Power Rangers Wild Force/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Admit it, "Forever Red" is a full-fledged mix of non-sexual Fan Service as well as Mythology Gags by the bucketload, with obvious results.
  • Anvilicious: The Animus Arc.
  • Complete Monster: Master Org. Or more precisely, Dr. Viktor Adler. "I finished off your parents, and I enjoyed every single minute of it!"
    • Worse? He's the first villain in Power Rangers history to willingly become a monster. All previous villains either come from a race that was Exclusively Evil, were kidnapped and raised to be evil, just generally raised to be evil to begin with, or otherwise having had no control over the consequences of their reasons for being a monster. Dr. Adler willingly ate the seeds for the expressed purpose of brutally murdering Cole's parents, all for a petty grudge. Taking this into consideration, he is quite possibly one of the most sickeningly evil villains in Power Rangers history. Cole outright says he can't sense a heart in the man.
  • Creator's Pet: Cole, so much so that when rumors began his actor, Ricardo Medina, Jr., might be appearing in Samurai, a season whose source material (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) fans are rabidly protective of, people began having fits.
    • That is, until the fans met Deker. And for some fans who consider Samurai one of the franchise's worst seasons, Medina as Deker is one of the only highlights.
  • Crossover Ship: Taylor/Eric, when the Time Force Rangers are in town.
  • Ear Worm: The Wild Force theme song. Linkara himself admitted that he actually believed it was made by Ron Wasserman, due to being very energetic and catchy.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Zen-Aku.
  • Epileptic Trees: Danny Delgado has the same last name as the SPD Yellow Ranger, Z. Since SPD takes place Twenty Minutes Into the Future and Z's parents were canonically scientists involved in creating Ranger powers, people think Z might be Danny's daughter.
  • Evil Is Cool: Zen-Aku. Fans adore him, so much that he was brought back for another episode and again at the end of the series as a being separate from Merrick... somehow.
  • Fan Dumb: There are many in the fandom who vehemently deny that Wild Force has any connection to Disney (calling it and counting it as a Saban season) when the buyout happened in pre-production, and the first four episodes had a Disney Enterprises copyright.
    • Some fans (like myself) consider Wild Force a Saban season thematically rather then who produced it. Wild Force has Reinforcements from the Future and Forever Red connecting it to Saban with no such connection to any Disney Season save possibly for Venjix from Forever Red being the same as RPM Venjix Virus. Besides that it was the last season to have been started by Saban and the last to be produced in the United States rather then New Zealand, where Disney shifted production to in order to save money.
  • Funny Moments: When Onikage helps Toxica and Jindrax infiltrate the Animarium in the middle of the night, the Rangers end up confronting them in their pyjamas.

Onikage: So these are the famous Power Rangers... interesting outfits.
Jindrax: (to Danny) Nice teddy bear.

  • Foe Yay:
    • Zen-Aku and Merrick.
    • Cole and Master Org.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This won't be the last time we would see an environmentally conscious mecha.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks: As mentioned above, the show was largely criticized for being too similar to Gaoranger.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Onikage.
  • Memetic Outfit: Jen's black leather in the Time Force crossover. (And also, "Forever Red" has Andros in his cloak again.)
  • Moment of Awesome: Like the other Power Ranger seasons, this one had quite a few. Perhaps the one that stood out was when all the Wild Zords destroyed by Master Org along with all the Wild Zords that had been lost for centuries returned in the Ranger's Darkest Hour, giving them more power than ever before, allowing them to destroy Master Org once and for all and end the terror of Orgs forever. Being reunited with their Wild Zord friends who they thought were gone forever could also count as heartwarming.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
  • Needs More Love: Accoding to Linkara, who on the whole rather likes this season. Save for the Animus arc, Natch.
    • In that same way, the season is nowadays considered underrated.
  • Running the Asylum: Mostly when it comes to the teamups (see, Tropes Are Not Bad.)
  • Tear Jerker: No matter what you think of Cole, you gotta admit that the episode where he finds out the truth about his parents's deaths is genuinely sad.
  • The Scrappy: Kite. A whiny little brat who completely disparages the Rangers' efforts and sacrifices, rants on and on about how Humans Are the Real Monsters, is perfectly willing to abandon them and Shayla to die, hammers in the Green Aesop in the most annoying, tedious and Anvilicious way possible, is of little help when actually needed, and and has an annoying, whiny voice.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Got a lot of this, having to follow fan favorite Time Force.
  • Villain Decay: Remember that HUGE planet-destroying serpent robot that completely dwarfed the other zords and couldn't be fought, only ran away from? Yeah well, now it's about 1/5 of its size, and can be defeated by 1 guy on a flying motorbike. And its planet-destroying laser won't even kill the guy flying inside its mouth. Though to be perfectly fair, this was due to Executive Meddling forcing them to axe a far more impressive Serpentera fight.
    • Considering both comments above about Kite and Serpentera I thought they were connected. Thus Kite A.K.A. Animus gave Cole the new vehicle to defeat Serpentera because as a god he knew that Cole would need a godly weapon to stop Serpentera
  • What Could Have Been: As mentioned, they told The Powers That Be that they were going to bring Cole's parents back near the end. Allegedly (which means it may be Blatant Lies) they were going to be revealed to be... Toxica and Jindrax. (Of course, since from day one they were known to have been around 3,000 years ago, that doesn't really work, so it may have been a lie... but still.)
    • There are officially 100 Power Animals, but we only ever see 22. Toei actually designed and detailed about a dozen more exclusively for Wild Force, including a peacock with many weapons as its tail feathers and a wallaby with a baby in its pouch. These can be found in the artbook Super Sentai Robot Art Collection.
