Pretty Cure Lucky Shuffle/Characters
This is the character sheet for the fanfic Pretty Cure Lucky Shuffle. The hypothetical casting by the author is just for fun.
Pretty Cure and Allies
Momoi Kazue (Cure Saber) | Voice Actor: Kikuchi Mika (Japanese), Julie Ann Taylor (English)
- Big Eater: Where sweets are involved, anyway.
- Blow You Away: "Pretty Cure Spade Spiral", which also involves lots of spinning.
- Book Dumb: Borderline-- while she isn't great at academics, her grades aren't terrible, and she's willing to study so she can get into the same high school as her friends.
- Camera Fiend: She has her moments.
- Catch Phrase: "Our bonds are definitely unbreakable!"
- Colorful Theme Naming: Momoi means “peach well”.
- Crosscast Role: Plays the lead in her class's production of Peter Pan.
- Foil:
- Girly Girl to Takara's Tomboy
- Red Oni to Yori's Blue: She even has red eyes.
- Genius Ditz: She's normally quite the scatterbrain, but when she gets interested in something, she'll put her full attention and effort into it.
- Genki Girl
- The Heart
- The Heroine
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit: In episode 13, while Dressing as the Enemy to infiltrate Lustre.
- I’m Taking Them Home With Me!: Her stock reaction to any cute animals or children, much to Chance’s embarrassment.
- Mundane Made Awesome: Kazue doesn't just play tennis, she plays epic tennis.
- The Nicknamer: Towards friend and foe alike.
- Pink Means Feminine: It's one of her theme colors, and every single item in her wardrobe has at least some pink in it. Sure enough, she's the girliest of the team. This is further emphasized by Takara, her polar opposite, always wearing shades of blue.
- Plucky Girl
- The Power of Friendship: Kazue definitely believes in this, as evidenced by her catchphrase, and her unwavering belief in her friends is the main thing that keeps her going when things get rough. This comes in handy, considering that she gets into several "I Know You're In There Somewhere" Fights during the series.
- Skirt Over Slacks: Wears a skirt over leggings as Cure Saber.
- Sweet Tooth: Blatantly so, to the point where she can be easily bribed with sweets and dumps lethal amounts of sugar into her tea. She also taught herself to cook simply so she could bake more sweets for herself and others.
- Weapon of Choice:
- Cool Sword: Excel Foil
- Sai Gal: Forte Sai
- Who Wears Short Shorts?: Wears forest green shorts as part of her costume as Peter Pan.
- Will Not Tell a Lie: Or rather, hates lying, which makes hiding her double life difficult for her.
- You Gotta Have Green Hair
Kiyama Miho (Cure Etoile) | Voice Actor: Mitsuhashi Kanako (Japanese), Cree Summer Francks (English)
- Ambiguously Brown
- Beautiful All Along: Goes from a "dowdy nerd" to a very attractive girl just by changing her hairstyle, adding a bit of makeup, and wearing more stylish clothes, either because she's modeling for Sayo's photo project or she was talked into dolling herself up. And she's still very pretty without those things-- Miho tends to underestimate how attractive she really is.
- Big Sister Instinct: Develops some of this towards Chance. Apparently, she has a lot in common with Chance's actual big sister.
- But Not Too Foreign: Once admits to being this, although she doesn't really elaborate on what kind of "foreign" she is.
- Colorful Theme Naming: Kiyama means “yellow mountain”.
- Cry Cute: She's more likely to start crying when angry at or concerned about someone, rather than (or sometimes while) yelling at whoever set her off.
- Dark Skinned Violethead
- Deadpan Snarker: Sometimes shows this tendency, being the "sensible one" and all.
- Elemental Powers
- Light'Em Up: "Pretty Cure Stellar Comet"
- Shock and Awe: "Pretty Cure Clover Blitz"
- Genius Book Club
- Genre Savvy: Sometimes shows some of this tendency as well. Apparently, she watches a lot of space operas.
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit: In episode 13, while Dressing as the Enemy to infiltrate Lustre.
