- Hurting Hero: He grew up in the jungle, knowing nothing about where he came from. As a Ranger, he later learns his parents are presumed dead. He then learns they are dead and were killed by their friend, Dr. Adler (who became Master Org). Cole demonstrates considerable restraint in not killing Adler when he had the chance.
- King of Beasts: He leads the team, and uses the Red Lion Wildzord.
- Large Ham: He stands out with his overly serious lines during the Red Ranger Reunion episode, in stark contrast with his predecessors' more relaxed deliveries. Even Carter was more laidback in comparison.
- Law of Chromatic Superiority: Now who got a Battlizer, a second Cool Bike, and the chance to go on a mission with nine other Red Rangers?

- Mythology Gag: Master Org looks similar to the main villain from Gosei Sentai Dairanger, who had to be written out of the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This was apparently intentional.
- One-Winged Angel: In the end, absorbs the Org Heart and transforms into a near unstoppable behemoth who singlehandedly kills all the Wild Zords and nearly wins. The only thing that stops him is wall the Wild Zords coming Back from the Dead.
- Orcus on His Throne: Justified at first because he's truly only human at the beginning and wouldn't be much of a threat himself. Then he goes One-Winged Angel...
- Was Once a Man: Early on, subverted; but then the real Master Org came and took over Adler fully.

Then her efforts are dismissed as Mandilok uses her to shield himself from the rangers' attack.
