  • It was mentioned that Elizabeta won a pulitzer prize for writing a book called, "Pride and Prejudice and Pimp Soul Reapers". "Pride and Prejudice and Pimp Soul Reapers" is another fanfic by Oxenstierna D. Yuki-Rin.
  • After Crocodile rejects him from marrying Aki, Shizuo wonders why he can't have a girlfriend who lives in Canada.
  • Roy thinks that Shizuo's penpal is Kanye West.


Chapter Two

  • Two of the employees at the restaurant Shizuo works at are Temari and Adelheid Suzuki.
  • Kida sings a rendition of Peter's rendition of Rock Lobster. He even tells Shizuo that he'll be okay, just like Cleveland.

Chapter Three

  • Gintoki mentions that one of his plans for the night was to watch anime whose mangas were serialized in Shounen Jump.
  • America plans on watching Jackass while England goes to Crocodile's dinner party.
  • Shizuo and Izaya get some coffee at Starbucks after seeing a movie. This is a refrence to the Charlie the Unicorn parody "Charlie teh Unicorn".
  • The books Izaya says that Elizabeta has in her personal libray include Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Crossing California, The Joy Luck Club, the entire Harry Potter series, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, the entire Fullmetal Alchemist series, the entire One Piece series up to the end of the Impel Down arc, all of the Baccano! light novels, and The Princess Diaries.

  • Shizuo's ringtone is the Yuya Matsushita song Trust Me, which is the ending theme to the anime Shizuo is from.
  • Shizuo and Izaya go to Hot Topic to hide from America and Roy before hiding in Abercrombie and Fitch. They even disguise themselves as shirtless mannequins at Abercrombie and Fitch, which refrences the number of photographs of shirtless males the stores have.
  • America complains that Roy gets to search for Shizuo and Izaya on the mall level with Hot Topic and the Hello Kitty store.
  • Shizuo, Izaya, and America run through the Apple store, where Estonia tries to get them to try out the new iPad.
