  • Before Socrates began pestering everyone about their knowledge, Chaerephon, a friend of his, allegedly visited the oracle of Delphi and asked if there was anyone in Greece wiser than Socrates. The oracle, who was notorious for giving long, rambling answers that often required an interpreter to puzzle out, simply responded "No."
  • Socrates willingly staying in Athens for his execution and having absolutely no fear or rage against the people that sentenced him to death. This man rivaled Jesus for his dignity and peace in the face of death!
