- Evil Costume Switch: She gets brainwashed and turns into an evil version called Dark Mercury; Moon manages to bring her back, though. She still almost kills her.

- Meganekko: As an obvious metaphor for Ami's introversion and fear of making friends. In the live action series she wore them more or less all the time in the earlier episodes despite not actually needing them.
