And the Fandom Rejoiced: Remember the complaining over Persona 1 remake's soundtrack? Atlus heard your complaints. Persona 2's remake lets you pick either the new soundtrack or the PS1 soundtrack.
- It's finally being released in North America. SO MUCH REJOICING.
- Eternal Punishment is coming to the PSP as well, even though I Knew It!, YAY!
Anticlimax Boss: If you prepare for the bosses, they'll become this trope. It's also possible to kill 'em all with Armageddon.
Author's Saving Throw: The North American version of Eternal Punishment is a peculiar example, as it reverted the original Persona's characters back to their canonical Japanese surnames. For sake of continuity, however, the characters' first names were left Anglicized. The localization team tried to compensate for this Continuity Snarl by retconning some of the bigger translation goofs; For example, the revelation that "Guido Sardenia" is actually an alias for Guido Kandori, the previous game's antagonist. He's still named Guido, due to Nate and co. retaining their western names, so Eternal Punishment breaks even and just calls him Guido Candor.
Awesome Ego: For most of Innocent Sin, Eikichi Mishina would happily talk about how awesome he is, and most of the fans of the game would agree.
Complete Monster: Nyarlathotep, gleefully taking advantage of the protagonists' emotions, and being the cause of everything.
- Okamura is one of the most unlikable characters in the Persona series, even though she isn't completely unsympathetic due to her unrequited love for Jun's father, her actions in the series are just unforgivable not only does she believe and support in the apocalypse started by Nyalarthelhop, she is the one who stabs Maya with the Spear of Longinus, killing her in Innocent Sin. Then in Eternal Punishment, in an extra dungeon after recalling some of her memories from the previous game, she doesn't regret anything at all, and instead forces you to collect a ridiculously large sum of money (or five valuable coins) to fund her research before she removes a seal you need to break.
Genius Bonus: There's several small bits of trivia, ranging from Aztec mythology to the significance of the names Maya and Maia.
- The publishing company Maya works at, Kismet, is a synonym for "destiny".
  - And, of course, all the Personae (except Tatsunoshin Suou, Maihime Amano, Junnosuke Kuroda and Alfred/Yamoaka from Eternal Punishment) are from real mythologies.
Ho Yay: Jun Kurosu, who definitely sees Tatsuya Suou as more than a friend.
- Parts of the game and interviews would imply Suou and Kurosu are the intended Innocent Sin pairing. Specifically scenario designer Satomi Tadashi and character designer Kaneko Kazuma.
Les Yay: Yukino and Anna in Innocent Sin. If you pick the wrong choice to leave Yukino behind at the entrance to Caracol, Anna will jump off the bridge in Caracol holding hands with Shadow Yukino, who convinced her to do it so that they would be together forever. If you bring Yukino, she will, after you fight Joker, give her Persona ability to Jun and go off into the city to fight Nazis with Anna, who has promised to look after her now that she doesn't have her Persona anymore.
Memetic Mutation: Let's positive thinking!
- Tatsuya's talent in SFX-imitating, as lampshaded in the drama CD. Fans took it and ran with it.
Moral Event Horizon: Believing and support in the apocalypse started by Nyarlathotep would be bad enough, but Okamura definitely crosses one when she stabs Maya with the spear of Longinus, killing her in Innocent Sin.
Narm: The voice acting in Eternal Punishment. Leaves much to be desired. "It's self-defense. There's NO problem with that", anyone? Also, Hitler wearing sunglasses in the PSP remake.
- Narm Charm: Nobody can deny this makes the fight even better.
Take That, Scrappy!: Tadashi's absence in Eternal Punishment is explained that he is being chased by assassins, though it is likely also because of him being generally disliked by the fans.
The Woobie: Jun... and pretty much everyone else, really.
