• Ugly Cute: Johnny 5.
• Unfortunate Implications: Johnny flirts heavily with Stephanie (the only person on which he can rely,) who ends up getting together (and presumably spending the rest of her life with) Newton. If you consider Newton to be Johnny's "parent", then Johnny was flirting with his future step-mom. Not to mention they also take him to Montana and practically raise him there as if he's their child. Yikes.
  • The fact that Johnny is a non-humanoid robot seriously mitigates the potential squick factor.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: The animatronics used for Johnny Five are still quite impressive, and they reportedly took up nearly all of the film's special effects budget on their own.
• The Woobie: Johnny 5, at times, particularly the scenes following him making the connection between "disassemble" and "dead".
