• Alternate Character Interpretation: Recently, Suzu. Is she still as innocent as she was at the beginning, even though her being a Clingy Jealous Girl is becoming more and more blatant as time passes?
• Crazy Awesome: Machi. Blowdart machine gun. Seriously.
  • That's just the first thing she showed us.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Machi, who pulls off Comedic Sociopathy to insane levels many times, and yet she still retains the "comedic" part.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: The climax of the Scavenger Hunt Story Arc, where Ikuto defeats Karaage, the Western (and most powerful) Leader. Karaage's Oh Crap before the finishing blow was the icing on the cake.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: The Anime manages to insert one in its Gecko Ending, where Misaki asks why Ikuto wants to return to Airantou instead of coming with her: it's because there's someone (Suzu) waiting for Ikuto back on the island. Sure it's to return to the Status Quo, but still.
  • Why does Beniyasha exist? So that Shizuka/Beniyasha can fullfill her future husband Kiyomasa's dream of reliving a mystery like in those novels he likes.
• Les Yay: Take a look at this (specifically, the bottom panel). She's your soul mate, Michiru? Okay, no lesbian undertones to that...
  • Also, Karaage's little comment about this.
  • In one chapter, Chikage really enjoyed playing with Suzu's hair.
    • Again with Chikage. Sure, she thinks it's For Science!, but...
  • This scene with Ayane and Suzu is a rather blatant example.

• Nightmare Fuel:

  • Pfft. Small potatoes compared to this.
• Tastes Like Diabetes: The post credits scene of episode 13 is very sweet.
• Uncanny Valley: One chapter shows that Mei Mei really likes to make costumes based on normal animals (that is, the ones outside of Airantou). Ikuto and Tohno, having been already accustomed to the appearance of the latter set of animals, were caught completely off-guard.
• Unfortunate Implications: Mei-Mei is a stereotypical Chinese Girl to the point of parody. Shy and conservative to a fault? Check. Loads of (identical-looking) siblings? Check. Terrified of police (due to implications of illegal immigration)? Check. Grew up as an acrobat/performer? Check.
  • May even be a parody of the stereotype. It's hard to be sure when it comes to comedy.
• Values Dissonance: Yashiro, Machi and Ayane's great-grandmother claims to be 64...which means that each generation would have had to give birth at age 16. The villagers still live as they did in feudal Japan, and back then it was common to get married by the age of 14, as Ikuto sadly found out. The dwindling male population may also play a part.
• The Woobie: Suzu. Both parents missing, and her feelings are conflicted over wanting Ikuto to either stay or leave the island. Ouch.
