Power Rangers Dino Thunder/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Linkara puts forth the theory that Tommy's Journey to the Center of the Mind in "Fighting Spirit" was brought about because he thinks of himself as a Power Ranger first and Tommy Oliver second, and that the images of his past Ranger identities were trying to make him realize that without the man, there is no Ranger.
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Jason David Frank, of course.
  • Come for the X, Stay for the Y: More than a few fans who came onboard because of Tommy's return ended up staying for the awesome True Companions Conner, Kira, Ethan and Trent became.
  • Complete Monster: Mesogog, who is pretty much a dino-Hitler.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: The background music whenever the Rangers morph. Listen to it here.
    • For shame for not mention the theme song, even Linkara mentioned that the song had grown on him, and has a strong rock rhythm to it.
  • Ear Worm: There is a certain catchy flavor to the themes song about how "Victory is ours forevermore!"
    • Also, around this time, Emma Lahana (Kira) was attempting to launch a music career; her self-penned music was used on different occasions, as well as being available on her website. The songs "Freak You Out" & "Patiently" in particular, were rather catchy.
  • Evil Is Sexy: Elsa.
  • Fan Nickname: While (arguably) considered canon, "Mr. O'Shaughnessy" from Lost and Found in Translation has become the Western fan nickname for an actor who's appeared in several Super Sentai and Kamen Rider in varying durations (the Coal Org in Gaoranger, the takoyaki chieftain in Kamen Rider Blade, etc.) Usually he's either a chef or a customer.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Kira/Conner and Kira/Tommy are more liked than Kira/Trent
  • Fan Wank: How Tommy got that PhD in archaeology in the first place. A theory goes that when he had his brain scrambled by Prince Gasket in Power Rangers Zeo, he gained the ability to detect temporal anomalies and (briefly) see into the future. Thus, the ability to see the future also allows him to see the past, giving him near-perfect historical knowledge as well as just generally boosting his intelligence.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Tommy's morpher this season is a two-piece device that requires him to insert a key into a wrist brace. This is the same setup as in Gosei Sentai Dairanger, which only got one of the six Ranger suits in Power Rangers. Guess who wore that suit?
    • It's also the same setup for the Turbo Morphers.
    • In "Fighting Spirit", three Rangers, one red, another white, the other green, gave their powers to someone in a near-death experience. The same thing happens to Gai in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Bonus points for the Green Ranger being the same one in Gokaiger.
      • And the White Ranger in the Gokaiger scene is the one from the Sentai for this series.
  • Memetic Mutation:
  • Nightmare Fuel: Mesogog, plain and simple. Possibly the scariest evil being since Lord Zedd.
    • He's actually worse, because Lord Zedd still had some sense of humor to him that made him seem more Evilly Affable. Not with this guy, AT ALL!
      • He lampshades this in "Back In Black" after a captured Tommy fires off another badass snark: "There's that wit again. If I had a sense of humor, I might actually appreciate it."
    • And that voice...
      • Not. Raised. ONCE.
    • The fact Mesogog's suit looks extremely realistic, complete with a working mouth with internal details, makes him all the more terrifying.
    • Some spoonful of Fridge Horror about what he did to Lothor:

Mesogog: (after turning Lothor into a doll of himself in a jar so collectable...

    • Some of Anton's transformations into Mesogog.
