  • Beam Me Up, Scotty: Matador is known for saying, "I challenge you to a duel!". However, contrary to popular belief, that's not the whole sentence. The full sentence is, "I challenge you to a duel, to see which of us is truly worthy of the candelabra...".
  • Fan Nickname:
    • The main character is called Naoki Kashima in the radio plays based on the game.
    • The phenomenon of Mot spamming Beast Eye to give itself a ludicrous number of turns and then using Megidolaon repeatedly to nuke the player's party senseless is known by Japanese players as "Mot's Drama".
  • No Export for You: Of the three editions of the game, only Maniax made the cut outside of Japan.
  • Sequel First: This was the first mainline Shin Megami Tensei game to be released outside of Japan. And even then, it was the Updated Re-release that made the export, rather than the vanilla edition.
