My Villain Gang

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

My Villain Gang is a My Hero Academia Doujinshi that explores a popular fan idea: What if Izuku became a villain instead of the hero like in canon? The point of divergence began when All Might instead of praising Izuku for his attempted rescue of Bakugo from the Sludge villain, Izuku was instead reprimanded for his reckless actions. What follows next was a serious case of Trauma Conga Line for Izuku as his dreams are shattered until he couldn't take it anymore and attempted to end it all. As he was about to walk off the roof, All For One stepped in and took him in under his wing. What happens next will end up changing the course of the story. It can be found here.

Tropes used in My Villain Gang include:
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Izuku in canon had it rough but this fan comic puts him through a far worse emotional wringer.
  • Adaptational Badass: In canon, the League of Villains subjugated the Meta Liberation Army and brought them under their fold to form the Paranormal Liberation Front. In this fancomic, thanks to having Izuku among their ranks, the Meta Liberation Army was essentially wiped out along with similar groups.
    • Kota Izumi and the Mahoro Twins are still kids with the inexperience of using their quirks in canon. In this story? they become the first Nomu/human hybrids with enhancements to their quirks, making them deadly combatants.
    • Dabi thanks to him now getting his own Ice Quirk earlier and having control over it compared to his canon counterpart.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Izuku is a downplayed example as while he is still has some of his more noble traits, he is more willing to use Nomu Child Soldiers to accomplish his goal.
    • Likewise, Gentle Criminal, La Brava and Lady Nagant still follow Izuku. However, whereas in canon they pull a Heel Face Turn and side with the heroes, in this story they side with the villains.
    • A more obvious example is Hitoshi Shinso who went from being a student at UA to being part of Izuku's Terror Team.
  • Affably Evil: Even though Izuku maybe a villain, he still have some of his more amicable traits that allows him to be pleasant to be around with.
  • Ascended Extra: Mustard is a downplayed example, as he was not taken prisoner and continues to remain being a part of the League of Villains yet only still has a few scenes.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Tenya Iida loses his left leg in Chapter two while Kai Chisaki loses both his arms like in canon in Chapter Five.
  • Anti-Villain: Izuku Midoriya is this in the story.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Izuku in this story takes his gear based off his mentor All For One.
  • Broken Pedestal: All Might (and by extension, the whole of Hero Society) ends up becoming this to Izuku.
  • Dark Messiah: What makes Izuku so dangerous is that he has the ability to empathize with the suffering of those around him as well as having the charisma to do so. This attracts a stronger and more loyal following compared to his mentor All For One who uses coercion and fear.
  • Darth Vader Clone: Izuku in this story has many parallels with Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars. Both of them were once young kids with ideals that were shattered by reality, both Suffered severe burns that forced them to be on life support. Both of them lost their mothers. And finally, both of them went from young, innocent kids to frightening villains.
  • Death by Adaptation: Poor Inko was tricked into a government project that would transfer her quirk to Izuku. The procedure was a failure and lost her life. This was the final straw for Izuku Midoriya to fully cement his status as being part of the League of Villains.
    • Muscular was killed by Kota in Chapter 2 after Kota got enhanced to be the first Nomu/human hybrid.
  • Demoted to Extra: As the story is shifted to focus more on the villains, familiar faces like Ochaco Uraraka for example, are given less focus.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: By Chapter 2, the shine of Izuku's eyes has all but disappeared.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Izuku is disgusted with how Kai Chisaki and the Shie Hassaikai go about their business upon reading Eri's memories.
  • Evil Counterpart: Dabi, even more so as now he has access to his own ice quirk giving him his own malevolent version of Shoto Todoroki's dual quirk.
  • Evil Genius: Izuku's smarts is what makes him the brains to the League of Villains operations and a deadly foe to the heroes.
  • Expy: Izuku in this story shares many similar traits to Buddy Pine/Syndrome from The Incredibles
  • Face Heel Turn: At some point, Hitoshi Shinso was convinced to abandon UA and join the Villains.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Tomura Shigaraki and Izuku started off icy at best but by Chapter three and beyond. The two have become very close tight-knit friends.
  • Foil: In regards to Izuku's relationships:
    • For Mentor/idols, it's All For One and All Might
    • For his closest friend, it's Tomura Shigaraki and Katsuki Bakugo.
  • For Want of a Nail: The whole story can be summed up as how one small decision could have a massive impact on the overall story.
  • Friend to All Children: A darker example, while Izuku still befriends those like Kota Izumi and the Shimano Twins, that being Katsuma and Mahoro, it didn't stop him from turning the three of them into highly advanced Nomus technically making the three of them Child Soldiers.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Izuku went from a quirkless bullied kid, to having everything taken from him to becoming one of the most feared Villains in all of Japan.
    • By extension the whole League of Villains as a whole. A bunch of rejects trampled on by society soon became on of the most dangerous threats among Japan and by extension the entire world.
  • Grey and Gray Morality: The story shows that both sides have good and bad aspects:
    • For the Heroes: The society and the system is corrupt but they are also the ones that maintain order and safety. Even if it's for non-altruistic reasons.
    • For the Villains: They lash out at the innocent and cause havoc, however, their motivations are driven by the fact they are ostracized and abandoned by an uncaring society with little to no help.
  • Interrupted Suicide: Izuku was about to take Bakugo's suggestion to take a swan dive off a high building only to be rescued by All For One.
  • In Spite of a Nail: All For one still loses his battle to All Might in Kamino ward.
  • Karmic Death: In Chapter 2, Muscular is killed by the orphan of whose parents he killed.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: A villainous example, Izuku knows the future he has planned is hard and dangerous but he still tries to do so for the sake of his new companions.
  • Morality Chain/Morality Pet: It goes both ways for Izuku and the League of Villains:
    • For The League of Villains: Izuku's affable and noble personality brings out the more better aspects for the Villains allowing them to show more humanizing traits. Most notable is Himiko Toga and Dabi.
    • For Izuku: The League acts as a surrogate family to him, giving him a purpose to fight for them and their futures.
  • Protagonist's Journey to Villain
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Magne survives her encounter with Kai Chisaki as she is seen participating in the final battle against the heroes.
    • Likewise Twice is rescued by Izuku and Dabi during his clash with Hawks.
    • Himiko Toga survives as well due to not having to sacrifice herself for Ochaco Uraraka.
  • Theme Naming: Kota and the Shimano Twins' code names are named after Greek mythological creatures such as Kraken for Kota, Echidna for Mahoro and Titan for Katsuma.
  • True Companions: The League of Villains, despite being... Well, villains are shown that they are a tightly knit group. All who are drawn together through shared pain and suffering.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: All Might's well intention-ed scolding towards Izuku had unforeseen consequences that would cause alot of heartache for everyone in Japan.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: A side chapter shows a flashback Izuku and Inko in more hopeful times.
  • Villain Protagonist: The story focuses on Izuku and the League of Villains.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Izuku and Bakugo used to be childhood friends but as shown in the story, that relationship has long be burned to ashes.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Izuku's main goal is to create a future where people like him and the League do not have to suffer anymore. Even if he has to tear down all of Japan's hero society to do so.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Mirio Togata is as idealistic as ever despite everything that has happened.