- In-Series Nickname: "Mi-chan"
- The Lancer: And sometimes The Smart Girl.
- Letting Her Hair Down: She does this whenever she's dolled up or is just relaxing around the house. Otherwise, it's kept in a loose ponytail.
- Meganekko: She wears red-frame glasses whenever she's working on a project or reading.
- Modesty Shorts: Notably, she's the only one of the Cures to actually wear these; the rest use some variation of Skirt Over Slacks.
- Ms. Fix-It: She wants to become one of these someday and knows quite a bit about repairing electronics already. She even helps build Pretty Cure's mid-season upgrades.
- Nerds Are Sexy: Well, Arata certainly thinks so.
- Sugar and Ice Girl: Miho is pragmatic, deadpan, and often frustrated by her friends' more immature antics, but she still clearly cares about and worries over them. Her loved ones are more than familiar with the "sugar" part of her personality, while the majority of the "ice" part is reserved for enemies... and Arata, when he's in Dogged Nice Guy mode.
- Team Mom
- Tights Under Shorts: In the 3D Movie.
- Weapon of Choice:
- Simple Staff: Stellar Batons
- Blade on a Stick: Brillant Lance
- What the Hell, Hero?: If someone is going to deliver this speech, it's going to be her. This is often coupled with Anger Born of Worry, especially when she tells Takara off mid-series.
Oume Takara (Cure Argent) | Voice Actor: Sawashiro Miyuki (Japanese), Caitlin Glass (English)
- Berserk Button: Do not make Kazue or Miho cry in front of her, or she will give you hell. Her hat is also not to be messed with.
- Bifauxnen: A mild example, but enough to inspire a bit of teasing, especially when she's mistaken for Kazue's boyfriend.
- Character Tics: Compulsively flipping her "lucky coin", either to make decisions or out of simple habit.
- Colorful Theme Naming: Ome means "blue plum".
- Extra Ore Dinary: "Pretty Cure Minted Round"
- Fake Defector: After Corazone kidnaps her in episode 8, she pretends to willingly side with Lustre in hopes of stealing back the cards they'd taken and freeing her brother. It backfires, and she ends up temporarily working for Lustre against her will.
- Foil:
- Masculine Girl to Arata's Feminine Boy
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Both, actually. She's the Blue Oni to Kazue and Arata's Red but the Red Oni to Miho and Yori's Blue.
- Tomboy to Kazue's Girly Girl
- Gun Twirling: Gratuitously so, both before firing either of her finishing moves and just because it's cool. She can get away with this since her weapons aren't actual guns and therefore can't misfire.
- He Is Not My Boyfriend: Arata is her "life partner", not her boyfriend. And no, Kazue isn't "his" girlfriend either.
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit: Her formal wear. She also dons a palette swap of Espada's outfit during her brief stint as a Lustre operative.
- Improbable Aiming Skills: Sometimes shows these, especially as Cure Argent.
- In-Series Nickname: "Tako[1]-chan", due to her mishearing Kazue calling her "Taka-chan" during their first meeting.
- Kid Detective
- Nice Hat: She wears a fedora with all of her regular casual outfits. Kazue confirms that Takara isn't herself when she doesn't wear her hat after "joining" Lustre.
- Nonuniform Uniform: Wears a hybrid uniform incorporating elements of the Ento and Destin uniforms.
- Parental Abandonment: Her mother died in an accident when she as a little girl and her father spent most of her childhood being distant towards her. At least she had her older brother, Tadao... until he went missing two years ago.
- Private Eye Monologue: Sometimes attempts these. She never finishes one, though.
- Skirt Over Slacks: As Cure Argent, she wears fitted slacks under her skirt. She also does this with her school uniform.
- The Smart Girl: And sometimes The Lancer.
- Stepford Smiler: She's something of a type A, hiding her fears and worries behind a nonchalant smile, especially after she learns what happened to Tadao. She's initially like this while brainwashed as well, until Espada calls her out on it.
