Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

This page refers to various organizations, villainous or not, as a whole. Information about more minor characters within said organizations is also included.

East Blue Saga

Red-Hair Pirates

The crew of Shanks, and the first pirates to be seen in the series. Among their ranks are first-mate Ben Beckman, rotund Lucky Roo, Usopp's father Yasopp and several (as-yet-unidentifed) elite members seen at Dawn Island and again at the finale of Marineford as well as Rockstar, a rookie who just recently joined. Their antics and talk of freedom on the seas are what inspired Luffy to be a pirate.

  • Animal Motif: The crew uses a red dragon as tattoos and the figurehead of their ship.
  • Badass Crew: The first seen.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Lucky Roo is a fat, jovial guy who's constantly smiling and eating. He's also the first person to score a killing on One Piece.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Whenever they're not partying, it's this, apparently, having saved Luffy at childhood and at Marineford, ending the war with their presence alone.
  • Big Fun: Lucky Roo.
  • Big Eater: Lucky Roo is always seen eating a piece of meat on a bone. Even when he headshots a mountain bandit!
  • Elite Mook: Rockstar the Rookie. A former solitary pirate with a bounty of 97 millions. And, is a Rookie.....
  • Honor Before Reason: Subverted. When Rockstar feels insulted by the Whitebeard Pirates he's told by Shanks to ignore honor and come back alive instead.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Yassop claims he can shoot the whiskers off an ant. This was after he shot an apple sitting on a table in the distance.
  • The Lancer: Beckman to Shanks.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Lucky Roo is quite fast in spite of his bulk.
  • Not So Harmless: Underestermating these guys because of their partying nature can a huge mistake, as a bunch of no-account mountain bandits found out.
  • One-Man Army: Beckman alone managed to annihilate the mountain bandits by using a cigarette and a rifle. No, he didn't shoot them, he used said rifle as a club.
  • Only Sane Man: Beckman is much more reserved when compared to his outlandish crewmates.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: When Rockstar arrives on Whitebeard ship as a messenger, he boasts about his days as a lone wolf. Marco quickly tells him that they never ever heard of him.
  • Smart Guy: Accoding to Oda, Ben Beckman has the highest IQ amount of those seen up till volume 8, above Kuro and Nami.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Lucky Roo is spelled as Roux in the Viz translations.

The Mountain Bandits

A crew of bandits lead by Higuma, a man with a bounty of 8 millions berry. They live on Foosha Island and taunt the Red Hair pirates. However when they're eventually engaged in combat, they suffers a massive defeat.

  • Bullying a Dragon: Higuma break a bottle on Shanks head, pour more sake on him and mock he and his crew. He manages to get out alive only because Shanks is a Nice Guy.
  • Curb Stomp Battle: Ben Beckman take care of the whole gang using a cigarette and his rifle. As a bludgeon.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: In some translations Higuma is give the nickname of "The Bear". Making him "Brown Bear the Bear".
  • Dirty Coward: As soon as he finds out that Shanks is actually a strong guy....
  • Eaten Alive: By the giant sea monster.
  • Lean and Mean: Ironically, his name means "Bear"...
  • Oh Crap: First, when he see his band smashed by a single man. He has another one just before being eaten by the giant sea monster.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He believes to be the lord of the land just because he has a 8 millions bounty. To give you an idea, the very first starter villain Albida had at least a 10 million bery bounty.
  • Smoke Out: Use a smoke bomb to escape from Shanks along with Luffy.

Buggy Pirates

The crew of the (in)famous pirate Buggy the Clown, a Circus themed gang of mooks. The most notable members are Mohji the Tamer & the First Mate, Cabaji the Acrobat & Second Mate, and Richie, a huge lion who serves as Moji's pet. Later, Alvida joins the crew. After the Marineford War, the crew now hosts several powerful criminals from Impel Down who were freed by Buggy.

Black Cat Pirates

The former crew of Captain Kuro, now led by Jango, is composed of pirates wearing cat ears. Their purpose in Kuro's plan is to attack the village and kill Kaya, so that Kuro can put his hands on her goods, though he actually plans to get rid of them as well. Notable members include Jango the Hypnotist, and the Meowban Brothers, Siam and Butchie

Baratie

The chefs that cook for the ocean-going restaurant Baratie. Headed by the eatery's founder, the ex-pirate Red Leg Zeff, these cooks dish out food for their customers...and pain for any trouble-making pirate. In fact, most people come to the Baratie just to watch the cooks and pirates duke it out. Among the staff are two cooks, Patty and Carne, who seem to act as a comedy duo when together. Sanji himself used to work here, until Zeff convinced him to go join the Straw Hats and follow his dreams in the Grand Line.

  • Badass Crew: They're not pirates, but let's face it, these are the most badass salarymen in the East Blue. They might as well be the precursors of the Galley-La.
  • Badass Grandpa: Zeff.
  • Badass Mustache: Zeff's, which is so long he braids it.
  • Bash Brothers: Patty and Carne
  • BFG: Patty's lobster-shaped cannon, whose projectile is called "Meatball of Doom".
  • Blade on a Stick: All the staff uses oversized forks and knives as weapons. Patty and Carne are later shown with giant spoons on their attempted last sneak attack on Sanji.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Zeff can destroy boulders, leave imprints in steel, and even blow out fire with the wind from his kicks.
  • Chef of Iron: The entire kitchen staff are type 2.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Patty[1] and Carne[2].
  • Handicapped Badass: Zeff, who can still stop flaming bullets with a swing from his peg-leg.
  • Life or Limb Decision: In the manga, Zeff lost his leg because he ATE IT TO SURVIVE. In the anime, this was changed to just losing it saving a young Sanji from drowning. When Luffy refuses to work off his debt for a year, Zeff whips out a saw and demands a leg instead. Luffy simply responds that he can't, because he's not Buggy.
  • Nice Hat: Zeff's chefs hat is so tall that its top is rarely seen in any panels. Oda calls it a PILLAR OF FAITH!
  • Retired Badass: Zeff.
  • Those Two Guys: Patty and Carne, again.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Patty and Carne, Sanji and Zeff, Sanji and the other cooks. They may argue, fight, and make threats, but when the chips are down, they come together against any attacking pirate.

Kriegs' Armada

The most numerous pirate crew of East Blue, composed of fifty warships. Their attempt to conquer the Grand Line was crushed by Mihawk, who destroyed the whole fleet by himself. They manage to beat the Baratie cooks by sheer numbers but are easily bested by Sanji and Luffy. Notable members include Gin, the second-in-command, and Pearl, the fighter and commander of the second fleet.

  • Almighty Janitor: Gin is introduced as a simple pirate from Krieg's crew but later revealed to be the best warrior of the Armada and one of the commanders.
  • Badass: Gin.
  • Berserk Button: The crew is pissed when Luffy states that they're just the most numerous crew in the East Blue, not the strongest.
  • Blood Knight: Gin is called "Kijin" because he's very ruthless and shows no mercy..except to Sanji, who was nice to him.
  • The Brute: Pearl.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Gin.
  • The Dragon: Gin.
  • Dual Tonfas: Gin dual wields steel tonfas tipped with cannonballs.
  • Family-Unfriendly Violence: Let's face it: Pearl's brutal beating on Sanji in the manga was quite nasty and bloody.
  • Foreshadowing: Krieg and his Armada have many similarities with Whitebeard himself: both are very large and feared fleet, the captains wields polearms, their second-in-charge is nicknamed after a mythological creature and Pearl's abilities are a weaker mix of those of Ace and Jozu.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Pearl is totally covered in shields with nasty steel bulges in the middle, which he uses as weapons.
  • Made of Iron: Gin, who somehow managed to survived the MH-5 gas attack.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Gin serves Krieg only out of respect.
  • Redshirt Army: Fifty ships. 5000 men. The East Blue calls it an invasion force. the Grand Line (Mihawk in particular) calls it target practice.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Pearl, who believes to be invincible, strong, handsome and cool. He's so wrong ...
  • Wreathed in Flames: When he bleeds, Pearl covers his shields with strange white flames and tosses fiery bullets all around him.
  • You Have Failed Me...: To Gin
  • Zerg Rush: Basically the main strategy for the crew. Luffy calls them out on this.

Arlong's Pirates

A crew composed by fishmen, who split off from another crew called the Sunny Pirates, once under the rule of Fisher Tiger and later Jinbei. This small portion of the crew led by Arlong who settled in the East Blue in order to start an empire of Fishmen. The most important members include Momoo the Sea Cow, Hatchan the octopus man (see Major Allies), Kuroobi the Manta Ray fishman and Choo, an Archerfish fishman. To keep the heat off them, they regularly bribe a corrupt Marine Captain named Nezumi.

