theme between him and Yuichirou.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His fate at the end of the fifth game.
  • Light Is Not Good: While his navi Laser Man has light-based powers, he is just as evil as his operator.
  • Mind Rape: This is basically what happens to people caught up in his version of Soul Net.
  • Not That Kind of Doctor: Shows up as a subtle play in the manga - Dr. Regal, after having been revealed as infiltrating the Ameroupan/Netopian army with Darkloids, introduces himself as "assisting with a birth."
  • One-Winged Angel: At the end of Stream, he transforms into a huge serpent with a human head. Not that it avails him much...
  • Shadow Archetype/Evil Counterpart: Of Yuichirou. World-renowned scientist responsible for major leaps in technology? Check. Child of a likewise famous scientist? Check. Develop technology intended to benefit mankind? Ha ha ha no.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: One actually went out of its way to point out who the villain was.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Well, almost. Hailing from an infamous military state, he's universally recognized as one of the most dangerous men on the planet, but in the face of imminent doom, Yuichirou and the assembled are... not entirely unwilling to work with him.

Ms. Yuri (Yuriko Ozono)

Ms. Mari's long-lost twin sister, and an high-ranking member of Nebula (in the anime). In the games, she's a former member of WWW instead.

Nebula Gray

A pure manifestation of evil that appeared within Dr. Regal's Darkchip factory during the fifth game.

  • The Corruption
  • Eldritch Abomination: The embodiment of the darkness of humanity's soul, which Dr. Regal planned to install into the Soul Server. The Soul Server being the network interfacing with every human mind on the planet.
  • Ultimate Evil - The Elemental Embodiment of Dark Power. Or, rather, Dark Power and Dark Chips are the processed forms of Nebula Gray's essence.
    • Really just a small computer-orb that can manipulate Dark Power like nobody's business. The giant beast people call Nebula Grey is simply the amalgamation of D. Power being controlled. When active the core spouts blue flame, and when inactive, it simply resembles a mechanical orb.
      • Note - this varies between adaptations. The orb is the weak point in the games only. In the anime, Forte-Cross Rockman just whales on the thing wholesale, and we only get a glimpse of the core after Nebula Gray's body has been reduced to gray goo (no, not that kind). In the manga, however, Nebula Gray is a totally self-integrated creature. Made of Dark Power, certainly, but the beast is indeed a beast.

Shademan.EXE

An autonomous Navi known as a Darkloid, navis who are infused with power from a Dark Chip. He first appeared in 4 as an independent Navi who attacked other Navis to consume their energy and kidnapped Roll.EXE to have her for "dessert". He started out invincible to all attacks, which pushed Land and Megaman into using the Dark Chip he had dropped earlier. As he died he laughed that Megaman was now infused with evil from the Darkchip. He returns in 5 as part of Nebula, occupying the Net and helping towards the activation of Soul Net. In the Axess anime Shademan was the leader of the Darkloids, turning a portion of the Net into their fortress. They were tasked by Nebula to perform missions in exchange for Dark Chips, which he discovered later would lead to their deletion. He was betrayed by Dr. Regal and his Navi Laserman and later attacked them toward the end of the series, but was deleted by the cross fusion of human and Navi.

Duo's Comet

Duo.EXE

Duo is said to be an advanced Navi from a universe far away, created to test and judge life across space and punish said life if they are deemed to be evil. His ultimate method of punishment involves slamming his comet into a planet. He arrives to judge humankind in the fourth game and in the anime season Stream.

Slur.EXE

An anime-only character, Slur is a servant of Duo, although she has a few agendas of her own regarding humankind.

Others

Bass.EXE (Forte.EXE)

In the games, he was created by Dr. Cossack around the same time that Alpha (Proto) was, and he was designed to be the world's first autonomous Navi (that is, a Navi that can function without an operator). However, he was blamed for causing bugs in Alpha's system, and several Navis were sent to delete him. He escaped into the deepest parts of the internet, but not without a scar. In the anime, he is a reincarnation of Pharoahman.EXE. He possesses one of the three Ultimate Programs, and seeks to take the other two from Mega Man and Proto Man. Bass has a hatred for humankind in both versions. Voiced by Matt Hill in the dub.