- Weapon of Choice:
- The Gunslinger: Minted Sling
- Guns Akimbo: Dia Fusils
- White-Haired Pretty Girl: As Cure Argent. In civilian form, her hair is slate gray.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Defaults to this with most of her outfits, since she wants to dress like the (male) "hard-boiled" detectives from her favorite novels.
Akaki Yori (Yori V/Cure Chalice) | Voice Actor: Sato Yuko (Japanese), Emily Neves (English)
- Artificial Human: Yori is an advanced Homcrux who mostly functions like a normal girl, save for her enhanced constitution, inability to bleed, and link to Reine.
- Barrier Warrior
- Become a Real Girl: Her experiences as Cure Chalice gradually humanize her, for better or worse. However, she still wants To Become Human in the literal sense.
- The Big Girl
- Blue Oni to Kazue's Red: She even has blue eyes.
- Colorful Theme Naming: Akaki means “red tree”.
- Cool Big Sis: Acts one towards her Morality Pet, Aika.
- Creepy Child: One who grew up into a creepy teenager. This isn't exactly her fault, though.
- Dark Magical Girl
- Determinator: Shares Kazue's resolve during battle but is much grimmer than she is.
- Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette
- Even the Girls Want Her: Kazue swoons over Yori as much as the guys do during their first meeting.
- Evil President's Beautiful Daughter
- Extreme Doormat: She's something of this towards Reine, although her blind loyalty is out of fear and self-preservation, not because she actually lacks her own will and emotions, as Reine attests.
- First-Name Basis: Uses this on most everyone as a sign of how socially maladept she is.
- Friend to All Children: She seems to manage better with kids than she does people her own age. Threatening them in front of her is not a good idea.
- Hates Being Touched: Shows hints of this, stiffening up when Kazue hugs her and recoiling when Aika's mom touches her on the shoulder. She eventually gets better about it.
- Heel Face Turn: Did this pre-series. Or not... exactly. She's later revealed to be a (semi-willing) Heel Face Mole.
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit: Wears a pantsuit as her formal wear.
- In-Series Nickname: "Yocchin"
- No Social Skills: Her upbringing taught her how to be a loyal servant but left her clueless on how to handle regular interaction. She catches on fairly quickly thanks to the other Cures.
- Opera Gloves: Wears these as Cure Chalice.
- Rei Ayanami Expy: She has long, black hair, but otherwise fits almost every element of the description.
- Showgirl Skirt: Featured in her Cure outfit, although it's paired with leggings.
- The Stoic: But only because she has difficulty showing, let alone recognizing her own emotions at first.
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo
- Weapon of Choice:
- Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Royale Bouclier
- Deadly Disc: Amour Spinner
- Who Wears Short Shorts?: Part of her swimwear.
Chance / Shirayuki Mitsuo | Voice Actor: Satou Rina (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English)
- Colorful Theme Naming: Shirayuki means “white snow”.
- Feminine Boy to Aika's Masculine Girl
- It's All My Fault: The reason why he dislikes the idea of accepting help from the Cures at first-- the Cure Tarot and two of the Fortune Rings were lost because of his actions, therefore he should recover them himself. He gets over this mindset pretty quickly.
- Mentor Mascot
- Puppy Love/Interspecies Romance: With Aika.
- Shrinking Violet
- Squishy Wizard: He gets to play a more active role in combat after the Cures seal a few more attack and support cards, but he still has little in the way of physical offense or defense.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting
- Verbal Tic: "~chun", always in mascot form and when nervous or surprised in human form.
Madame Shouri | Voice Actor: Kyoda Hisako (Japanese), Melanie MacQueen (English)
- Complete Immortality
- Elderly Immortal: In appearance, anyway.
- Inexplicably Awesome: It's never exactly clear who or even what she is. She even hints that her current appearance isn't her true form, which might not even be human-looking.
- Meaningful Name: "Shouri" means "triumph", as in the "House of Triumph", her home base.
- Never Mess with Granny: If Chance's stories about her are any indication. Considering the hints about her true nature, she might be deliberately invoking the trope.