  • Arrogant Kung Fu Guy: Kuroobi, bonus points for actually being a karateka, Fishman Karateka that is.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Mohmoo.
  • Badass Crew
  • The Cameo: They make a cameo in Hatchan's mini-arc and in a flashback on Sabaody. Momoo is seen with the Caribou Pirates and has a nasty shock as he recognized Luffy and Sanji.
    • Have a more extensive one during the Fishman Island arc which more or less is their Start of Darkness.
  • Curb Stomp Battle: Kuroobi delivered one to Sanji underwater, but received one later on land.
  • Dirty Cop: Nezumi
  • Fantastic Racism: Nearly all of them share Arlong's hatred of humans with the exception of Hachi who probably just followed Arlong on a whim, Nami even admitted he wasn't as bad as the others.
  • Five-Bad Band:
  • Gatling Good: Choo can shoot water bullets like a machine gun For Massive Damage.
  • Making a Splash: Especially Choo who can shoot water bullets out of his huge lips.
  • Moral Myopia: They set up shop in East Blue knowing it was the weakest sea and forced the inhabitants of Cocoyashi to pull them Arlong Park, which later in the series is shown to be a replica of Shabody's buildings which is home to some of the worst humans in the series, The Celestrial Dragons. This was more or less their way of saying "Ha, now we have one too!".
  • Oh Crap: Momoo, whenever he meets the Straw Hats... or is threatened by Arlong.
    • Nezumi had an epic one after Arlong's defeat, where he states that he'll take the credit for defeating Arlong and take over Cocoyashi Village.... only to be grabbed by Zoro from behind. Violent and well deserved beatdown ensues...
  • Prehensile Hair: Kuroobi, apparently.
  • Punny Name: Kuroobi means Black Belt, Choo is the sound of kissing, and Nezumi means rat.

Baroque Works Saga

Wapol Pirates

This crew is actually composed of the former soldiers of Drum Kingdom under Wapol's rule. Its elite members are Chess and Kuromarimo who were former advisors. In the ninth movie, Musshuru, Wapol's elder brother is introduced. Later, Chess and Kuromarimo are "merged" by Wapol in the warrior Chessmarimo.

Baroque Works

Baroque Works is a fearsome organization of bounty hunters which is actually aiming to take over Alabasta Kingdom. The agents have all code names based on numbers (men) or days (women) and can count on a large number of nameless Mooks. The Oficer Agents are the strongest members and almost all of them ate a Devil Fruit. Their leaders are Mr. 0 (aka Crocodile) and Miss All Sunday (Nico Robin). For Mr. 2 Bon Clay, look at Major Allies.

Skypiea Saga

Bellamy's Pirates

A crew of "new age" pirates who no longer believe in dreams and adventures, but only in loot and gold. They were once part of Doflamingo's crew. The only notable member (other than Bellamy) is his vice-captain "Big Knife" Sarquiss.

Saruyama Alliance (Monkey Mountain Alliance)

A small alliance composed by two pirate crews and a former pirate, Montblanc Cricket, the descendant of the legendary seafarer Montblanc Noland, who was considered a liar by his people (it's a long story). The other two captains, Masira and Shoujou, are fans of Noland's tales and thus stick out with the old man who wants to prove that his ancestor was right. After Eneru's defeat, the sound of the bell heard on the island proves that he was.

  • The Atoner: Cricket wants to prove that his ancestor was not a liar.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Masira and Shoujou who were fans of the Noland tale. So helping his descendant was a dream come true
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Masira is strong enough to one shot a sea monster with one blow.
  • Cool Old Guy: Cricket.
  • Combat Pragmatist: After going melee on Sanji and having his punch blocked, he swiftly pulls out a pistol and shoots.
  • Gonk: Masira and Shoujou both look more like apes than they look like humans.
    • However, they enjoy looking like that.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: All of them, though Montblanc Cricket stands out.
    • Jerkass Woobie: Cricket however, had to deal with the shame of his heritage because of the legacy left behind by Norland. His own (original) crew abandoned him when he decided to resolve his issues that the shame placed upon his ancestor. He initially was annoyed with the Masira and Shoujou for being fans of the tale. But came to love them and admitted he was glad they came along as the loneliness after being abandoned by his original crew was unbearable.
  • Like a Son to Me: How Cricket came to view Masira and Shoujou over time. Indeed they do act like a father and sons.
  • Made of Iron: All of them took an absolute ass-kicking courtesy of the Bellamy Pirates, but as soon as they were bandaged up, they started working on the Going Merry again. Usopp lampshaded this.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: Shoujou can use his voice as a sonar and can wreak havoc on the surroundings with his sound waves.
  • Rapunzel Hair: Shoujou claims to have never had a haircut in his life. It shows.
  • Retired Badass: Cricket, who managed to fight on equal grounds against Sanji before succumbing to his illness.
  • Visual Pun: Masira's name comes from the old word for monkey (mashira), and both him and Shoujou (Orangutan) resemble their respective animals.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Shoujou's hair is green (and super long).

Blackbeard Pirates

The small yet mighty pirate crew of the evil pirate Marshall D. Teach aka Blackbeard. Despite their small size, they're powerful enough to take on a whole kingdom, like Drum. First met at Jaya, they later reappear on Banaro Island where they capture Ace. After the events of Impel Down, the crew is now strengthened by several legendary criminals and is heading to the New World. His members are Van Augur the marksman, Jesus Burgess the fighter, Doc Q the doctor, Lafitte the navigator, and from Impel Down, Shilliew the swordsman, Catarina Devon, Avalo Pizarro, Vasco Shot and Sanjuan Wolf, all former Level Six prisoners.

After the Time Skip, they have replaced the Whitebeard Pirates as one of the Four Emperors as confirmed in Chapter 650.

  • Affably Evil: Especially Lafitte.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Sanjuan Wolf really earns his nickname (Colossal Battleship).
  • Badass Crew: Undeniably.
  • Beast Man: Avalo Pizarro seems to be some sort of cat-man hybrid.
  • Because Destiny Says So: They're all a bunch of fatalists.
  • BFG: Van Augur has a very big, long rifle.
  • Blood Knight: Burgess has shades of this.
  • Boobs of Steel: Catarina Devon is said to be the most dangerous female criminal in the world, and her bust is surprisingly big.
  • Butter Face: Catarina Devon has a wonderful body, coupled with a hideous face.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Burgess can lift a whole inn and toss it while he's jumping.
  • Dark Action Girl: Catarina Devon.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Lafitte, whose looks is based off a Bifauxnen musician. In other words, he's a guy that looks like a girl that looks like a guy that looks like a girl.
  • Dull Surprise: The typical expression of Van Augur, except for a tiny instance of Slasher Smile while fightning Ace.
  • Dumb Muscle: Burgess is not really smart.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Van Auger is introduced sniping seagulls too far away to be seen by the naked eye. Doc Q, even more tellingly, is giving out apples in town... some, but not all of which are poisoned.
  • Evil Counterpart: To the Strawhat pirates. But unlike them, is shown that they don't really think at each other as nakama.
    • Well, the original members seem to do, but not so much the new ones. Probably because at least 4/5 of them were infamous Captains now serving a relative upstart.
  • Fat Bastard: Vasco Shot.
  • Five-Bad Band:
  • Gag Nose: Vasco Shot and, on a lesser degree Blackbeard and Devon.
  • Gonk: Many of them. This seems to be in contrast to the Straw Hat Pirates, who are either pretty, cool, or cute. Meanwhile, the Blackbeard Pirates are deliberately ugly. The only exceptions being Van Augur (who's simply average looking) and Lafitte (who's more creepy-looking than ugly).
  • Guns Akimbo: Some of them have pistols on them. Avalo Pizarro appears to have guns attached to his forearms. or drills, hard to tell.
  • Hollywood Cyborg: Pizarro, when first introduced hand Drill-like hands and then back to normal. If it's not a limb-weapon Paramecia, he may be this.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Van Auger can snipe down seagulls when they're not even in sight and can easily tell if the shot was fatal or not.
  • Lean and Mean: Van Auger.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Lafitte is really fast on his feet.
  • Made of Iron: In a Anime-only scene, Burgess takes a solid punch from Monkey D. Garp, the guy who went toe-to-toe with Roger, with surprisingly little pain.
    • That's nothing compared to the shockwave Sengoku delivered to them in Buddha form which sent them flying. All of them, even Doc Q and freakin' Stronger got up almost immediately.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Catarina and Pizarro's titles, (Crescent Moon Huntress and Corrupted King) are yet to be explained.
  • Not So Harmless: Doc Q is more dangerous than you think.
    • It should be noted that when the crew captured Jewlery Bonney, Blackbeard declared her as too weak for the crew and offered she'd be his woman instead. Bonney, mind you, is one of the Eleven Supernovas with a bounty of 140,000,000 belli. This means that Blackbeard considers Doc Q is more deadly than even one of the eleven rookies the WG fears.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Sanjuan Wolf does not seem to have much of a grasp on reality.
  • Sinister Scythe: Doc Q's weapon, usually carried in a bag. It has two blades to boot.
  • Sissy Villain: Lafitte. Heck, he's even wearing make up!
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Thankfully, chapter 595 gives their names with the right spelling.
  • The Starscream: Avalo Pizarro has shades of this, but he may be kidding.
    • Shiliew does not seem to have that much loyalty, and he has betrayed others before.
  • Villainous Valor: Averted, at least Shiliew to split up if Blackbeard's plans regarding the Gura Gura Fruit would have failed.
  • Wicked Cultured: Van Augur.

Five Elder Stars

A council of five old men who sit at the very top of the World Government. They generally appear whenever there is a huge change in the world order, such as Luffy's defeat over Crocodile or the death of Whitebeard, discussing on what to do about it. Their main concern is keeping the peace in the world, but this leads them to making some...tough...calls as the series goes on.

Eneru's Priests

The Army of the Ruler of Skypiea, God Eneru. The main mooks are soldiers wearing goat-like features and armed with the deadly Axe Dials. The Leader of the army is the gargantuan Yama. The four high priests (or vassals in the edited dubs) are Gedatsu the "Sky Boss", Satori the "Lost Forest Priest", Shura "Skyrider" and Ohm "Skybreeder".

