Pair Of Kings is a Disney XD Original Series, that premiered on September 10, 2010.

The series revolves around Boomer (Doc Shaw) and Brady (Mitchel Musso), orphaned twin brothers who soon discover that their parents were rulers of an island called Kinkow, and the twins become the next rulers as well.

Other characters include:

  • Lanny (Ryan Ochoa): The twins' cousin and the next in line for the throne. He deeply despises Boomer and Brady and often tries come up with ways to get rid of them. Boomer and Brady never realize their cousin's true colors. He is the main antagonist of the series.
  • Mason Makoola (Geno Segers): The Royal Secretary, head of security, and was a loyal friend to Brady and Boomer's parents. He often serves as a role model for the twins, and usually solves the problems they cause.
  • Mikayla Makoola (Kelsey Chow): Mason's teenage daughter and Brady's love interest. She is shown to be very skilled with swords, and is also the best trained royal bodyguard in the kingdom.
Tropes used in Pair of Kings include:
  • Alliterative Name: Mason Makoola and Mikayla Makoola.
  • Action Girl: Oh so very much Mikayla.
  • Assumed Win: Lanny was so sure he'd win the King For a Day contest (helped by the fact he stuffed the ballot box with his name) he started shouting an order as soon as the winner had been announced before realizing he didn't win.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: Mikayla and Mason vs. The Pirates.
  • Badass Bass: Mason. It was poked at in one episode when Boomer and Iris asked him to do a movie trailer.
  • Blessed with Suck: Brady and Boomer have "twinstinct", which causes both of them to feel pain when one of them is hurt.
  • Broken Aesop: The "Dinner for Squonks" episode arguably warns about respecting the attitudes of other cultures. However, the Squonks, while nice and well-meaning, did not respect the kings' culture, as they forced Brady and Boomer to do things that were disgusting for humans (assuming the Squonks are not human).
  • Butt Monkey: In several episodes, Lanny fills this role.
    • Mahama in pretty much every episode he appears in. Heck he's almost as much of one as Kopelman. From almost being blamed in his first appearance, Publicly humiliated in Masons humiliation ceremony, attacked by the king-hating Viking spirit while it's posessing Boomer, got turned into one of The evil wizard's Zombie minions and so much more.
  • The Cast Showoff: Mitchel Musso.
  • Catch Phrase:

Brady: (while flexing) Boom, Boom, POW!

  • The Chosen One: Brady and Boomer may be the Kings of Legend, who will bring peace and prosperity back to the island. Brady and Mason believe it, while Boomer, the Elders, and even the oracular Lady of the Cave have their doubts.
  • Cloudcuckooland: Kinkow, full stop.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Brady and Boomer can kick surprising amounts of ass when Mason and Mikayla aren't there to bail them out. "The Prom" and "Kings of Legend, pt. 2" are prime examples.
  • Damned By Faint Praise: Boomer is given a plague that reads 'your dancing makes others feel better about themselves'.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mikayla.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: During Lanny's first brief stint as the King of Kinkow, he sent someone to the dungeons for defeating him in a checkers game years ago; another one for growing faster than him; several people, for unspecified reasons, to the dungeons, moss and tar pits (mostly the dungeons). And, if not for the fact the titular kings returned, we'd know what he had in mind for people he didn't like.
  • Do-It-Yourself Theme Tune: Mitchel Musso and Doc Shaw sing the theme song, "Top of the World".
  • Dude Magnet: Mikayla, of course.
  • Eviler Than Thou: Lanny finds himself on the wrong end of this trope in "Kings of Legend, pt. 2".
  • Evil Plan: Lanny has a lot of these kinds of schemes. He even keeps them in a briefcase!
  • The Evil Prince: Technically Lanny, as he was supposed to be king, but then Boomer and Brady came along, so Fridge Logic applied, he is now a prince.
  • Five-Man Band:
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: "A Mermaid's Tail" had Boomer say "I usually like my girls to have legs!"
    • The same episode has this exchange, complete with Boomer and Brady noticeably bouncing up and down rather excitedly.