Lustre
Reine | Voice Actor: Doi Mika (Japanese), Wendy Lyon (English)
- Abusive Mother: While Reine shows affection towards Yori, it's clear that she sees her daughter as an extension of herself, not another life and has no problems emotionally manipulating her as needed. She isn't above killing her children if they rebel either - this is actually Yori #5 that Pretty Cure is interacting with.
- Achilles' Heel: She's pretty sure the power of Pretty Cure's "combined hearts" is hers.
- A God I Will Be: She's performing a ritual that will evolve her into a quasi-godlike state and wants to use the Cure Tarot's wish-granting power to eliminate the "imperfect" current universe, allowing her to recreate it in her image.
- Big Bad
- Blondes Are Evil
- Evil Matriarch
- Faux Affably Evil: Keeps a friendly and personable demeanor at all times, even when her actions are downright sadistic. Of course, it's all an act.
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit
- Life Drinker: One who aspires to Complete Immortality
- Older Than They Look: Reine is physically in her forties but looks about a decade younger. Chronologically, she's been alive for about two hundred and fifty years, give or take.
- Power Hair
- Red Right Hand: She's implied to be hiding something of the sort under one of her gloves.
- Ridiculously-Human Robots: Not Reine herself, but she keeps a few robotic doubles around for insurance.
- Truly Single Parent
Trebol | Voice Actor: Madono Mitsuaki (Japanese), Michael Sinterniklaas (English)
- Biseinen: Unfortunately, he's about as asinine as he is pretty.
- Blond Guys Are Evil
- The Brute
- Butt Monkey: He's one for the rest of Reine's inner circle-- and deservedly so.
- Camp Straight
- Casanova Wannabe: He is handsome, but his smug and clingy personality doesn't endear him to the women he hits on.
- Everything's Sparkly with Jewelry: Wears gem-studded rings on every finger and gold earrings. He literally pulls this off during his first appearance... and gets promptly saddled with his much-hated nickname as a result.
- Foil:
- Red Oni to Espada's Blue: Inverted, since he usually wears a blue suit.
- Sensitive Guy to Espada's Manly Man
- Greed: His primary failing (along with pride), hence his compulsion to hoard all the money and valuables that enter his field of vision.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Shows hints of this. Corazone muses that Trebol actively looks for things to feel insulted over.
- Mad Artist: Just about every one of his schemes, from turning people into stone statues to "infecting" Ento's citizens with magnetism is done For Art.
- Motor Mouth: Lampshaded in episode 8 when Espada wonders if Trebol ever shuts up. The answer is a resounding "no".
- My Name Is Not "Mr. Sparkle": But tell Kazue that.
- Sharp-Dressed Man
- Small Name, Big Ego
- Swiss Army Superpower: His personal weapon is a large quantity of specialized clay that he has psychic control over, allowing him to reform it into about anything he can think of.
- Third Person Person: Occasionally employs the more egotistical variant of this, combined with Spell My Name with a "The".
- True Art Is Incomprehensible: Operates under this principle.
- Unknown Rival: Trebol sees himself as Espada's most threatening competition and loves to remind the latter of this. Espada can't even remember Trebol's name.
- Verbal Tic: Compulsively adds "-baby" to the names of most women he addresses.
Dimante | Voice Actor: Ohara Sayaka (Japanese), Diane Michelle (English)
- Bifauxnen: She's basically an evil version, considering how little effort it takes for her to pass as a guy and how more attractive she (allegedly) is while cross-dressing.
- Combat Tentacles: She can project twin vines from her body that function like this; she also uses said vines as extra arms, in case she needs her hands free for something else.
- Epic Flail: Nightshade Flail
- Evil Genius
- Evil Laugh: Well, she is a mad scientist.
- For Science!: Dimante's excuse for pretty much everything she does.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Invoked-- although Dimante's mutations corrected her vision, she refuses to discard her glasses because they make her seem more sinister.
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit: However, she's almost always wearing a labcoat over it.