Shandia Warriors

The elite fighters of the Shandia tribe, they're at war against Eneru's priests in order to take their land back from the Skypiean. Their leader is the hot-headed Wyper "The Berserker", and other notable members are Kamakiri, Genbou, Braham and Laki.

Cipher Pol #9 Saga

Foxy Pirates

The huge pirate crew serving Foxy, many of its members were former pirates who lost at the Davy Back Fight game. The relevant members are Porche, Hamburg, Pickles, Capote, Monda and Big Pan. The anime adds other members.

Franky Family

A bunch of thugs from Water Seven led by Franky. They work as bounty hunters in order to keep pirates at bay and also dismantle ships. They first appear as enemies, where they steal the crew's money and lynch Usop, but are soundly beaten to a pulp by the Strawhats. They later help the crew to rescue Franky and Robin in Enies Lobby. The most notable members include Zanbei and the Square Sisters. They also have two huge King Bulls called Sodom and Gomorrah at their service.

Galley-La

The famous company of shipwrights from Water Seven, is composed by extremely Badass fellows, who can easly beat the crap out of any pirate crew looking for troubles. They're all very loyal to their leader and mayor, Iceburg. Notable members include Paulie, Lulu and Tilestone.

Enies Lobby's Garrison

The hordes of Marines guarding the island of Enies Lobby. Other than ten thousand mooks, there are the giants Oimo and Kashi, the Watchdog Unit of the Law, the Just Eleven Juryman and the three-headed judge Baskerville.

CP 9

The Ninth Justice, the legendary and secret Cipher Pol number nine, it's a group of secret agents with superhuman skills and great powers and they all know the Rokushiki. They resides in Enies Lobby. The actual president is Spandam. They were charged with the task of finding the Pluton's Blueprints and capture Nico Robin. Their actual members are: Spandam (Doriki: 09), Rob Lucci (Doriki 4000), Kaku (Doriki 2200), Jabra (Doriki 2180), Blueno (Doriki 820), Kumadori (Doriki 810), Fukuro (Doriki 800) and Kalifa (Doriki 630). The rookie member, Nero, was slain shortly after his appearence by Lucci after he was defeated by Franky.

  • Animation Bump: Happens with Lucci vs. Luffy fight, and earlier in episode 268, Spandam goes from Gonk to disturbingly less human than normal, in order to emphasis on how much of a disgusting waste of life he is.
  • Acrofatic: Fukuro.
  • Affably Evil: CP9, ignoring Spandam. Some CP9 have genuine quirky traits, especially Fukuro, Kumadori, Kalifa, Jabra (has his moments) and the honest Kaku; that they might for a good guy group, too bad they're all bloodthirsty assassins.
    • Even when they were revealed to be assassins, and after they were defeated, they seemed to be pretty decent people, with a very genuine and honest sense of justice. It's just too bad that one of them takes his too far...
  • Animal Motif: Leopard for Lucci, Giraffe for Kaku, Wolf for Jabra, Bull for Blueno, Panda for Spandam, Sheep for Kalifa, Owl for Fukuro and Lion for Kumadori (Though there is a minor Running Gag that it is a Octopus) and Weasel for Nero.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Subverted by Spandam. Played straight with Lucci, especially after the government left them to die, while Spandam escaped.
  • Arrogant Kung Fu Guy: All of them really, to a degree. Though, Lucci, Jabra and Fukurou were pretty notable ones.
  • Badass: All except Spandam, even Nero was impressive.
    • Badass Bookworm: Kalifa. Even if you are working undercover, you've got to be pretty smart to be Iceburg's trusted secretary for five years.
    • Badass Normal: Fukuro and Kumadori, they're the only members that don't have Devil Fruit powers. That's about the only thing about them that is normal, though. Spandam had to be in order to be their leader....mostly.
      • Kaku and Kalifa prior their eating of Devil Fruits.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: All except Nero who wasn't considered a member wear business suits, making them a more professional assassination group than Baroque Works.
  • The Baroness: Kalifa.
  • Big Badass Wolf: Jabra when using his powers from the Dog Dog Fruit, Model: Wolf.
  • Blondes Are Evil: Kalifa.
  • Blood Knight: Rob Lucci describes it eloquently with his quote: "Blood, but you see" transforms into his Leopard-Man form "By being here, we get the legitimate rights to kill".
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyers: They sure are quirky for a bunch of bloodthirsty government assassins.
    • Jabra is is probably the best example of this though, despite his weird superstitions and obvious lies, he's the most professional member of the group because he grasps the simple concept that assassins are supposed to kill people as fast and effectively as possible. Lucci is too blood-thirsty, Kaku is too nice, Kalifa is too vain, Blueno is too proud/emotional, Fukuro is too gossipy and Kumadori is too hammy.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Rokushiki are 6 actually 7 of these.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Even putting aside from the random declarations of "sexual harassment", Kalifa is a bit of a space-case. Kumadori and Fukurou are far worse.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Jabra can be really a bastard in combat and is proud of using sneak attacks. Nero too uses pistols instead of the Shigan attack.
    • Well, that's because he can't use Shigan and uses real pistols to compensate.
  • Curb Stomp Battle: Ladies and Gentlemen, Blueno vs Luffy round two. Also Monster Chopper vs Kumadori.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Kalifa, possibly. Otherwise, in the bowling game she wasn't content with getting a strike, but launching the ball through the wall.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Kalifa. Or at least Nami thinks so.
  • Fat Bastard: Fukuro.
  • Five-Bad Band
  • Fragile Speedster: Nero. Likely because he hasn't mastered Tekkai.
  • Generation Xerox: Kalifa's dad apparently was a CP9 member.
  • Genius Bruiser: Lucci and Blueno are notably perceptive. Kaku as well. Not to mention he is a genuinely good shipwright.
  • Gonk: Fukuro and Kumadori.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Fukuro uses a variant of Shigan called Jugon (Stern Beast), which is basically a bullet-speed punch.
    • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Fukuro's Owl Strike (Fukuro Dataki) which is a flurry of punches while running around his opponent. In the anime, its depicted as a Doppelganger Spin, probably by using Soru.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Blueno's Door-Door Fruit (Doa Doa no Mi) powers and Kalifa's Bubble-Bubble Fruit (Awa Awa no Mi) powers. They both seem useless, but they can do marvels in their hands. Blueno notably saved his and his teammates' lives from the Buster Call after they shafted by the World Government.
  • Heroic Sociopaths: They've seem to have changed from Psychos For Hire into this. All they need to need to do is curb their violence a tad bit, and they could be One Piece's answer to the Power Rangers.
  • Jerkass: Spandam.
  • Knight Templar: Although they're Blood Knights, maintaining peace at all costs comes first, became a little nicer after their defeat.
  • Large Ham. Kumadori speaks and acts like a Kabuki actor.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Soru can make them all this, especially Fukuro, Kumadori, Blueno, Lucci in Leopard-Man Mode, Kaku in Giraffe Mode and Jabra in Wolf Man form.
  • Master of Your Domain: Kumadori uses a special technique called Life Return (Seimei Kikan) that allows him to control his bodily functions. He mostly uses it on his hair, see below.
    • Lucci also uses this technique to make his leopard-man form smaller and more agile.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Kalifa
    • "That's sexual harassment."
  • Not So Harmless: When the first four revealed themselves, afterwards Fukuro and Kumadori are tough despite their looks.
  • Oh Crap: Kumadori as he witness the rise of Monster Chopper.
    • Lucci when he released that Luffy's capable of beating him.
    • Blueno when he realizes how much stronger Luffy's gotten since their last fight, an even bigger one when he becomes the unlucky lab rat for the Gear Second.
    • Kaku right before Zoro handed him his ass.
  • Playing with Fire: Kumadori can ignite his staff, probably using friction.
    • In he anime, Lucci flicks a fireball at Luffy. It was a variant of Shigan.
  • Power Level: Doriki (Exactly means "Power Level"). Average Marine soldiers have a Doriki of about 10, a Doriki above 500 is considered superhuman.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Fukuro.
  • Punny Name: Many of the techniques and attacks have a pun. Including Kumadori's Shishi Kebob attack and Lucci's Mitsubachi Shigan. (the kanji translates as "three plectri" but "mitsubachi" can also mean "bee".)
  • Prehensile Hair: Kumadori can use his Life Return ability in order to move his hair like tentacles "Like the Mane of a MAJESTIIIIIC.... LIOOON!!"
  • Quirky Miniboss Squad: To Spandam as the official leader, to Lucci the real one.
  • Seppuku: A Running gag of Kumadori.
  • Sexy Secretary: Kalifa was this to Iceburg before she was revealed to be part of CP9.
  • Spanner in the Works: Ironically, one of their own, Fukurou, keeps spoiling the missions because of his random blurting of their secret missions while their underway. It's mentioned in passing that his half of the team had to kill 23 people, instead of just the 3 people they were assigned to assassinate all because Fukurou couldn't keep his mouth shut.
  • Tagalong Kid: Nero, before being killed off by Lucci.
  • Tsundere: Kalifa is shown to be a Type A, though the "dere" side was still pretty cold, though it turns out it was an act.
  • Tyke Bomb: Raised to be assassins, Left to die when they lose to pirates.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: Kalifa kept the key to Zoro and Sogeking's shackles in her cleavage.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Their mini-arc mostly seems to be this, as most of the group tried to raise to raise enough money to pay for Lucci's medical bills, doing things like joining the circus, cleaning the streets, performing on stage etc. then after Lucci gets better, they play this trope very straight, with them having dinner together, shopping and playing bowling.
  • What Could Have Been: Originally, things were much more different: Kalifa was a black-haired creepy woman, Jabra was a swordsman called Jakeen, instead of Kumadori there was a Gorilla-themed brute named Apollo and Fukuro was actually well-muscled instead of being a fatso. Furthermore, the battle layout was different, and included Zoro vs Jakeen, Nami vs Fukuro and Usopp against Blueno amongst various things.
  • Whip It Good: Kalifa used to fight with a spiked whip, then she got the power...of soap!!
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Jabra invokes this, saying that all of the agents should go down there and gang up on him with their combined powers and kill the main character already, but of course Spandam makes it so it's a series of one-on-one matches.
  • Unknown Rival: Jabra views Lucci as his rival, too bad five years made his "rival" see Kaku on equal terms.

