Sonic.exe is a creepypasta written by JC the Hyena on August 2011, about a man who plays a haunted version of Sonic the Hedgehog and witnesses the horror of X.
Originally published on the Fandom Creepypasta Wiki, it was moved to the Trollpasta Wiki.
The story inspired many clones and fan game recreations, the most notable one was created by MY5TCrimson, available on Game Jolt and itch.io. A fan-made spin-off to the story, Sally.exe, was also made into a game by MY5TCrimson.
An official sequel, Round 2, was published in 2013. An unfinished remake of the story by the same author was published in 2017.