  • Badass: And HOW!
  • Blood Knight: Especially in the Manga
  • Bonus Boss: In every single game.
  • Casting a Shadow
  • Chest Insignia Concealed by his cape, it's marred by the glowing scar he received during his attempted deletion by Sci Lab.
  • Death Is Cheap: He dies or is at least defeated several times in each game, but he keeps coming back and survives even beyond the encounter with him in the sixth and final game. Due to his ability to recover from near-death due to his Get Ability program, it may actually be impossible to completely destroy him.
  • Deflector Shields: His iconic aura blocks all direct damage until the player hits him with a attack strong enough to break it down.
  • Enemy Mine: With Mega Man, in the movie.
    • In the third game, he has a very reluctant team up with Wily.
  • Expy: To the original Bass
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters
  • Kick the Son of a Bitch: What he did in the last episode of Stream would have been truly despicable... except he did it to Slur, so it's awesome!
    • Then there's the moment where he kills Dr.Regal in the manga by somehow blowing up the submarine he was escaping in.
  • Mega Manning: His Get Ability program, which allows him to take on the abilities of any virus, navi, or program he deletes. Ironic that Bass would be the only one with what is supposed to be Mega Man's signature power.
  • Pet the Dog: While he's otherwise entirely cruel and inhumane in the games, he doesn't kill Cossack despite certainly being able to. Apparently he still has at least some sympathy towards his creator.
  • Scars Are Forever
  • Stealth Pun: In the second game: "Battle is my forte!"
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: He considers himself this to Mega Man in the manga after Mega Man defeats him for the first time, which leads him to interfere and actually help Mega Man against several future villains, most prominently Nebula Grey and The combined form of Falzer and Greger at the very end of the final arc.
  • Worthy Opponent: To Mega Man in the Manga.

Life Virus (Dream Virus)

A supervirus created by Wily in an attempt to destroy the internet in the first game, it had a variety of destructive attacks, but the one thing that made this virus so dangerous was its usage of the Dream Aura, which was a powerful protective aura with no elemental weaknesses.

  • Demoted to Extra: Subverted, In Later games, the bugs the Dream Virus used became their own class, the Scuttle breed, and each carried an Dream Aura, however, this also allowed you to get your own Aura from the chips created from the virus data.

Zero.EXE

A virus/Navi hybrid of sorts in the Network Transmission game.

  • Expy: Of Zero from the Mega Man X series, of course - one of the few characters (if not the only one) to be a reference to it.

Alpha (Proto)

A prototype network of the internet, it was riddled with bugs that were thought to be of Bass's doing, but were later discovered to originate from Alpha itself. Alpha had become sentient, and its bugs began to absorb networks and causing affected devices to malfunction. All links to the internet were taken down for several weeks while Alpha was quarantined and sealed. Wily seeks to release Alpha in the third game, in which everything by then had some sort of link to the internet, to destroy the world.

Gregar (Glaga)

In the games, Gregar was the original inspiration for Gospel's beast, where Gregar was naturally formed from a mass of bugs in one part of the internet. It resembles a large green wolf, and has ridiculous movement speed unlike the stationary Gospel beast. Gregar often clashed with Falzar, causing extreme damage to the net, and both were eventually sealed within the Underground areas located near Central Area 3. In the sixth game, the seal is broken and Gregar is revived by Circusman, and depending on the version, Gregar is either captured by Circusman or absorbed by Mega Man.

Falzar (Falzer)

In the games, Falzar was created by Mayor Cain in order to fight and defeat Gregar. This backfired and caused even more damage to the net. Falzar's design is like a phoenix, and uses appropriate wind and fire-based attacks. Both Falzar and Gregar were eventually sealed within the Underground areas located near Centeral Area 3. In the sixth game, the seal is broken and Falzer is revived by Circusman, and depending on the version, Falzar is either captured by Circusman or absorbed by Mega Man.
