RWBY/Recap/V03/E12 End of the Beginning
Cinder kills Ozpin and Pyrrha. Ruby, who witnesses Pyrrha's death, unleashes white light from her eyes that engulfs Cinder and the dragon. When Ruby wakes up, Qrow explains that her ability comes being from a line of rare and powerful silver-eyed warriors, like her mother. With the CCT tower destroyed, civilians have lost trust in the kingdoms, while Ruby no longer has the support of her team, as Weiss was taken home by her father, an embittered Yang opts to stay home, and Blake leaves everyone. As winter falls, Ruby, Jaune, Nora and Ren travel to Haven, where Qrow suspects Cinder will attack next. The narrator, Salem, reveals herself as the true mastermind behind the Fall of Beacon.

- No Body Left Behind: What happens to Pyrrha.
- Traumatic Superpower Awakening: Ruby saw her friend Pyrrha killed. Then Ruby's silver eyes do a thing that freezes the Grimm unofficially nicknamed The Dragon. Admittedly that thing is still alive. While Ruby is able to remember the cause part of this trope, she can't remember the effect part of this trope, let alone being able to call upon her power. Also whether this is her actually awakening her power or merely tapping into it the first time is debatable.[1]
- Wham! Episode: Ozpin, the Big Good, goes MIA; a primary CCTS tower is destroyed and for the foreseeable future unsalvageable; Pyrrha dies; Ruby taps into a great power in her, but doesn't know how to call upon it; Blake is AWOL; and the Bigger Bad, who sometimes served as a narrator before, makes her first actual appearance.
