Sandmaennchen

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Stop Motion animation of "good night" children's stories, featuring a little sand man.

Had different versions on both sides of the Iron Curtain that divided Germany. The Eastern one continues to air as was featured in the movie Good Bye, Lenin!. (It was also an astonishing hit with Swedish children in the 1970s. A lot of middle-aged people are still able to hum its theme music.)

Still runs on the German kids' channel, KI.KA. (Kinderkanal). This channel is jokingly suspected a GDR propaganda channel and East-German espionage x-mitter to this very day (also because it tends to show a Russian, Czech, GDR, Bulgarian, Polish, etc. Fairy Tale adaption from the 60s, 70s and 80s on each Sunday.)
