Pepper Ann/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Artistic License: Biology Moose has brown hair when both of her parents are reheads. Calls the official reason for their divorce into question don't it?
    • The episode "Dances With Ignorance" revealed that Pepper Ann has Navajo Indian as an ethnicity in her family and all of them had black/brown hair. It could be a recessive gene.
      • Case in point. Red hair is recessive to brown.
  • Cliché Storm: But was written well enough to get away with it.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Pepper Ann's looking for her dad's old letters to Lydia in the attic, and finds that they've all got lots of their content edited out (most of which verged on being risque, and one of which was apparently so spicy that everything was cut except for "Dear Lydia" and "Love, Chuck"). PA calls to her mom downstairs and asks why the letters have parts cut out. We hear Lydia walking out the door and driving out.
    • The end of the first episode when Principal Hickey is still mad at Pepper Ann ruining the school's chances at winning the Perfect Yearbook Award. His line: Only 1,478 days until she [Pepper Ann] graduates. I think I'm going to be sick!"
  • Ear Worm: "Who's that girl? What's her name? Is she cool? Is she lame? Oh, you're talking about what's her name? PEPPER ANN!"
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Trinket.
    • Nicky.
  • Fanon: It's often believed that this show and Codename: Kids Next Door take place in the same universe, despite the Fridge Logic that would cause.
    • Moose is believed to be FtM.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: There are some PA/Milo and Nicky/Milo fans out there.
  • Nausea Fuel: Pink Eye Pete.
  • Needs More Love: Considered to be one of the best cartoons of the late 90's, but never really hit it big. Its fanbase formed pretty much after the show ended.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: The series was really good, but it was also overshadowed by a merchandise bonanza and cult hit.
  • Retroactive Recognition: A non-acting example: Tom Warbuton, the guy who made the more well-known series Codename: Kids Next Door did the character designs. Fanon states the two shows share the same universe.
  • So Bad It's Good: The theme song.
  • Tear Jerker: The final episode.
  • Too Good to Last: Though it as least got a Grand Finale.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion:
    • Moose (real name Margaret Rose)
      • She looks gender-neutral even as a teenager/young adult.
    • She gets it from her mother, as a flashback reveals.
    • Pepper Ann herself, to a few people. It's probably the voice.