- Hypocrite: Looks down her nose at Yori for being inhuman when she's a woman slowly turning herself into a plant who's in love with a woman slowly turning herself into a robot.
- Lack of Empathy: Corazone is the only other person Dimante sees as human besides herself, while her loyalty to Reine is out of convenience. Everyone else is a prospective lab rat.
- Mad Scientist
- Morally-Ambiguous Doctorate: Usually addressed as "Doctor" or "Doc" rather than by name.
- Plant Person: Once a normal woman, her self-experimentation permanently altered her appearance and gave her several plant-based traits and abilities.
- Psycho Lesbian: Subverted-- her love for Corazone, while sometimes obsessively single-minded, is genuine and shows that she's capable of caring about another person. It's also pretty much her sole redeeming trait, considering how she is otherwise.
- Scary Shiny Glasses
- Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness
- Single-Target Sexuality: Corazone is the only person Dimante has ever been attracted to. It seems to be a one-sided deal, although Corazone's actions sometimes indicate otherwise.
- Tomboy to Corazone's Girly Girl
- Trademark Favorite Food: Compulsively snacks on plant food pellets and drinks liquid fertilizer in lieu of coffee.
- Villainous Crossdresser: In at least one episode. Corazone really seems to like "Mr. Dimante".
- You Are Number Six: She thinks of almost every being she's worked on, including Yori and Espada, in terms of their experiment numbers, not their names. She didn't know the latter even had a real name until Takara mentioned it.
- You Gotta Have Green Hair: However, it used to be brown.
Corazone | Voice Actor: Takahashi Chiaki (Japanese), Grey DeLisle (English)
- Anatomy Arsenal: Hides an absurd number of energy weapons in her body and keeps getting more.
- Boobs of Steel: She's the bustiest and physically strongest of the named female Lustre members. It's justified, since she deliberately had her appearance touched up during her surgeries, making her more "talented" as well as more powerful.
- Combat Stilettos
- Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: She wasn't very nice to begin with, but her cybernetic implants made her worse.
- Cyborg: Chose to become one not only for the super-strength, durability, and weaponry, but also because it would halt her aging, allowing her to remain beautiful forever.
- Dark Chick
- Girly Girl to Dimante's Tomboy
- Hollywood Homely: Deliberately invoked. She wasn't a stunner before becoming a cyborg, but she wasn't ugly either, as Dimante points out. However, Corazone thinks she used to look hideous and still harps on the "imperfections" in her current, more stereotypically beautiful appearance.
- Hot Chick in a Badass Suit: Notably, she's the only (named) female Lustre member to wear a skirt suit (even the nearly-as-girly Kazue wears a pantsuit while Dressing as the Enemy), although that outfit's just a cover for her preferred battle attire.
- I Just Want to Be Beautiful
- Leotard of Power: Wears one under her regular attire (somehow) and switches to it when fighting.
- Morality Pet: Corazone is the only person Dimante actually cares about. In turn, she's pretty much the only person in Lustre who isn't thoroughly creeped out by Dimante.
- Noblewoman's Laugh
- Pink Means Feminine
- Rose-Haired Girl
- Shock and Awe: She can give off short-range electric charges from her body and use them to power her attacks.
- The Tease: Towards Dimante, especially when the latter is dressed as a guy. She's also a tease towards Trebol and Espada, purely for the fun of it-- the former falls for this, the latter isn't interested.
- Tights With a Skirt: At least when not in combat.
- We Can Rebuild Her: Her origin, as revealed in a brief flashback. She was a secretary who was badly injured in an accident and "rescued" by Dimante, who wanted to create a battle cyborg. Corazone begged the doctor to make her beautiful as well as powerful, and... things went from there.
Espada / Oume Tadao | Voice Actor: Kakihara Tetsuya (Japanese), Crispin Freeman (English)
- Amnesiac Dissonance: Although Tadao's memories and personality were mostly brainwashed away, Espada unconsciously taps into them once in a while. This is rather detrimental to his work, since his former self was compassionate and hated violence.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Pre-brainwashing-- hurting his students or his little sister was the perfect way to make the normally mild-mannered Tadao snap. Takara even admits that some of Espada's behavior resembles how Tadao acted when his Berserk Buttons were pressed.
