What Do You Mean It's Not Awesome?: At one point Servo creates new constellations to reflect modern ideals. Crow, in a deliberate invocation of this trope, pitches in with a constellation consisting of two stars: "It's a pencil; the eraser's almost gone!"

Servo: Crow, don't mock me, you're playing with fire!
Crow: Hey! It's a pencil; what could be more modern?
Servo: [darkly] I weep for the death of the spirit and the soul!
Joel: [cheerfully] Hey, who doesn't?

- Servo's one to complain; his "ham sammach" constellation (with a single star forming a "perfect pickle") wasn't much better.
