Space Station 13/YMMV

Broken Base: There are a few communities for Space Station 13. The main two are the Goonservers and Android Data's servers, both of which hate the other with a passion. The Bay12 community fits somewhere in the equivalent of Switzerland
- Lately, it's split into two factions: the Goonservers, and the other public servers, these being LLA, D 2 K 5, /tg/'s servers, and Conco's server. Lately, though, Conco has gone mad with power, and the others are never close to the amount of people that the goon server has. (Bay12 still exists, but they have gone into hiding.)
- A few individuals from the original "anti-Goonstation" efforts wanted to (re)join the Goonstation dev team after the Atmos overhaul in 2010. It didn't work.
- Why this is listed as YMMV is a mystery. Ask any server, they'll give you a detailed list of reasons as to why some other server sucks.
Mary Tzu: Goonstation had the T.U.R.D.S., which started as a project to make an exclusive elite security team controlled by a whitelist of usernames hand-picked by the admins. Their actual implementation turned out to be an unstoppable army of baboon-faced heavily-armored mooks with obnoxious Counter-Strike guns and an implant lock system that was imposed on almost every interactive object in the game. The average number of successful traitors rapidly shot down to 0.
- The idea was reworked into Nanotrasen Enforcers who eventually had the same fate. Instead, the Head of Security position is now whitelisted.
- The coder responsible for TURDS was immediately kicked off the team once it was discovered that they basically coded BFGs for themselves, and spent every round looking up the round's antagonists then latejoining and instakilling them with aforementioned BFGs.
- This has all recently been replaced with the revamped Head of Security job, a whitelisted Security Officer with access to everything and an arsenal to boot.
Memetic Molester: Amy Lessen on /tg/station. But only for aliens!
Paranoia Fuel: Players tend to be incredibly paranoid, suspecting everyone of being a traitor, griefer, or just an idiot who thinks the game is meant to be played as arena deathmatch. Cue violence.
- Try standing right next to someone for an extended length of time and see if you don't get beaten up. Personal space is in full force here.
- Some extremely paranoid players will immediately suicide/space their own character if they suspect a round will get derailed by the "admin bus".
The Scrappy: The assistant job, in general. This is mostly because, due to the fact that assistants have no set duties, they mostly wander around the station and mess around with people who are trying to actually do their jobs.
- The clown is also seen as this, due to some players thinking it's basically a license to do whatever they wish and get away with it.
Squick: The Goonservers are very good at this, featuring such ways to die as being force-fed poo until the toxic damage kills you, having your butt surgically removed and worn like a hat, or exploding into Ludicrous Gibs from contracting GBS.
They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Almost always happens on the Goonstation servers, especially if it's a bugfix or nerfing a griefmonger feature like Chemistry.
- Also, every suggestion thread on a Goonstation forum will be shot down from someone giving a copy paste answer related to this. This is not to say that some brilliant ideas haven't passed, just that the author had to take far too much time to bullet proof it.
  - Hilariously, three notorious cases have been banned from the Goonstation forums to avoid this type of reaction.
