Rocket Power/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Acceptable Targets: Tourists.
  • Anvilicious
  • Non Sequitur Scene: The one episode which had a UFO abducting a whale...behind the back of a news reporter.
    • Which was rather amusing because the news reporter was stalling for an expected story and at that moment was commenting that nothing noteworthy was going on.
  • Broken Aesop: The episode "Power Girl Surfers" had Reggie starting a group of female surfers to prove that girls can be just as extreme as boys. She does this after Otto gets a big cover story in his favorite surfing magazine, which Reggie believes she deserves more than he does. The intended "girl power" message is admirable, but it's ruined by Reggie spending the entire episode acting like a blatant Jerkass, and essentially trying to sabotage Otto's shot at fame out of resentment. She claims that she was passed over for a cover story because she's a girl, even though there's no justification for this. Otto only got the story because there happened to be a writer for the magazine conveniently standing nearby.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: In an episode where the kids join a Sandcastle contest, they unfortunately find out that it's too close to the ocean and the tide threatens to wash it away. They try several things to hold the water off such as digging a moat for the water to come in and using a surfboard to hold the water off long enough for the judges to photograph it. Twister actually had asked Lars and his friends for help but they refused. However later on, Lars and his friends actually show up and help keep the surfboard up.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: And in said episode, the person who wins the sandcastle contest? A six-year-old-girl who was the only one who actually made a sandcastle.
    • Everyone else had made fantastic sculptures, but it sandCASTLE contest, so they had to give her the prize.
  • Ear Worm: Vegemite, Vegemite, we spread it on everything, it always tastes just right, Vegemite, Vegemite, Yum Yum morning, noon, and night!
  • Family-Unfriendly Aesop: The episode where Squid makes friends with an antisocial computer geek—don't hang out with them, they have no life!
  • Jerkass Sue: Otto, a completely rude and egotistical snot who constantly gets excused due to his supreme extreme sports abilities.
    • Actually, his Jerkass tendencies are heavily acknowledged. In fact, they are a major part of his character.
  • Memetic Mutation: As the ancient Hawaiians used to say...
    • IT'S TIME FOR A DICKING!
    • Forum threads asking posters to recount where they were and what they were doing, national-disaster style, "when the Squid totally beefed it".
  • Unfortunate Implications: The Latino kid is somewhat of a Cloudcuckoolander, yet he may as well as be the dumbest guy in the group.
    • Although this is the only one who's actually latino; Reggie and Otto are Ambiguously Brown and they probably could be of Latino descent.
      • They're biracial, half-Hawaiian.
