Revenge of the Nerds/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: The Tri-Lambs' musical number at the end of the Greek Games.
    • Two words: Liquid heat. Basically, the second half of the film is this on the nerds' part.
    • Ten minutes later, Gilbert gets one when he interrupts the Homecoming pep rally to call out the Alpha Betas (probably at risk to his own life).
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: Again, the musical number at the Talent Show.
    • The use of Queen's "We Are The Champions" at the end of the first movie, arguably the most effective use of the song in any media.
  • Hollywood Homely: Both the Triple Lambda guys themselves and the Omega Mu girls. Lampshaded by Booger:

The Omega Mu's?! But they're pigs!

  • Life Imitates Art: While the film series as a whole still has a devoted following; younger, casual movie fans may see the premise as outdated, now that Bill Gates and Paul Allen masterminded the true "Revenge Of The Nerds" in real life. Nerd/geek culture is far more mainstream among men and women today than in the 1980's and early 1990's.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "My son, soon you will take over."
    • "To truly hock a loogie, one must not retrieve the phlegm from the throat, but from the soul."
    • All together now - "NERRRRRRRRRDS!"
    • AH, HAHAHAHAHA!
  • Retroactive Recognition: Gilbert became Doctor Mark Greene.
  • Seinfeld Is Unfunny: The "humor" in this movie has not aged well, as the characters viewers are supposed to sympathize with would be considered perverts and felons nowadays. Taking non-consensual nude photos of sorority girls? Modern authorities consider that to be revenge porn. Dressing up as a girl's boyfriend to fool her into having sex with him? As the Trope page for Bed Trick says, that is rape. And viewers at the time thought Sheldon was bad...