Whitebeard War Saga

Thriller Bark's Denizens

The large pirate crew that serves the Warlord of the Sea Moriah, is mainly composed by hordes of Zombies, created by Moriah's power and divided into four categories (Wild Zombies, Surprise Zombies, Soldier Zombie and General Zombie). Alive members include Absalom, chief of the General and Soldier Zombies, Perona the Ghost Princess in charge of the Wild and Surprise Zombie, Doctor Hogback and his bodyguard Cindry and the Elite General Zombie Ryuuma the Samurai with Brook's shadow. Their strongest zombie is the special model # 900, Oars the Devil.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Lola the Warthog Zombie towards Absalom, but is actually a nice person. Hogback was one towards Victoria Cindry.
  • An Axe to Grind: Several zombies, most notably Lola
  • Anticlimax Boss: Absalom is totally curb-stomped by Sanji.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Oars
  • Ass Kicks You: "Gomu Gomu no.... Butt Stomp!!"
  • Badass: Ryuuma. He once sliced a giant Dragon in half.
    • There's also Jigorou, another swordman, whose infamy comes from killing 3000 people to protect his family.
  • Beast Man: Many zombies. Also Absalom. See below.
  • BFG: Absalom use his powers to hide two Bazookas attached to his arms.
  • Biological Mashup: Many Wild and General Zombies. Absalom has the jaws of a lion, skin from an elephant and muscles of bears and gorilla.
  • Broken Pedestal: Doctor Hogback for Chopper.
  • Canon Immigrant: Samurai Ryuma was the main character of the short story Monsters. Word of God stated that he is the same Ryuma.
  • Cool Sword: Ryuuma's katana, Shuusui (Autumn Water).
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Perona, sort of.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Cindry can be really nasty with her comments directed at Hogback.
    • It's likely not really her personality when she was alive, but the shadow of the person that reanimated her.
  • Dr. Jerk: Hogback, much to Chopper's shock.
  • Dumb Muscle: Oars. He has Luffy's shadow after all...
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Perona the Ghost Princess.
  • Elite Mook: The General Zombies, an immortal army of powerful warriors, mercenaries, pirates, assassins, knights and snipers, immune to pain. They also have the good sense of carrying around water buckets in case they're attacked with fire.
  • Enemy Civil War: Between Inuppe and Jigoro, courtesy of the shadows of Sanji and Zoro inside them.
  • Extreme Doormat: Cindry whenever she's compelled to obey Hogback's orders.
  • Fat Bastard: Hogback.
  • Five-Bad Band:
  • Giant Spider: Talleran the General Zombie, a huge Spider Monkey. Which is a huge spider with the tail, hands and head of a monkey
  • Glass Cannon: Inuppe has the same strength as Sanji and can easly best the other zombies, but his body is too weak to sustain a blow.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Ryuma's slashes are so fast that the victims gets cut open only after three steps. He got this style from Brook's shadow.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Cindry uses a series of plates (which she totally hates) as throwing weapons.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Absalom is guilty of these. As Oda stated, even his sense of humor is invisible.
  • Invisibility: Absalom ate the Suke Suke fruit and thus can become invisible (along with everything he touches) at will.
  • Irony: The panels where Ryuuma is defeated by Zoro's Dragon Blaze attack are identical to the ones in Monster where he bisected the dragon.
  • Jerkass: Hogback and Absalom.
  • Karma Houdini: Hogback and Absalom are two of the more loathsome minor villains in the series, with Absalom being the closest thing to a rapist the series has gotten yet and Hogback... well, what hasn't he done? They both get away with nothing more than a few bruises (Hogback after being stepped on by Oars) and a cover even shows them laughing it up while sunbathing without a care in the world.
  • Kill It with Fire: Ryuuma kick the bucket when Zoro set him ablaze with the Hiryuu Kaen attack.
  • Kill It with Ice: How Oars met his doom 400 years ago. A literal case of Too Dumb to Live.
  • Killer Rabbit: Kumacy, the huge stuffed bear zombie serving Perona.
  • Lean and Mean: Ryuuma.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Oars. Yes, being a giant Zombie doesn't affect his reflexes.
    • Mostly because he has Luffy's shadow within him. When we see his normal grandson at Marineford, he's a true-blue Mighty Glacier.
  • Mad Scientist: Hogback.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Many Wild Zombies amd some General Zombie. Most notably Talleran the Spider Monkey and his underlings, the Spider Mice.
  • Mundane Utility: Absalom uses his invisibility powers mainly for peeking the girls in the bathroom.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Perona.
  • Non-Action Guy: Dr. Hogback usually has to rely on Ryuuma for protection, and later on Jigorou & Inuppen, Zoro & Sanji's zombies.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Jigoro's nickname, aka Jigoro "of the Wind".
  • Papa Wolf: In life Jigoro sliced 3000 pirates and more just to protect his family.
  • Parasol of Prettiness: Perona has one.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Oars was also translated as Ozu, Odz, Ors or Odr.
  • Razor Wind/Sword Beam: Ryuma can send several purple air-slashes with his blade.
  • Tragic Monster: Cindry, when she temporarily gets her memories back, only to still remain as a zombie slave to Hogback.
  • Verbal Tic: Each one of them:

Hogback: "Fos Fos Fos Fos Fos!"

Perona: "Horohorohoro!"

Ryuuma: "Yohohohohoho"

  • Weaksauce Weakness: Salt. If a Zombie swallows salt the shadow is removed and goes back to the rightful owner.
  • Zombie Apocalypse
  • Zombie Gait: Parodied by the Soldier Zombie, who at first move like this.... then suddenly sprint forward at full speed. Only to stop after a few seconds to catch their breath.

Golden Lion Pirates

The huge armada serving the dreaded pirate Gold Lion Shiki, is composed by a large number of pirate crews (most of them unspecified) and a horde of mutated beasts created by Indigo's experiments and residing on Merveille. One of the animals, a bird named Billy, defected and made friends with the Straw Hats. The more notable members are Scarlet, Dr Indigo and the Amigo Pirates, lead by the brothers Largo and Corto.

Flying Fish Riders/ Rosy Life Riders and the Macro Fishman Pirates

A Gang of kidnappers from the Sabaody Archipelago. The members are dressed like bikers and rides huge Tobio (Flying Fish). Their boss, Duval, is a huge masked man who holds a grudge against Sanji, because he looks exactly like his badly drawn wanted poster. They're briefly allied with a trio of fishmen kidnappers, the Macro Fishman Pirates (composed by Macro, Tansui and Gyaro). After their defeat and after Sanji's operation on Duval's face they join sides with the Straw Hats.

  • Badass Biker: They are about the closest thing to a gang of bikers, but they are not very Badass.
  • Berserk Button: Prior to their Heel Face Turn, just mentioning Sanji was enough for Duval to get really pissed.
  • Black Sheep: Macro was among the big brothers (dubbed the cruelest) of the Fishman District, which included Fisher Tiger, Jinbe and Arlong. You know you are a Black Sheep when Arlong is better than you morally.
  • Brutal Honesty: Tansui and Gyaro often remarks that Duval is a oaf and similar stuff. Macro usually call them out on this.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Many of them uses large iron clubs as weapons.
  • Defeat Means Friendship
  • Dumb Muscle: Tansui and Gyaro. The latter would have let Hachi go in exchange for some takoyaki.
  • Easily Forgiven: Even that they are involved in the morally bankrupt slave trade, once they back out, Duval and Co are treated as normal allies.
  • Gonk: Duval.
  • Guns Akimbo: Macro's main weapons during his days as a Sunny Pirate.
  • Heel Face Turn
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Both groups. Macro's gang isn't sympathetic at all, though.
  • Informed Ability: Macro, Tansui and Gyaro all brag about their skills (strength, fishmen karate and fencing style) before being one-shotted by Hacchan's Takoyaki Punch attack.
  • Jerkass: Macro isn't quite a Complete Monster (Mostly because he's so minor in the grand scheme of things), but the fact that he used to a Fishman Pirate and is involved in the slave trade before and after joining the Sunny Pirates, something his former captain Fisher Tiger hated, is quite low.
  • A Load of Bull: Duval's mount, a huge bison.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: Duval, until the (hilarious) reveal.
  • Making a Splash: Tansui is apparently a Fishman Karateka. Probably not a good one, though.
  • Master Swordsman: Subverted with a ton of bricks. Gyaro thinks he is with his Goldfish Fencing style, but isn't even close to being in Hatchi's league.
  • Poisoned Weapons: Duval's gun shot a volley of poisonous harpoons.
  • Terrible Trio: The Macro Fishman Pirates, which doubles as a Oddly Small Organization.
  • Tohoku Regional Accent: When angry, Duval starts speaking with one. Constantly remarked by his henchmen.