Mermaid: We all want you...
Boomer: Go on.
Mermaid: To take your little human feet...
Brady: I'm with you. And...
Mermaid: Get your kingly butts out of this castle!
Boomer: *very excitedly* Okay, then what?!

    • Also, when Lanny meets a mermaids, who just acquired her legs, he says, "You're awfully tall. Some guys might find that intimidating for precisely the same reason I find it exciting."
    • "Big Kings on Campus" had Brady say he has a man-crush on Tristan, Mikayla's friend. He was lying, but still...
    • One quote:

Boomer: Those spikes look like they could turn men into women.

    • Brady wears a tushie cup. I think we all know what that was supposed to be.
    • In "Oh Brother, Where Arr Thou?", the twins give Two-Peg a purple nurple at the end.
    • In "Kings Of Legend, Pt.2", the twins camp out in the jungle. When they wake up, they're in a... suggestive position. It wouldn't have been as bad if Boomer didn't say something like this to Brady:

Boomer: Why are you spooning me?

Lanny: If you ever want revenge... here's my card.

  • Oh Crap: Boomer and Brady have several of these moments, but other characters have had one.
    • Mason had his moment at his Ceremony of Shame when Lanny brought out his embarassing exercise video.
    • Mason and Mikayla had several trying to hide Brady's Waka-Waka bite side-effects from his parents.
    • The saleswoman of the Cowboy and Supernatural shop had one, too, when she found out that he released the king-hating Viking spirit.
    • Lanny has had a fair share, especially when he realized he was standing over a shipment of weapons that were being dropped from the sky. It Makes Sense in Context.
  • Only Sane Man: Mikayla and/or Mason usually fall into this role.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different
  • Overprotective Dad: Mason is this to Mikayla. It's made worse with the fact he's this ripped guy with a HUGE machete. It's not looking so good for guys who want to ask Mikayla out...
    • Kinkow traditions states that before you have to ask out a girl you have to get her father's permission... by surviving a night in the forest playing the Most Dangerous Game. The guy gets hunted down by the girl's father. No wonder Mikayla doesn't have a boyfriend...
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Boomer's Junga Ball team.
  • Reality Is Unrealistic: Though very rare, it is possible for a mixed race couple to have twins that each bear the physical features of a different race.
  • Rigged Contest: For the King For a Day Contest, Lanny stuffed the ballot box with his name so he could win. Averted, however, because by some miracle, Lanny did not win.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Mitchel Musso's character was probably phased out because of Musso's recent arrest for DUI.
  • Running Gag: The vase in the kings room gets broken every few episodes in various different ways.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The ghosts sold at the Cowboy and Supernatural shop come in cans, and it just so happened that Brady let an evil ghost out by accident.

  • Smug Snake: Lanny.
  • Start My Own: Not satified with how Brady runs Kinkow's Junga Ball team, Boomer started his own team.
  • Studio Audience
  • Taken for Granite: The evil wizard from the "Kings Of Legend" episodes was turned to stone a long time ago...then he got revived. Then, he got turned back to stone.
  • Took a Level in Badass: the kings subtly, while their attitudes towards danger hasn't changed the fact that they are willing to face it and actually succeed in defeating some adversaries on their own shows that they have gotten better.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Inverted. You'd never know Boomer and Brady were twins until it is outright stated.
  • The Un-Reveal: Nobody knows who the eldest twin is. This is the reason Brady and Boomer equally share the power as the Kings of Kinkow instead of the elder twin being the only king.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot/Vomit Discretion Shot: When the twins and the king for a day are in the nest of the giant prehistoric-like bird, they think that its going to speak to them. Cue a squick inducing pinkish deluge splattering on the twins. On another note...they LIKED it. Your Mileage May Vary for which trope the vomit shot falls under...