- Child-Hater: Professes to be one during his first battle with the Cures and seemingly cements this with his cruelty towards Aika during the same episode. He actually isn't a child hater, having subconsciously retained his former self's compassion for kids, he just figures he needs to be one.
- Cold Sniper
- Cyborg: He has a few implants that enhance his strength and suppress his original self. Unlike Corazone, he's still mostly human.
- The Dragon
- Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette
- Espada, You Are My Brother: As Takara is horrified to discover early on.
- Foil:
- Blue Oni to Trebol's Red: Inverted, since he wears a red cravat with his suit.
- Manly Man to Trebol's Sensitive Guy: Only as Espada - Tadao was very much a Sensitive Guy.
- Gun Blade: Stratos Flintlock. It fires elemental mana bursts rather than bullets.
- Nice Guy: Formerly; Tadao was a sweet-tempered and peace-loving young man. Espada? Not so much.
- Nice Hat: A white fedora. The brim's shadow partially obscures his face until episode 7.
- Sharp-Dressed Man: And mostly in white at that.
- The Stoic: Justified, since his emotions were artificially suppressed.
Supporting Characters
Shiono Aika | Voice Actor: Toyosaki Aki (Japanese), Kari Wahlgren (English)
- Girlish Pigtails
- Masculine Girl to Chance's Feminine Boy
- Morality Pet: Becomes this for Yori.
- Puppy Love/Interspecies Romance: With Chance.
- Snooping Little Kid: This leads to her discovering the Cures' identities and becoming their Secret Keeper.
- Tagalong Kid: For Pretty Cure.
- Tomboy: She gets her own girly counterpart in the series movie.
- The Unfavorite: As the youngest in a mostly-male family, she sees herself as this and acts out in an attempt to get others' attention. She gets over this complex pretty quickly after befriending the Cures.
Miyagi Arata | Voice Actor: Orikasa Ai (Japanese), Brianne Siddall (English)
- Bishonen
- Camp Straight
- Cassandra Truth: He's up-front about the stranger things he sees in Ento, but very few people actually believe him.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Dogged Nice Guy: Towards Miho at first. He tones it down after she calls him on it.
- Feminine Boy to Takara's Masculine Girl
- Keet
- Mundane Made Awesome: Arata treats on-the-fly clothing repair like some people treat martial arts.
- Real Men Wear Pink: Deliberately invoked; he claims that his refusal to hide his interest in sewing et al. actually makes him manlier, because "real men" would never be ashamed of what they love.
- Secret Keeper: Becomes another one after getting caught up in the Cures' activity several times.
- Stylistic Suck: His poetry is terrible.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Okui Miu | Voice Actor: Kobayashi Yuu (Japanese), Wendee Lee (English)
- Beware the Nice Ones: She's usually quite passive, but when angered, she's a force to be reckoned with.
- Bifauxnen: Kind of subverted. Although she looks enough like a Bishonen to once get mistaken for a boy in a dress, her personality and usual attire are quite feminine, and she clearly hates being treated like a boy.
- Brainy Brunette
- Even the Girls Want Her: She really wishes they didn't.
- Girly Girl to Sayo's Tomboy
- Huge Schoolgirl
- Mean Character, Nice Actor: Plays Captain Hook in her class's production of Peter Pan.
- Parental Substitute: For her younger brother, since her parents are frequently traveling or otherwise busy.
- Yamato Nadeshiko: She doesn't look like it, but she's one of these.
Matsuoka Sayo | Voice Actor: Aizawa Mai (Japanese), Stephanie Sheh (English)
- Catch Phrase: "I wonder, I wonder...”
- Fiery Redhead
- Princess Curls
- Ojou: Looks like and is sometimes treated as one, but has a very un-princesslike personality and taste in attire.
- Tomboy to Miu's Girly Girl
- Wrench Wench