World Nobles

Also known as "Tenryuubito" (Celestial Dragons), are the residents of the Holy Land of Mariejois and descendents of the 20 Kings who formed the World Governement long ago. They're shown as a group of arrogant aristocratics, abusing their authority and keeping slaves with them. Despite being really weak, no one dares to hit a Noble, as they can summon an admiral to their help. So far all the World Nobles shown have bulbous-like hairstyle, wear bubble helmets in order to not breath the same air as the "lesser people" and their title is "Saint" (or in case of women "Princess"). The main Nobles shown so far are Saint Roswald, Princess Shalulia, Saint Charlos, Saint Jalmack and Saint Miosgard.

  • Adult Child: Charloss. Miosgard, as well.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: Hell yeah.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Averted, they're total losers, but they can summon a far more powerful Admiral to kick your ass.
  • Beard of Evil: Saint Roswald.
  • BFG: Saint Jalmack uses a large bazooka to sink Sabo's ship.
  • Dirty Coward: They're armed mainly with fire arms and are anything but brave.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Crossing their path even unknowingly results in getting a bullet to the gut. Or in poor Sabo's cause, being blown up by a cannon.
  • Fat Bastard: Saint Charlos and also Saint Miosgard.
  • Gonk: Charlos, Miosgard and Miosgard's father. Saint Roswald and Saint Jalmack are more normal-looking, while Princess Shalulia is more like Evil Is Sexy.
  • Jerkass
  • Karma Houdini: This is what they believe themselves to be. However Luffy gave Charloss such a wake up call after he shot Hatchi. Saint Jalmack did get away with blasting a pirate ship with Sabo inside of it because his ship crossed his path but he claims it's because Sabo raised a pirate flag.
  • Kick the Dog: They do this often to their slave. Shalulia tried to shoot Keimi just to take away the Straw Hats prize, luckily Rayleigh came along and stopped her.
  • Kick the Son of a Bitch: Saint Charlos gets slammed by a berserk Luffy, Saint Roswald has Usopp falling on his head and Miosgard is almost killed by his former slaves on Fishman Island.
  • Knight Templar: Saint Jalmack, who shot Sabo mainly because he had risen a Pirate flag.
    • Which was a secondary reason, his first is because his boat crossed his path.
  • Mark of Shame: Their crest is the Soaring Dragon Hoof, which is branded on the slaves. That means that, as slave, you're worth less than trash to them. A large number of fishmen and the Boa sisters has it.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Saint Miosgard thought of going to Fishman Island alone and recover all his escaped fishmen.
    • Hell, they're all like this just because they figure they can do anything and get away with it.
      • Unfortunately, most of the time, they actually can get away with it, because they're so above the law, and basically untouchable.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Saint Miosgard. Otohime took a literal bullet to save him from a furious crowd and he tried to kill her. Later, when he was healed and dismissed he kept insulting them and swore revenge.
  • Upper Class Twit: Did I mention that they wear glass helmets in order to avoid to breath the air of the citizens?

Kuja Pirates

Hancock's pirate crew, is composed by the strongest and thoughtest Kuja warriors from Amazon Lily. Their power is known and feared among the people and they can all use Haki. The more noticeable members are Hancock's sisters Sandersonia and Marigold. Outside the pirate crew there are still strong warriors, including Margaret, Kikyou, Aphelandra and Sweetpea.

Impel Down's Staff

The guards and jailers of the great Underwater Gaol under the service of Hannyabal. Among its denizens, we have Domino (Head Jailer), Sadi-chan (Chief Guard), the five Demon Guards (all "Awakened" Zoan fruit users), Saldeath (Chief Guard) and several monsters and creatures, including the Blugori, the Basilisk, Manticores and the Sphinx.

Newkama Landers

The followers of Emporio Ivankov, they were once prisoners of the Great Gaol of Impel Down that were "spirited away", while actually they were just fred by Ivankov or had found a way to reach him. They resides in the hidden level 5.5, built by a prisoner with tunneling Devil Fruit powers where they costantly party and keep an eye on the situation in the prison. After Luffy's outburst, they evade with their leader. After the Marineford saga, they finally reach Kamabakka Kingdom, where they joined the local Okama subjects. One of the most notable members is Inazuma, a rebel from South Blue and Ivankov's right hand man/woman. The anime also introduces Caroline, the Substitute Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom.

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Inazuma's scissors. Justified, since everything that it's cut by those blade can be manipulated like paper.
  • Attractive Bent Gender: Apparently, when a male Newkama is turned in a female he istantly becomes a hottie. Also Inazuma.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Inazuma and Caroline are without doubts really strong.
  • Badass Crew: Yes, they are after all...
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Think a bunch of gender-switching, easy-going, partying guys is harmless? Think again. The same goes for the inhabitants of Momoiro.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Inazuma ate the Snip-Snip Fruit (Choki Choki no Mi) and can turn his hands and fingers in large scissor blades.
  • Chef of Iron: All the high-level masters of Okama and Newkama Kenpo can use the "Attack Cuisine", which can strengthen the human body from inside. Sanji is the only person who managed to master it without becoming an Okama.
  • Covert Pervert: One of Caroline's tactics in order to embarass Sanji was to peek at his bloomers whenever he tried a high kick.
  • Cultured Badass: Inazuma. The only person capable of kicking away fierce warg-like wolves while holding his glass of wine.
  • Dance Battler: Some of Caroline's attacks are similar to a sort of Waltzer. With Sanji as the dancing partner!
  • Distaff Counterpart: The Newkama are a sort of counterpart to the Kuja Pirates.
  • Drag Queen: Caroline. Bonus points for actually being also the "Substitute Queen".
  • Fan Disservice: While at least the Newkama in Impel Down can be quite pleasant, the crossdressers of Kamabakka are straight awful.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Inazuma.
  • Gender Bender: Basically any single member may have or not change sex at least once, courtesy of Ivankov's Horm-Horm powers.
  • Gonk: Many of the male Newkama are plain ugly. Ditto for "Caroline" and all the other Okama.
  • Humiliation Conga: One of the members: he was once a prince whose father was turned into a Okama after visiting Ivankoff's Kingdom, then he lost everything, became a pirate and was imprisoned. To cup it all, when he tried to take revenge on Iva he had his own bullet reflected back at him and then was turned into a woman.
  • Hypno Fool: Caroline's secret attack, the "Awakening of the Maiden". It managed to turn (briefly) Sanji in one of the Okama.
  • Karmic Transformation: See above.
  • Kuudere: Inazuma's male personality is quite cold and reserved, while when he's a woman he she's far more warm and kind.
  • Large and In Charge: Caroline is quite big.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: And dresses, skirts and bloomers too. Momoiro literally means "Pink".
  • Refuge in Audacity: Everything.
  • Seashell Bra: One of the male Newkama sports one.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Justified as the poor sop was just turned into a naked chick in front of a whole room of people. Also the Okama tends to have "girlish-sounding" voices.
  • Stocking Filler: All the Newkama wear these.
  • Sunglasses at Night: Inazuma. Though they look more like 3D glasses.
  • Training from Hell: The "Bride Training" required for the Attack Cuisine. Sanji managed to skip it in exchange for another, harder training.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Averted by the Impel Down denizens. The people of Kamabakka may look more like Creepy Crossdresser type, but they're actually really good naturated.
  • Zerg Rush: While evading from Impel Down.

The (other members of the) Whitebeard Pirates

Other members of the Whitebeard Pirates, the following characters listed are the less-important Division Commanders like Thatch (4th), Blamenco (6th), Rakuyou (7th), Namur (8th), Blenheim (9th), Curiel (10th), Kingdew (11th), Haruta (12th), Atmos (13th), Speed Jiru (14th), Fossa (15th) & Izou (16th)

For the Captain himself, Marco, Ace, Jozu & Vista, see the link above. For "Maelstrom Spider" Squardo, a prominent ally, please see Others.

After the Time Skip, the Blackbeard Pirates have succeded them among the Four Emperors, but the exact fate of the crew was not elaborated on.

Marine HQ Viceadmirals

The group is formed by the strongest warriors of the Marine army, capable of standing toe to toe against powerful pirates and New World captains with ease. Some of them follows moral Justice, but some of them are for the absolute Justice. Two members of the Giant Squad members are Vice Admirals. They are all confirmed to be Haki users.

The more noticeable ones are Momonga, Onigumo, Dobermann, Yamakaji, Strawberry, Lacroix, John Giant and Ronse.

Bluejam Pirates

A pirate band from Luffy's flashback, they were a pirate crew living nearby the Grey Terminal just outside Goa kingdom's capital. They take Sabo back to his father and also forcefully hire Luffy and Ace. They're ordered by the King of Goa to burn down the Grey Terminal in exchange for a nobiliar title, but he had other plans. They're captain is Bluejam, and the other notable member is his right-hand man Porchemy.

