Rumble Roses/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Americans Hate Tingle: OK, Queens Match isn't really a character, but the reaction was exactly the same. Americans found it creepy and did not like it.
  • Broken Base: Rumble Roses attracted Anime fans and Professional Wrestling fans. They had very different ideas of what should be included. As it became clear the game was going to cater to the anime fans, most pro wrestling fans lost their enthusiasm if they didn't give up on it entirely.
    • After the release of the first game, the fan base was basically split into two camps. Some wanted them to take the game in a more serious direction and put some focus on the wrestling. Others liked the over all simple goofiness of the storyline and wanted more like that. The sequel, unfortunately, satisfied neither group.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Brainwashed-Aigle-turned-Killer-Khan: "Bloody Shadow bad lady. She steals goats!", Killer Khan: "Makoto ugly goat."
  • Ear Worm: Surprisingly, quite a few of the theme songs, especially considering almost all of them are composed by Konami's hyper-competent band of musicians, including Sota Fujimori, Akira Yamaoka and Michiru Yamane. Some of the menu/match BG Ms can get stuck in your head, too. Also, for better or worse, the fact that every single woman in these two games calls out their finishers in voices that get increasingly more annoying the more times a match finishers get performed.
    • You can disable voices, in RR1 at least. I'm pointing this out here because an incredible amount of fans seem to be unaware of that.
  • Excuse Plot: Described in the intro.
  • Narm: More than you can shake a set of boob tassels at.
  • The Scrappy: That stupid bear that we got as a "bonus" playable character in RRXX instead of more match types or a better create-a-wrestler feature.
  • So Bad It's Good: Story mode. " Cowgirl has teats more magnificent than my sheep!".
  • Values Dissonance: Queens Match mode in RRXX, a match type where the losing girl suffered a penalty. For example, having to sweep around a swimming pool with a push broom. And then the girls would react to these penalties various ways, like getting embarrassed and blushing. Japan considered this erotica. Americans in general considered this creepy Fan Disservice to the point that it is believed it actually did significant damage to the game's sales in America.
