Primal Carnage

Primal Carnage is an upcoming[when?] game being developed by Lukewarm Media, an independent company. The game's premise centers on a team of mercernaries being sent to an island to correct an experiment gone wrong. This takes the form of shooting up some dinosaurs. In the game, you get to play as four dinosaurs and one pterosaur. The basic point of the game is similar to Team Fortress 2 and follows many of the same principles. However, Everything's Better with Dinosaurs. Besides, who doesn't want to play as a big red Tyrannosaurus Rex chomping down on overconfidant humans?
The official site can be found here. Development was largely dependent on donations for some time, and those were encouraged with inside peeks. (Donations have now been closed, however.)
- Evil-Detecting Dog: The Pathfinder class has one of these.
- Giant Flyer: Pteranodon.
- Stock Dinosaurs: The playable prehistoric reptiles are Tyrannosaurus rex, Deinonychus, Dilophosaurus, Pteranodon and Compsognathus. The known NPCs also fall in this cathegory so far.
- Shout-Out: All the playable dinosaurs are clearly Jurassic Park based in some way or another. There have also been a lot of promotional images and videos showing Tyrannosaurus fighting (the currently non-playable) Spinosaurus.
- Somewhere a Paleontologist Is Crying: This isn't meant to be scientifically accurate, of course, but there are a few noteworthy aspects...
- Ptero-Soarer: On the one wing, the Pteranodons are naked, have grasping feet, and a bit misproportioned, but on the other wing, they are quadrupedal, and according to one test animation, they will likely vault from the ground using their wings, like real pterosaurs.
- Raptor Attack: The Deinonychus (known officially as simply "Raptors") are nekkid and have deformed wrists, but there is the possibility of a mod skin that at least gives them some decent feathers.
- Deformed wrists no longer, as the community spoke and the devs listened. However, still nekkid.
- Tyrannosaurus Rex: For the most part it's okay, what with the horizontal body posture and all that, but a few minor details leave, er, something to be desired.
- The Compsognathus also lack feathers and the Dilophosaurus is a Jurassic Park-esque venom spitter (though thankfully its size is more similar to that of the real life Dilophosaurus and it doesn't have a neck frill).
- Tactical Rock-Paper-Scissors: The classes were initially designed with this in mind, so that every dinosaur (and pterosaur) had a human class designed to take them down (and vice versa). However, this feature has been toned down. The various advantages some classes have over others are still present, but the game no longer adheres closely to the rock-paper-scissors system.
- Take That: Remember in Jurassic Park III how a Spinosaurus fought and killed a Tyrannosaurus rex? Not so lucky this time round...
- Zerg Rush: The Compsognathus will attack this way.