  • Ambition Is Evil: Bluejam wishes to become a noble somehow. The King take advantage of his ambition to use him for his plans.
  • Bad Boss: Bluejam doesn't care too much for his subordinates and even headshots Porchemy for losing to Ace and Sabo.
  • Badass Normal: Bluejam has no Devil's Fruit, fights with a saber and musket, but has a strong enough will not to have fainted when hit by a wave of Ace's Supreme King Haki.
  • Battle Amongst the Flames: Bluejam versus Dadan and Ace in the burning Gray Terminal.
  • The Dragon: Porchemy to Bluejam.
  • Drop the Hammer: Porchemy tries to make Luffy talk by smashing him with a massive wooden maul. It's ineffective.
  • Gonk: Bluejam and Porchemy. The former also sports a sinister-looking smile, thanks to his peculiar teeth.
  • Kill It with Fire: They're ordered to put several barrels of oil and gunpowder around the Grey Terminal in order to burn it all down, along with his inhabitants. It backfires when the king leave them outside to die in the inferno.
  • Sinister Scimitar: Porchemy's sword, which he use to scalp his enemies alive!
  • Sword and Gun: Bluejam when fighting back Dadan and Ace.
  • Taking You with Me: After being betrayed by the king, the crew realize they're die so upon running into Ace and Luffy, they figure they might as kill them before they perish. Even Ace noticed that they've lost their minds at that point.
  • Tempting Fate: Before facing Ace and Sabo, Porchemy boasts that if he lose he'll give up piracy. Guess who's lying on the floor with a hole in the forehead in the next page?
  • Villainous Breakdown: Bluejam, as he realize that the King has double-crossed them and left his crew to die in the fire he commisioned.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Porchemy interrogates Luffy by using him as a punching ball. While wearing spiked gloves to boot. For a whole day!.
  • You Have Failed Me...: Bluejam kills Porchemy after his humiliating defeat at the hands of Ace and Sabo.

New World Saga

Fake Straw Hat Pirates

A relatively new (Well, to being impersonators, that is) crew led by "Three Tongued" Demalo Black, this small and very weak crew took advantage of the disappearance of the Straw Hat Pirates and impersonated them (Minus Brook, who was not known as a member until recently) and used their reputation to recruit 100+ members, including 10 people with bounties over 70,000 and three whole crews, the captains of which are "Gashed" Albion, "Lip Service"Doughty & the new-age Supernova brothers "Wet Hair" Caribou" & "Blood Splatterer" Coriboo.

The crew is now effectively dismantled. Black was captured by Sentomaru, the fake Robin (Cocoa) & the fake Chopper were kidnapped by mysterious agents, the fake Zoro, Nami, Sogeking, Sanji & Franky were buried alive by the brothers, Albion & Doughty also were either captured by Sentomaru or judging from a large pile of bodies, killed & the brothers defected and escaped

  • Asshole Victim: None of them were particularly pleasant, but being buried alive is a terrible death.
  • Boss in Mooks Clothing: Switched around, they are actually Mooks in Boss' Clothing.
  • Buried Alive: The final fate of the fakes Zoro, Nami, Sogeking, Sanji & Franky.
  • Butt Monkey: All of them.
  • Criminal Doppelganger
    • Extends to a Casting Gag in the anime, with the Straw Hats' seiyuu being mixed around and providing voices for the Fakes. For example Hiroaki Hirata (Sanji) is voicing Demalo Black.
  • Dirty Coward: A lot of them.
    • Cowardly Lion: The fake Sogeking has some shred of bravery though, as tried to save the fake Sanji from being suffocated by Caribou.
  • Dumb Muscle: Fake Sogeking, probably more of the recruits we didn't see.
  • Entitled Bastard: Black seems to think Luffy's rep can make him get away with everything.
  • Fat Bastard: The fake Luffy, Zoro & Sogeking & Doughty.
  • Five-Bad Band (The weakest one yet!)
  • Flat Character: Albion & Doughty don't have much screen time or lines.
  • Flunky Boss: Black/Fake Luffy was aiming to be one, but did not succeed. In some ways, he was a weaker & unlucky Buggy.
  • Gag Lips: Lip Doughty.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: "Lip Service Doughty". Also that infamous scene where fake Robin offers Chopper a cucumber.
  • Gonk: Every single freakin' member.
  • Kick the Dog: Black is a utter prick, shooting people when he wants with no regret. Caribou & Coriboo may be even worse.
  • Knife Nut: Albion is seen wielding three daggers and a large knife.
  • Meaningful Name: "Three Tongued" is a old British term for someone who lies to multiple people at once.
  • Mugging the Monster: You would think the impostors would know the people they copy look like.
  • Oh Crap: Several....
  • Red Shirt: Many of them, expecially Lip Doughty and Albion.
  • The Starscream: Caribou & Coriboo only joined so they could kill the Straw Hates on the inside for fame.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Sure, impersonate one of the most infamous pirate crews around gunned for by the world nobles and connected to the leader of the revolutionary army without even a fraction of the strength to back it up. That'll end well.

New Fishmen Pirates

Another group of Fishman pirates hailing from Fishman Island. They appear to be connected to the Sunny Pirates averted: this is a completely new crew and the only connection is that they knew Arlong back in the day, they use a modified version of their Jolly Roger. They are lead by Hordy Jones, the Great White Shark Fishman. Other known members are his four Lieutenants, Ikaros Much (Giant Squid), Dosun (Hammerhead Shark), Daruma (Cookiecutter Shark) & Zeo (Japanese Wobblegong Shark), Hammond (Daggertooth Pike Conger Eel), a low-class fighter & Hyozou (Blue Ring Octopus), a Merman assassin. They also employ several huge sea monsters, most notably the huge Kraken Surume, and forcibly employ some human pirates like "Crab Hand" Gyro into their ranks. They also use "E.S.", a powerful drug to greatly enhance their strength, but it shaves off their lives.

They share Arlong's intense hatred for humans, because of the death of their former leader, Fisher Tiger. Since they have just been recently introduced, we do not know all that much about them and is a constant work-in-progress as the Fishman Island Arc continues.

  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: A very intense hatred for humans largely due to the negative influence of the environment they were living in. Arlong as well as countless human hating fishmen filled their heads with anti-human propogada, making them believe that it was their duty to deliver punishment to humans and human supporters. To really drive the point home, a part of their flashback reveals them burning down a house of a fishman who had donated blood to save a human while wearing black masks.
  • Ascended Fanboy: The crew used to look up to Arlong and Fisher Tiger.
  • Badass: Hyozou.
  • Bad Boss: Unlike Arlong, the leaders of the New Fishmen Pirates have no qualms about harming their own men.
  • Beard of Evil: Ikaros Much has one.
  • The Beast Master: The Crew seems to employ several massive sea monsters, even Surume the Kraken.
  • Berserk Button: They hate it when fishmen have a positve opinion on humans. Especially Hody.
    • Ikaros hates even the reference fried squid, because his friend Daidaros, a giant squid, burned to death in the sun. He also has pyrophobia because of it.
  • Blade on a Stick: Ikaros wields eight of them, but are actually...
  • Breath Weapon: Logically, Ikaros can spit ink at will.
  • The Bus Came Back: Hammond finally reappeared in chapter 642, riding the Slave Tank.
  • Chain Pain / Epic Flail: Zeo has been seen armed with a weighted chain recently.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Way back in Chapter 84, Hatchi mentioned someone better then him as a swordsman at Fishman Island. 400+ chapters later, we learn that swordsman is Hyozou, and there is quite a difference of strength.
  • Cloudcuckoolander/Nightmare Retardant: Ohh boy, where to start... Dosun's Verbal Tic changes depending on his strength, Zeo is trampled by his own underlings and yet dismiss the accident as if it didn't happened, Ikaros Much is scared shitless of fires (a friend of his came to close to the sun and burned.) and on the top of his spears has moist-draining squids. Last but not least, When Hyozo is drunk he slices anyone in his way.
  • The Comically Serious: Zeo.
  • Completely Missing the Point: Chapter 622 reveals that the crew was originally just a bunch of impressionable youths who were friends with each other, cheering when they heard of Fisher Tiger's exploits in Marejoia. They believed he did it to show the Fishmen's retribution to how they are treated by humans. While that's partly true, they also didn't get that Tiger actually freed the human slaves since he felt he couldn't just leave them in captivity, and was fighting oppression in general, not just the humans. Still, they then swore to dedicate themselves to violence towards humans wherever they find them when they grow up. Jones, in particular wanted to be Arlong's First Mate, even though Tiger often reprimanded Arlong for his brutality towards humans.
  • Curb Stomp Battle: None of the officers really manage to land a hit on the Straw Hats save for some minor inconveniences and, at best, are just able to keep up with them. Once the SH stopped playing around however and broke out the finishers. It was pretty much over in an instant.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Surume, who was beaten and tamed by Luffy.
  • Defiant to the End: Even after Hody's defeat they weren't willing to give up. Even after aging rapidly they still won't give up.
  • Drop the Hammer: Dosun seems to carry a Hammer around. Quite fitting for him.
  • Drunken Master: Hyozou. However when he get too much drunk he attacks anyone.
  • Dual-Wielding: Ikaros can wield eight spears due to him being a Giant Squid.
    • Hyozou can also wield a couple other swords with his tentacle-legs, too.
    • As for Chapter 642, Zeo is seen flailing two chains at once against Brook.
  • Dub Name Change: Dosun was renamed Sbam in the Italian translation, in order to keep his Punny Name.
  • Dumb Muscle: Even though we just met him, Dosun does not seem to be particularly bright.
  • Everything's Even Worse with Sharks: Four of them, to be precise:
    • Hody Jones the Great White.
    • Dosun, the Hammerhead.
    • Zeo, the Japanese Wobblegong/ Carpet Shark. (Although he looks more like Zoidberg).
    • Daruma the Cookiecutter.
  • Elite Mooks: The one-shot character Harisenbo, porcupinefish and leader of the Sea-Urchin Armor Spine Squad.
  • Everything's Squishier with Cephalopods: The remaining member Ikaros is a Giant Squid fishman. And is a huge, nasty-looking fellow with eight spears.
    • And Hyozou himself is a Octopus Merman.
    • Not to mention the gigantic Kraken Surume.
  • Evil Old Folks: What chomping down on E.S. like it was candy did to them.
  • Fan Nickname: Some fans like to call Zeo "Evil Zoidberg", due to the fact that he kinda looks like him.
  • Fantastic Drug: They seem to use E.S. (Energy Steroid) to boost their strength big-time.
  • Fantastic Racism: They hate humans even more than Arlong, although they do employ a few. They tried to bring Luffy in, and they had at least Gyro as a unwilling member. Their Jolly Roger even has a decapitated human on it. A flashback went into detail about this, showing that the crew having grown up in the Fishman District, learned to hate humans from the residents there.
  • Five-Bad Band:
  • Gonk: Dosun & Hyozou.
  • Inescapable Net: Hammond's weapon of choice is a net-shooting cannon. Not so inescapable to Robin, though.
  • I Meant to Do That: Zeo does this a lot, such as when Brook stepped on his head he said "I'm headbutting your foot".
    • Almost falls into I Reject Your Reality. Zeo is incapable of accepting that bad things happen to him, or that what he wants and what happen vary; he gets trampled by his henchmen and acts like nothing happened. Makes a Badass Boast to the Straw Hats only to be ignored, so he claims he was talking quietly.
  • Invisibility: Not to the level Absalom has, but Zeo has natural camouflage abilities, like a Chameleon.
  • Irrational Hatred / Feeling Oppressed by Their Existence:

