Snow White and the Huntsman/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: More like "And The Fandom Was Created" with the impressive first trailer.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: "Breath of Life".
  • Evil Is Sexy: Queen Ravenna, played by the ever-beautiful Charlize Theron.
  • Fridge Brilliance: The Evil Queen's beauty is external, and constantly called into focus by Ravenna herself (internal), while Snow White's beauty is of the "inner beauty" variety, and brought up by others (external).
    • The fact that the voice of the Mirror is male. Ravenna hates all men save her brother, but in the end, she still internally seeks approval from them by her imaginations of the Mirror. It's implied that it's all in her head rather than an actual magic mirror, which makes it all the more clear that she's damaged goods and more than a little insane.
  • Informed Attractiveness: Snow White is played by Kristen Stewart, who isn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination, it's just a little hard to swallow her being called 'The Fairest of Them All' when she has Charlize freaking Theron to compete with.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: After a fashion, for those who may watch for the Queen, the Huntsman, the dark fantasy, the action scenes, etc. - with Snow White low on the list of priorities due to the casting.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Queen Ravenna herself. Holy hell. She's genuinely creepy as hell at times and one sequence involving her standing in the fire causing her flesh to be burned off is disturbing.
    • Though reaction to Charlize Theron in the role would indicate a lot of Nightmare Fetishists.
    • The dark forest itself.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Good luck talking about this movie to anyone without them bringing up the infamous and highly-publicized affair between Kristin Stewart and director Rupert Sanders.
  • So Okay It's Average
  • Squick: Good Lord, there are examples everywhere. The Queen's creepy relationship with her brother, the Queen's creepy relationship with Snow White, the scene where she eats the raw hearts of dead birds, the scene after she poisons Snow White and all her disgusting dead crows slowly ooze together to form her body. By far, the creepiest moment has to be when the Queen tricks Snow White into eating a poisoned apple by pretending to be William and allowing Snow White to kiss her. Even if you claim Foe Yay, it's downright gross.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: Special mention goes to the dark forest, the glass soldiers, and the dwarves.
  • What the Hell Casting Agency: Many people are wondering at the movie making Kristen Stewart out to be prettier than Charlize Theron, let alone "the fairest of them all".
