Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Mystery Science Theater 3000

Mike: You have no butt!
Servo: You're just jealous, Nelson! You wish you had my butt! I like my butt!!

    • The New England Journalist jokes.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: Servo's ode to the 70's (that is, 70-79 A.D.), as well as "Do You Remember the 50's?" (same mistake).

Back in the super-bad seventies
the party did never stop!
The city of Pompeii was doin' fine
until Vesuvius blew its top!

Dinobot has spoken. My rigid grill structure is bearing down on your unprotected cargo door. -- Tom Servo Riding With Death

    • Dinobot's voice actor, Scott McNeil, was actually convinced to say the "rigid grill structure" line in-character at a convention.
    • Incidentally, this episode seems to be the major contributor to the MSTing meme/Running Gag of Crow making lewd jokes and getting a First Name Ultimatum chastised by Joel or Mike. Which is also an example of Character Exaggeration.
  • Mondegreen: In the climax of the second "half", Jim Stafford says something that the MST crew hears as "New England journalists", which prompts a lively debate over the merits of journalists from all over our fine country.
  • Reverse Funny Aneurysm: Mike's riff of "We'd like you to consider Scientology!" when thugs attack Casey in the second part of the "movie" takes on new meaning in these times of South Park and Anonymous.
    • Mike also does a riff about Sam getting his "swine flu results" as part of a larger running gag about this clearly being the 1970s. In light of the swine flu scare of 2009, however...
  • Vindicated by Cable: TV broadcasts of the Riding with Death were getting few and far between when Mystery Science Theater 3000 gave it a brief bump into the limelight.
