  • Alas, Poor Villain: Ecliptor. Rita, Zedd, and Divatox turn human and he dies.
  • Complete Monster: Dark Specter and Darkonda. Astronema briefly borders on this trope when Dark Specter gets her Drunk on the Dark Side, but she gets better.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: In the finale, Bulk and Skull initiate an I Am Spartacus moment. Later on, they lead the civilian charge against the armies of evil. Doubles as a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.
    • In "Wasp with a Heart," a good-hearted monster was shot and wounded by another monster, while shielding Cassie from the blast as she'd been overpowered and was helpless . When Cassie spots the injured monster, who she had grown to feel sorry for, in immense pain she turns down-right scary. At that moment, Cassie could have probably taken down Ecliptor and Astronema by herself unmorphed.
    • Adam coming back to help Carlos, potentially sacrificing his life to do so. And this was before team-ups became a seasonal event.
    • Let's face it, the first Curb Stomp Battle between the Space and Psycho Rangers was absolutely awesome. And then T.J. actually uses strategy to fight back.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Divatox's effect from the Z-Wave.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "True Blue to the Rescue" is looked upon as a good Justin episode, not only resolving dangling plot lines from the end of Turbo but providing a more proper parting between the characters.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Several.
    • T.J., having been demoted from Red Ranger to Blue Ranger, was guaranteed this slot.
    • Ecliptor, for his complex character and status as Anti-Villain, is easily the most popular Dragon in the series (after Goldar).
    • Bulk & Skull, the only original cast members left, had their popularity confirmed with their Crowning Moment of Awesome at the end of the season.
  • Evil Is Sexy: Melody Perkins as Astronema gained quite a few fans from this series.
  • Fanon: The United Alliance of Evil being the name of the collection of Big Bads. It actually comes from a throwaway line in Power Rangers Zeo about King Mondo having broken away from something called the United Alliance of Evil - just who and what that is isn't expounded upon, and the name is never used at any other time. It makes a pretty good name for PRiS' villain group, but Canon it's not.
    • Also in most stories where Karone becomes a ranger as opposed to canon she will usually be the purple ranger based on the color of her honorary ranger outfit.
  • Freud Was Right: Take a long, hard look at Mega-V3.
    • Andros seems to be obsessed with his sister.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: "When Push Comes to Shove" and its 9/11 analogues. The episode featured Cassie and a guy she's on a date with trapped at the top of the tallest building in Angel Grove as a beast is trying to knock it to the ground, trying to send Angel Grove up in smoke.
  • Growing the Beard: It was shocking how effectively dramatic this show got (while still having the cheesy charm of the overall series). This is especially noteworthy as it came after the unpopular Turbo.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Astronema's "I wouldn't want to be a Power Ranger anyway!" Numerous production issues resulted in the actress becoming the Pink Ranger halfway through the next season.
    • Kind of a meta example, but in the full version of the theme song there are the lyrics "Long live the Power Rangers." To elaborate. "In Space" was meant to be (and was in fact written as) the finale of Power Rangers as a franchise. This addition to the lyrics reflected this mindset, but if one looks at it from today and notices the 12+ seasons that followed...
  • Ho Yay: Andros has this with both Carlos and Zhane.
  • Jerkass: Carlos in "Carlos on Call". He gets easily angered at a little girl when she finds out that he's a Power Ranger and begins to blackmail him. Anyone of the Power Rangers would have gotten frustrated at her, sure, but Carlos snaps and yells at her, calling her a spoiled brat.
  • Les Yay: Ashley and Karone in the few scenes where Karone is Karone
  • Magnificent Bastard: Astronema is the best in the show's history.
  • Memetic Outfit: Andros' cloak from his Establishing Character Moment: he shows up with it for both of his future team-ups.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Dark Specter brainwashing Astronema after her Heel Face Turn. It worked so well at turning her evil, it resulted in a Plan on her part that nearly killed him THAT HE NEVER FOUND OUT ABOUT.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Alpha 6. He started out in Turbo as a Totally Radical Replacement Scrappy for Alpha 5, and the show surprisingly redeemed him by making him even more of a Suspiciously Similar Substitute, to the point where he's a straight Expy of 5. Vocal Evolution played a big role, trading in the annoying Noo Yawk accent of Catherine Battistone to cute little brother-ish vocals of Wendee Lee.
    • Justin's return episode helped ebb a lot of the anger at his character, as despite everything he represented (an attempt to appeal to the kids), he was still a Ranger, a member of the team and there was some genuine emotion between all of them.
  • Special Effect Failure: The staff, because of their reduced budget due to the failure of Turbo, must've been like, "Screw it! It's the last season and we're gonna pull out all the stops anyway. They don't have footage of flying in space? Fine, we'll just shoot it ourselves and have them model against a green-screen. It looks terrible, but who cares? Move on!"
    • As Linkara also rightfully points out, you don't necessarily need great special effects if you have a great story, and In Space's story is widely considered to be the best.
  • Springtime for Hitler: One of those real-life examples.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Every season after in Space has essentially been trying to copy the magic that made this season work. Some have managed better than others, but one major advantage this season has had over the others is the returning characters and strong mythology and continuity nods. The standalone team, standalone season format makes it more difficult to escalate the action and develop the characters.
