Rogue Trader/Quotes

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Ambition knows no Bounds.

What is the faith of a rogue, a reaver, an outcast noble soul who brings the Emperor's fury upon far worlds? Ask him if you dare.

Pride is not a sin. Hubris is not a failing. The Stars are yours if you have but the strength to grasp them.

It is interesting to note that nine out of ten Rogue Trader auctions end up this way. Why, I once accompanied by great-uncle Stephano to an auction held by the infamous Calligos Winterscale. Over a thousand guests, items of sublime rarity and workmanship, and the finest drinks and victuals to be found anywhere this side of Holy Terra. Within two hours, fifteen brawls had broken out, ten starships had changed hands, an ogryn had gotten into the amnesac and thrown Lady Jingerin out of a window, two orbital strikes had been called in (and promptly cancelled), and Inquisitor Falos Fruun had been caught in bed with, so the story goes, an Eldar Corsair, and had roamed the halls burning anyone who so much as giggled.

The whole point of Rogue Trader is that the characters in there are HUGE. Rogue Traders are equipped about like Inquisitors. No, not their acolytes you play the lower dredges of in Dark Heresy. Their lords.
Rogue Traders tend not to fear three dudes with a lasgun. This is not a threat to them. In fact, its an insult. You send three idiots with lasguns to the average rogue trader and he will hunt you down for it. You insinuated he can be dealt with that easily, and his reputation demands he prove that this was nowhere near an adequate challenge.
In Rogue Trader, its about larger-than-life characters dealing with larger-than-life problems and larger-than-life characters and threats. Yes, they'll get autocannons. They can easily get autocannons. But its not the main deal, except when the threat really truly IS that serious, and then they're equipped for it.
Nay, its the maneuvering, the politics, the profitmongering, the ability to turn a shit situation into enough money for new macrobatteries. Its a game of high-seas CEO Pirates in space.
