Mighty Moshin' Emo Rangers

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Mighty Moshin' Emo Rangers is an internet series parodying the popular Power Rangers TV series. The premise is incredibly simple, an evil alien witch shows up and starts attacking the world with monsters, so a giant floating head in a tube summons five teenagers with attitude to gain powers and save the day. Oh, and all the teenagers are emos.

The show's first season was considerably popular, even with only three episodes (two of which were repeatedly edited into more) and managed to get a huge following on the internet. Seeing that the show was a success, the makers went ahead and announced a second season, along with a kickass new trailer displaying the almost professional looking effects and incredible quality for an internet series. The fans were stoked!

Four years later, the wide majority of the fans had given up. Though completely justified, this turned out to be a bad move, because Season 2 finally showed up in 2010, and was pretty much everything it was promised to be.

Despite leading with the immature idea of making fun of emos, the series was considerably well done, and with Season Two, took even more liberties with the Power Rangers-style format.

In 2015 a low-budget 10th anniversary special was released featuring new ranger Mary Jane. The original team have a brief cameo, before being teleported to the year 2025, leaving open the possibility of a 20th anniversary special.

Tropes used in Mighty Moshin' Emo Rangers include:
  • Affectionate Parody: Though at first it may seem like a bland, Shallow Parody that only works with the basics of Power Rangers, such as the Humongous Mecha, funny costumes and Villain of the Week format, watching it after a while will reveal numerous references that only actual fans of the show would know or remember. For example, some monsters would sport names about as silly as Chunky Chicken or Pudgy Pig, the Emo Fight Bot announces it's activation much like the Megazord, and the Green Ranger saga is given tribute with the Chronic Stoner Emo Ranger and the Straight x Edge Emo Ranger episode.
  • An Asskicking Christmas: The Rangers take on a Humongous Mecha driving Santa Clause to save Christmas.
  • Bad Santa: In the Christmas Special, Santa appears as the main antagonist, piloting a giant robot shaped like himself.
  • Balloon Belly: A girl becomes morbidly obese thanks to Burger Clown.
  • Bat Deduction: After seeing how ridiculous the New Rave fans are dressed, Luke realises the only possible explanation is that aliens are involved.
  • BFG: The Rangers combine their weapons to make one. It also has a pedophile setting.
  • Big Bad: The Evil Empress.
  • Black Comedy Rape: After the rangers defeat Avril Bot, lead ranger Ross rebuilds her to be an unwilling sex bot.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The Hoodie Patrol is made up of teenagers hypnotised by the Evil Empress. That dosn't stop the Rangers beating the shit out of them.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Much to the surprise of everyone, the Evil Empress apparently gives up her plans for world conquest once her plan with Sold Ya Boy fail. But that's okay, we've got a bunch of other villains for the Rangers to deal with.
  • Coconut Superpowers: We do get to see the Rangers use their weapons a few times, but most of the fight scenes happen unmorphed, somewhat implying that the Emo Ranger Armour is more like safety equipment for driving the Emozords.
  • Combining Mecha: The Emozords, of course. The Mega Emozord can combine with the Fashion x Core Emozord to create an even more powerful one, but only in Season One.
  • Crazy Prepared: The Ranger's BFG has a pedophile setting. Really.
  • Dawson Casting: Emos, yes. Kids? Not so much.
  • Duke Nukem Forever: Season 2 will be out by the end of the year, I swear it. Just you wait...oh wait, it actually did...
  • Emo Teen: The stars of the show.
  • Expy: Most of the Rangers are only expies of their Power Ranger counterparts due to their color. Some more straightforward examples would be Captain Emohead (Zordon), The Evil Empress (Rita Repulsa), Emo 5(Alpha 5), Stef (Kimberly), The Hoodie Patrol (Putty Patrol), Colonol Crusher (vaguely Goldar) and Sold Ya Boy (Soldier Boy).
  • Fan Nickname: Emozords for the giant robots. In Season 2, the combined robots is called the 'Emo Fight Bot.'
  • Fridge Horror: Burger Clown makes burgers out of emos. Captain Emohead has eaten one before...
  • Hero Insurance: Captain Emohead thinks a death toll of only 10,000 is a good day's work.
  • Humongous Mecha: This is a Power Rangers parody, right?
  • Hurricane of Puns: Bearly Legal, and Would you like Cries with that are not for the faint of heart.
  • Informed Ability: Apparently Vicken has a Weeping Tear attack to 'cry the bad guys away.' Luke himself is said to have excellent leg power, maybe used twice (once by his Emozord). I also hear he hates everything.
  • Irony: Ross, along with everyone else, is given a cool new look for Series Two, making him look very definative, especially when compared to his Season One appearance. By the time his episode strolls by, it seems he couldn't be bothered with it any more.
  • It Just Bugs Me: Why is Vicken's (Yellow Weeping Tear Ranger) Emozord a dragon? Originally Stef's was a bird, but that was remedied in Season 2 by changing it into a Lady Bug which is somewhat more fitting. But, what does a dragon have to do with emos?
    • I see it as a reference to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Season 3, and then Power Rangers Samurai. Basically, she first has a wolf, which is the Blue Ranger's zord in Season 3. In Samurai, the Blue Ranger has a Chinese Dragon(just like Vicken does). Now, while she's the Yellow Ranger, another notable thing is that the Chronic Stoner Ranger soon became the Straight Edge Ranger(who's a Samurai, basically). Put two and two together, and the reference is fairly obvious.
      • Season 2 came out one year before Power Rangers Samurai.
  • Large Ham: ->HI! I'M CAPTAIN EMOHEAD!
  • Make My Monster Grow: Surprisingly, only played straight once. The first enemy of the Rangers, Colonel Crusher, starts out giant, is then shown small, then turned giant again. All other enemies were either defeated on the ground, or used Humongous Mecha. The reason being that most episode villains were produced in live action while the Emo Fight Bot was completely CG.
  • Monster Clown: Burger Clown, who ground up annoying Emo Kids into ultra fattening hamburgers and has a trio of enormous robots shaped like junk food.
  • Mooks: The Rangers have encountered many hypnotised teenagers, but the Hoodie Patrol are the only official minions. Oddly, The Evil Empress only uses them in Season 1, in Season 2 she uses an army of Teddy Bears and some teens under Sold Ya Boy's command; when they next appear, Burger Clown is their leader.
  • Narm: In spades.
  • No Indoor Voice: Again, ->HI! I'M CAPTAIN EMOHEAD!
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: In Bearly Legal and You Want Cries With That, the entire cast begins shouting these every few seconds.
  • Put on a Bus: Emo 5 in season 2. Captain Emohead had to sell him on eBay to pay the phone bill that Ross had racked up using sex lines.
  • Reality Ensues: Well, more like implied. After defeating the monster Uncle Cuddles and Fiddles, Captain Emohead congratulates the team on another victory, then considers calling the police considering that the monster was a pedophile.
  • Recruit Teenagers with Attitude: Just make sure they're all emos, first.
  • Saving Christmas: From ol' Saint Nick himself, no less.
  • Space Pirates: The New Rave pirates.
  • Spoof Aesop: If you meet a guy on the internet, make sure you bring friends with lots of weapons in case he's a monster pedophile.
  • Sixth Ranger: Fai the Purple Fashion x Core Emo Ranger. She even gets her own robot. Later on, John the Green Chronic Stoner Emo Ranger gives up his drug habits and becomes the Blue Straight x Edge Emo Ranger.