Fukaboshi: What the hell did those humans do to you!!?
Jones: ........Nothing.

  • Jerkass Knight Templar: While being as much of a monster as Arlong, they do genuinely seem to believe in a cause of hope for Fishmen than Arlong's passing rhetoric where money comes first over helping other Fishmen, but they are still massive assholes with little regard for humanity, their own kind when they thinks they betrayed them, or even their own crewmates.
  • Killer Rabbit: Daruma, is probably as vicious and fierce as his animal counterpart (the Cookiecutter Shark, which is very small but also very aggressive).
  • Locked Into Strangeness: Like Hody, Hyozou's abuse of E.S. has caused his hair to turn completely white, as well as buffing him up signficantly.
  • Man On Fire: Daruma when using his "Fire Cookie Cutter" attack.
  • Me's a Crowd: Ikaros can make clones out of ink.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Ikaros Much, a Giant Squid Fishman. Hyouzou, on the other hand, is multi-legged and even more dangerous.
  • The Napoleon: Daruma is very small compared to everybody else, probably not much bigger the Brain point Chopper, and is very aggressive.
    • Somewhat averted - he is actually almost as big as an average fishman or human, going by chapter 629. It's just that the other officers are freakin' huge.
  • Nice Hat: Daruma & Much's helmets.
  • No Mouth: Zeo. At least no visible mouth
  • No Name Given: To the fishman to the right of Hammond during their introduction in the manga. he was named "Kasagon" in the anime.
  • Not So Harmless: When Hyouzou was first introduced, he had no intro box or dialogue, as both were given to the more aggressive Hammond. After their tussle with Luffy, Hyozou blocked a Gear 2nd strike without being harmed, poisoned Luffy and was able to carry of Hammond and the un-named Lionfish member without any problems at all.
  • Now That's Using Your Teeth: Daruma can destroy rock and concrete, and his snacks are composed of giant fish's bones.
  • Oh Crap: Hyozou, after noticing that Zoro has just bisected all his swords in half just by parrying.
  • One-Handed Zweihander: Ikaros' spears are quite huge, but he wields and use them with one hand.
  • Only in It For the Money: Hyozou doesn't really seem to care about Jones' dream, and follows him only for money. If Arlong paid better, he admitted he would have gone with him to East Blue.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Hyozou is an octopus merman, and the only villainous Merperson seen yet.
  • Poisoned Weapons: The Deadly Poison Squad is composed by fishmen armed with extremely venomous weapons.
    • Hyouzou is able to coat his swords in his blue ring octopus venom.
  • Poisonous Person: Hyozou is a blue ring octopus merman, which is an extremely venomous animal. If Luffy didn't get his Acquired Poison Immunity from Magellan, he would have killed Luffy.
  • Power At a Price: Energy Steroid works a lot like Gear 2nd.
  • Punny Name: Hammond is a Daggertooth Pike Conger Eel, the Japanese name of which is "hamo".
    • So is his laugh style.
      • On a second look, many of them. Ikaros (Ika means Squid), Zeo is the anagram of Ooze, (the japanese for Carpet Shark) and Daruma comes from the Japanese name of the japanese name of the Cookiecutter shark, (Darumazame). "Dosun" is also the Japanese onomatopeia for a heavy thud, i.e. a hammer hitting something.
  • Quirky Miniboss Squad: Emphasis on "Quirky".
  • Rapid Aging : All of them go through this when the Energy Steroids take effect.
  • Redshirt Army: After capturing the royal family they whip out an army of 70.000 fishmen and 30.000 human pirates. In chapter 634 Luffy has just halved their numbers with a shot of Haki.
  • Slasher Smile: Well, most of them are sharks or eels, so it's kind of unavoidable. Except for Zeo, who has no visible mouth.
  • Slave Revolt: After seeing the Strawhats take down most of the Redshirt Army and the easily handling the Quirky Miniboss Squad and the arrival of the Neptune Army taking down the weaker Fishmen, the slaves realized this is an ideal time to revolt and escape.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: They talk big, and can somewhat back it up, but they're not much compared to a New World-ready pirate crew.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Hyozou has also been spelled as Hyouzou or Hyozo. More recently, Ikaros Muhhi/Much.
  • Spikes of Villainy In chapter 635 the Sea-Urchin Armor Spine Squad is composed by spiked fishmen wearing armors full of spikes.
  • Stout Strength: Dosun seems to be a bit doughy.
  • Stupid Evil: Their cause has no real substance as, unlike Arlong, they don't have any experience to hate humans over. They were just told as kids to hate humans and grew up on that philosophy. Thus all their actions are just purely out of ignorance.
  • Take Up My Sword: They seem to have embraced Tiger's negative politics and Arlong's.
  • Tattooed Crook: All of them have modified "Mark of the Sun" tattos (their version has a decapitated human crossed off) of the original Fishman Pirates on them, and some have Arlong's Jolly Roger, too.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Delivered by Hodi, Hyozou and Decken to Hatchan.
  • Tunnel King: Daruma, by using his teeth.
  • Verbal Tic: Ikaros and Dosun seem to inject their names into their sentences.
    • And Hammond's laugh of "Hamohamohamo!".
    • Chapter 630 revealed that Dosun's tics depend on his current power level.
  • Villain Team-Up: With the Flying Dutchman Pirates.
  • Visual Pun: Look closely at Ikaros' spears. The tips are "squid-shaped". Revealed in chapter 630 to be actual squids.
    • Daruma also resembles the Japanese dolls that share his name.
  • We Have Reserves: The crew's attitude towards their human slaves. Seen with their weapon "Slave Tank" (a tank-like structure carried around by a bunch of chained slaves).
  • The Worf Effect: Hyozou, hyped and acclaimed as the strongest and most dangerous swordsman on Fishman Island, has his sword cut in half by Zoro, and totally fails to impress him. Even after taking steroids, mind you.
    • It's justified since Zoro has spent two years training with the world's strongest swordsman.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: To Hachi.
  • Younger Than They Look: We saw young Hachi back in Chapter 0, which was 20 + years ago, and Jones mentions he's his senior, so he probably around 20-21ish, despite looking older than even Arlong.
    • Even so, in actuality, Hatchan and Jones are really roughly the same age, though Hatchan might be slightly older. Jones was 15 when Fisher Tiger raided Marejoia, so that would make him 30.
      • Taken Up to Eleven in chapter 650. The drugs the leaders have been using to fight have taken their toll, causing them to become withered old geezers.

The Neptune Army

The Royal army of Ryuuguu Kingdom, lead by Neptune's three sons. It was created recently to contrast the threat of the vicious Van Der Decken IX, who is harassing Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi and wants to marry her. The main members include King Neptune (a coelacanth merman), Queen Otohime, a Goldfish Mermaid who died 10 years ago Fukaboshi (The oldest and a shark merman, though what species is unspecified), Ryuuboshi (the middle brother and an oarfish merman), Manboshi (The third brother and a moonfish merman) and Shirahoshi (the youngest, the only daughter, and a sillago mermaid). Other notable members are the Minister of the Right (a seahorse merman) and the Minister of the Left (a catfish merman).

