  • Carnival Nights Act 2 on Sonic The Hedgehog 3. I was stuck at that stupid Barrel of Doom for nine years. I know, it's sad.
  • Stage 15 from the first Castlevania. If you can somehow wade through all the axe knights and copious swarms of medusa heads without dying (I would like to remind you that by this point in the game four hits kills you, and the only health-increasing power up in this block was very far behind you), then you have Death himself to deal with at the end of the hall. He does go down easy with a quick swarm of spammed fire bombs, but in order to pull that off you have to carry that weapon all the way from almost the very beginning of the dungeon without either dying one single time or accidentally picking up another weapon. Again, four hits means death. Good luck, motherfucker.
  • "Save Me" from Lemmings. Anyone who has ever played this level will know exactly what I mean.
  • The Collector ship. Their home base , by comparison, is a climax that somehow manages to top the one in the first game.
  • Quick Man's stage.
  • World 4-1 in Super Mario Bros.. My very first That One Level.
  • I've been playing video games for a long time and I've got quite a few of these vying for first place, but nothing has made more people I know utterly lose interest in finishing a game than that stupid turret sequence in Dead Space where you have to shoot through an asteroid field. It's boring, it's difficult, it's jarringly out of place in the game, it goes on for way too long and the asteroids look like meatballs.

  • "The Touch", from Transformers: The Movie - Prior to it, the Transformers were fighting a lost battle. Then the music sets in and Optimus Prime singlehandedly proceeds to change the tide of the battle.

  • I want to nominate Tohsaka Rin, mainly because she is an example of a tsundere done RIGHT. She avoids all the cliches that have ruined the trope—she does not switch bipolar-style from bitchy to sweet and back for no real reason; her tsun side is not mean, psychopathic, or cartoonishly violent, and her dere side is not ridiculously passive or naive; and the mere fact that she is a tsundere does not preclude her from being an individual in her own right, complete with Character Development. (And admittedly, the grade S Zettai Ryouiki doesn't hurt either.)
