Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is a Teen Idol best known for playing Alex Russo on the Disney Channel Kid Com Wizards of Waverly Place. She has also starred in Another Cinderella Story, Princess Protection Program, Ramona and Beezus, Monte Carlo, the Hotel Transylvania franchise, Spring Breakers and Getaway.

She's a singer (2009-present), actress (2002-present) and businesswoman (2008-present).

Like Miley Cyrus, Disney has built an entire franchise around Selena. She has even branched out into music by starting her own band, Selena Gomez & The Scene. Their first album, Kiss & Tell, has been certified gold. The follow-up album, A Year Without Rain was released on September 21, 2010. When The Sun Goes Down was released on June 28, 2011. The band being on hiatus since 2012, she is focusing on her solo career which had one album with Disney before changing labels for Interscope.

She produced the controversial Netflix series Thirteen Reasons Why.

- This one has more to do with Executive Meddling than anything. Originally, Selena just wanted to be part of a band and be the lead singer, but Hollywood Records wanted to capitalize on her popularity and reduced "The Scene" to little more than a backup band. In fact, the "Scene" part stayed simply because she insisted in it.
Fake American: Selena is from the US, but she's definitely not a New Yorker like Alex Russo is. Normally, it wouldn't matter, but the location is often important to the plot of the show and it's a bit jarring to hear her southern drawl come out when some of her co-starts are putting on New York accents.

Honor Before Reason: After damaging her vocal cords, she begged her doctor to give her more medicine to last through the scheduled shows despite the risk of permanent damage. Older Than She Looks: She's almost 20 but still looks below that, which can lead to some...odd vibes. Take Another Cinderella Story, in which her love interest is played by a 25-year-old actor while Selena was only 15, and since she was older than she looked even then...see for yourself.
Overshadowed by Awesome:
- Justin, being a good boyfriend, often hangs out backstage at her concerts to support her. This trope kicks in where sometimes more fans wait to mob his car leaving or anywhere he's supposed to be than attend her concert.
- One time he showed up to wear the T-shirt with her on it, give support from backstage, and quietly leave. Some people were "dissapointed" that all they saw of him was when his SUV got mobbed when he tried to leave inconspicously.
- Vice Versa to those who are very fond of Selena and don't think about or particularly care about Justin despite their relationship.