  • Armor-Piercing Slap: Parodied. In a flashback Queen Otohime puts so much force into slapping a mugger that she breaks her hand. And starts crying because she feels sorry for his desperation. And then she hits him again for breaking the law.
  • Badass: Fukaboshi. He was able to take on a drugged up Hody.
  • Badass Beard: Neptune has an impressive beard.
  • Badass Grandpa: Neptune looks like one.
    • In chapter 619, he copies Jinbe by grabbing the water and then throwing it in a Kamehameha fashion, utterly destroying the New Fishmen Pirates, though it does a real number on his back.
  • Berserk Button: Disrespect the late Queen Otohime, and Fukaboshi will grind your bones.
  • Big Fun: Mamboshi
  • Big Good: Of the Fishman Island Arc.
  • Blade on a Stick: The Minister of the Right wields a huge trident-shaped Halbeard.
  • Bunny Ears Lawyer: Ryuuboshi & Mamboshi are rather eccentric compared to their serious big brother.
  • Carpet of Virility: King Neptune.
  • The Comically Serious: Fukaboshi is really serious, no matter what happens. Also Neptune seems to be like this.
  • Cool Old Guy: The Minister of the Right, who looks like a warrior.
  • Cool Pet: Shirahoshi owns a pet shark named Megalo.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Ryuuboshi and Manboshi appear to be this. It's definitely shown when the two took out giant sea beasts alongside Fukaboshi.
  • Dual-Wielding: Ryuuboshi carrie two swords with him.
  • Everything's Even Worse with Sharks: Subverted, Fukaboshi is a Shark merman, but is quite calm and reasonable. He even looks a bit like Jinbe in the face.
  • Fragile Flower: Shirahoshi.
  • Gag Boobs: Shirahoshi is quite buxom, and Luffy even walks on her breasts before realizing she's here.
  • Gainaxing: According to Luffy, Shirahoshi's boobs feels like pudding at touch.
  • Gonk: The Three Princes and Neptune aren't exactly attractive. Princess Shirahoshi however is very beautiful, although absolutely gigantic!
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Their troops, the Ammo Knights. Ammo is a short-hand word for "Ammonite", i.e. fossilized snails, which their armor looks like.
    • Also, Neptune's Whale mount "Hoe" means Whale in Japanese.
  • Hikikomori: Shirahoshi
  • Large and In Charge: King Neptune.
  • Let's Get Dangerous: Fukaboshi took Jones' decision of forcing his subjects to commit Fumi-e (stepping on a image) on Otohime's image really badly.
    • Even more recently, Manboshi and Ryuuboshi decided to stop playing Mister Nice Guy.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Otohime was prone to fits of crying, like Shirahoshi is now.
  • Making a Splash: Neptune and Fukaboshi use a technique similar to Fishman Karate called Merman Combat.
    • Kamehame Hadoken: The "Ultramarine" attack, as used by Neptune and Fukaboshi. And it is awesome.
  • Meaningful Name: Fuka means shark or dogfish, fitting Fukaboshi's race. Also Ryuuboshi, Manboshi and Shirahoshi's names contain a pun on their fish race.
  • The Messiah:Otohime seems to be an exaggeration of this trope. She can even make a violent criminal forced into such a life to feed his family to change his ways by talking him...and slapping of course.
  • Missing Mom: Otohime.
  • Mister Seahorse: Unavoidable with the Minister of the Right, being a Seahorse merman and all...
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Queen Otohime's story, up to her assassination, is surprisingly similar to that of Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Non-Action Guy: The Minister of the Left.
  • No Mouth: Neptune, but it's covered by his beard.
  • Overprotective Dad: King Neptune keeps his gigantic daughter Shirahoshi locked up in a tower for ten years to keep her admirer's tokens of affection from reaching her. Quite justified, since her admirer is a criminal Stalker with a Crush, and the 'tokens' are engraved weapons which target her when thrown thanks to his Devil Fruit power. Quite a few of them can be seen embedded in and around the doors leading to her room.
  • Only Sane Man: Fukaboshi among his family.
  • Posthumous Character: Otohime.
  • Power Trio/Bash Brothers: The Three Princes.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Fukaboshi wields a large trident and Neptune wields and even bigger one. And all the members of the Ammo Knights, too.
  • Punny Name: Manboshi.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Fukaboshi & probably Neptune.
  • Rousing Speech: Otohime's specialty. Fukaboshi made one at his mother's funeral to keep the spirit of the subjects high.
  • Royal Rapier: Ryuuboshi's swords are revealed to be those.
  • Shout-Out: Neptune looks a bit like God from one of Oda's old one-shots "God's Gift To The Future". He also looks like King Triton from Disney's The Little Mermaid.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Shirahoshi takes this Up to Eleven and then some.
  • Stepford Smiler: Ryuuboshi and Mamboshi, whose "dancing and singing" routine comes from their last attempt to cheer up their little sister RIGHT AFTER seeing their mom shot and dying.
  • The Stoic: Fukaboshi.
  • Taking the Bullet: When Hodi is attacking his soldiers, Neptune throws himself in the way of Hodi's water arrows. Hodi calls him a fool for doing this.
  • The Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter: While Neptune is rather odd-looking, Shirahoshi is very beautiful (and HUGE!).
  • Verbal Tic: Ryuuboshi and Manboshi has these. Ryuuboshi speaks in scale, while Mamboshi talks.....well, like he's in a Mambo.
  • Warrior Prince: The three brothers.
  • The Worf Effect: Neptune is defeated and bound offscreen by Zoro. Justified since he states that he's quite old and that the princes are stronger than him.
    • Sadly, the princes themselves are subjected to this in chapter 632. Apparently all 5 officers of the New Fishmen Pirates drugged and at once were too much to handle.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Fukaboshi.

The Flying Dutchman Pirates

A band of Pirates that sail around the area near Fishman Island, their Captain is Vander Decken IX, a Japanese Bullhead Shark fishman. The main members thus far are Decken, Oonyuudou Wadatsumi, a Umibozu or "Sea Giant", but is actually just a Giant Tiger Blowfish fishman & Ankoro, a huge Anglerfish. They sail on the titular ship, a mysterious ship said to be cursed by the gods and forced to roam the depths of the ocean which is actually just a decrepit old ship that got Shrouded in Myth & inaccuracies. Vander Decken is wanted by the Neptune Army for his harassments toward the beautiful Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi. Recently he had allied himself with Hody Jones to take over Ryuugu Kingdom, but toward the end of the battle, Hody (seemingly) killed Decken.

Like the New Fishman Pirates & the Neptune Army, they have just been recently introduced, we do not know all that much about them and is a constant work-in-progress as the Fishman Island Arc continues.

The Sun Pirates

An all-fishman pirate crew formed by the slaves Fisher Tiger freed from Marijoa, as well as others from Fish-Man Island, like the Arlong Pirates and Macro Pirates. After Tiger died Jinbe assumed leadership. Currently allied with Big Mom.

  • Breaking the Fellowship: Jinbe becoming a Warlord didn't sit well with Arlong, so he and his original Arlong Pirates left, followed by the Macro Pirates.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Hachi and a nameless octopus fishman seen near Jinbei.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Wielded by Aladdin, the ship's doctor.
  • Tattooed Crook: So that no one could distinguish those who were and weren't slaves, each member had themselves branded with their crew emblem, which covered the slave mark on the slaves' bodies.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: On Tiger's orders, none of them were allowed to kill.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Arlong and his closest followers (Kuroobi and Choo) were this in the past. Macro and his pals were more like token jerkasses.
  • Token Human: Koala.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Jinbe tried to avert this by becoming a Warlord of the Sea. The pardon he recieved from the World Government would allow the ex-slaves to return to Fish-Man Island. After he resigned they had to leave, though.

The Big Mom Pirates

A very powerful pirate crew serving the great Charlotte Linlin of the Four Emperors. So far, only a handful of members are seen and only three named: Bobbin, Mr. Pekoms and Baron Tamago of the Longlegs tribe. The latter members were sent to Fishman Island to collect the tribute of sweets and met Luffy.

  • Badass Adorable: Pekoms, whose eyes are ridiculously tiny and utterly defuse any seriousness when he's trying to threaten people. He also has a bounty of 330.000.000 Bery.
  • BFS: Bobbin carries a very massive sabre on his back.
  • Big Eater: Both Bobbin and Pekoms are implied to enjoy eating.
  • Funny Animal: Mr. Pekoms is a lion in a nice suit and sunglasses armed with a sword.
  • Gonk: Bobbin.
  • Gratuitous French: Tamago says French words at the end of statements.
  • Jerkass: Bobbin is seen laughing after burning down a country.
  • Ki Attacks: Pekoms can at least use the Color of Armor style of Haki.
  • Meaningful Name: "Tamago" means Egg, which is quite fitting considering his body shape.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: Pekoms casually dodges a scythe attack from Caribou. It only takes two panels and Pekoms only makes the minimum effort necessary for Caribou to miss.
  • One-Man Army: Apparently, Bobbin alone was enough to burn down a whole country by himself.
  • Only Sane Man: Tamago, compared to the other members seen so far, seems to be the most reasonable and calm.
  • Ornamental Weapon: Pekoms' sword.
  • Punny Name: Pekoms may come from "Peko Peko", a Japanese expression for hunger.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Baron Tamago has long legs, an egg-shaped body, and a mustache, like Dr. Eggman. Even his name(See above) translates to 'Egg Baron'!
    • Pekoms is a Lion-Turtle. It could also refer to the mythological creature.
    • One still unnamed member is a cute girl with three eyes. It could be a Shout-Out to Yuzo Takada's 3 x 3 Eyes, to Tenshinhan from Dragon Ball, or to Hosuke Sharaku from The Three-Eyed One.
  • Simple Staff: Baron Tamago.
  • Talking Animal: Like Bepo, Pekoms is a talking lion.
  • Third Eye: The yet-to-be-named three-eyed girl.
  • Turtle Power: Pekoms has a Turtle Zoan, making him a Lion-Turtle man.

Punk Hazard Denizens

The weird inhabitants of the deserted island. They all appear to be mythological creatures of some sorts, including centaurs and satyrs. They're working for Caesar Clown, a former colleague of doctor Vegapunk. Other relevant denizens include Monet, a harpy, the Yeti Cool Brothers, the former pirate captain Brownbeard, now a crocodile centaur, and Trafalgar Law.
