Amazing Spider-Man/Peter Parker

Who am I to refuse a lovely lady? Lead on, MW.

"Mainstream" Spidey (or the closest character to it) and the one who makes the most use of his webbing - much of his fighting style consists of grabbing nearby objects with weblines and using them to pound on his enemies.

• Combat Tentacles: In a departure from most depictions of Spider-Man, the Amazing version uses his webs as flails, usually by web-grabbing boulders (out of somewhere...) and slinging them around.
• Deadpan Snarker
• Dishing Out Dirt: A lot of his more powerful moves involve rocks or boulders.
• Genre Savvy: So much so that he predicts nearly every trap set up against him (given how long he's been in the business, this is understandable). Granted, he's never actually able to do anything about it, but the guy deserves credit for trying.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Neil Patrick Harris, who voiced Spidey in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series and might be more recognizable as Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother.
• Improvised Weapon
• Lightning Bruiser: Compared to the other versions, his fighting style moves him all over the place, making him hard to hit, and his attacks incorporate webbing as a weapon to have a really long reach and hit large groups of enemies multiple times very quickly.

Noir Spider-Man/Peter Parker

Say your prayers, punks. Here comes the Spider-Man.

This version of Spider-Man prefers to work at night, where he can hide in the shadows and pick his enemies off at his leisure. He can't take quite as much punishment as the others (hence the stealth), but can still go one-on-one with fragment-powered supervillains.

• Hey, It's That Voice!: Christopher Daniel Barnes, the voice of Spidey from Spider-Man: The Animated Series as well as Prince Eric.
• Vertical Kidnapping: One of his favorite tactics.
• You Killed My Uncle: The Vulture killed Uncle Ben... and not just killed.

2099 Spider-Man/Miguel O'Hara

Keep the battle tips coming, lady. It's like having Sun Tzu as a life coach!

The only Spider-Man in the game who isn't an incarnation of Peter Parker.

• Hey, It's That Voice!: Dan Gilvezan, the voice of Spidey in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. Alternatively, he was also the voice of G1 Bumblebee.

Ultimate Spider-Man/Peter Parker

See you later, older and less-cool versions of me.

The youngest of the four. Madame Web provides him with (a new version of?) the black suit, which she telepathically keeps in check so he doesn't go all Evil Costume Switch.

• Butt Monkey: Out of all the Spider-Men in the game, he gets the worst treatment.
• Combat Tentacles / Lovecraftian Superpower: He'd typically operate as Amazing Spider-Man-lite otherwise.

• Hey, It's That Voice!: Josh Keaton, the voice of Spidey on The Spectacular Spider-Man

• Unstoppable Rage: An ability from the symbiote suit.

Kraven The Hunter/Sergei Kravinoff

• Badass Boast: Does this before each of his boss battles.
• Bad Boss: He's not above killing his own henchmen to get to Spider-Man.

The Juggernaut/Cain Marko

• The Juggernaut: Duh!
• Shout-Out/Continuity Nod: Juggy's traditionally an X-Men villain. His appearance in the game is most likely a nod to his legendary first encounter with Spidey in Amazing #229 & #230.

Mysterio/Quentin Beck

This is what REAL power feels like!

• Big Bad: He's the main villain of the game.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: David Kaye, the voice of Electro in Spider Man Friend Or Foe, Professor Xavier and Apocalypse on X-Men: Evolution, Iron Man on Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, and Captain America and Nick Fury in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. However, you may also recall his voice from the Beast era and the Unicron Trilogy of Transformers as he is using his Megatron voice from those series for Mysterio.
• Large Ham: Wouldn't be Mysterio otherwise—and as noted above David Kaye is using his Megatron voice, so he's no stranger to Large Hams.
• Light Is Not Good: He uses the power of light against Noir Spidey in the first phase of his boss battle.
• Master of Illusion: The fragments promote him to Reality Warper status.

Noir Villains

Hammerhead/Joseph Lorenzini

• Badass in a Nice Suit
• Bad Boss: He tells his men to their faces that he has no faith in them.
• Canon Foreigner: For the Noir Universe.
• Dangerously Genre Savvy: He knows his men will fail, fights dirty, and generally prepares for the worst.
• Guns Akimbo: He does this with machine guns.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: John Dimaggio, who voiced Hammerhead (and Sandman) before in The Spectacular Spider-Man
• I Surrender, Suckers: Headbutts Spider-Man after faking a surrender.
• The Starscream: He wants to overthrow the Goblin.
• Use Your Head

Vulture/Adrian Toomes

It's time for the Vulture to FEAST!

• Bad Boss: He threatens to eat his own men should they fail.
• Bald of Evil
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Steve Blum, who voiced the Green Goblin and the Chameleon in The Spectacular Spider-Man. Here, he sounds like a psychotic, cannibalistic Guilmon.
  • Considering he was also the voice of Guilmon in the dub of Digimon Tamers, and the near mindless Megidramon, who was an Ax Crazy version of Guilmon at Mega level, this is more or less justified.
• I'm a Humanitarian: In Noir's backstory, he ate and killed Uncle Ben and as noted before, he threatened to eat his own men should they fail.

The Goblin/Norman Osborn

I have this unfortunate tendency to... kill things when I'm bored.

• Ax Crazy
• Big Bad: Of the Noir universe.
• Bad Boss: Like the other two, he's not above threatening his henchmen, and during the boss fight, where mooks appear, he won't give them a sign he's about to attack.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Along with Kraven, Jim Cummings provides the Goblin's voice.

2099 Villains

Hobgoblin

Call me the Hobgoblin! Every Spider-Man needs one.

Scorpion/Kron Stone

Will hurt others if followed!

• Anti-Villain: While he wasn't a nice guy before he became Scorpion, it's made incredibly clear that he just wants to be human again, nothing else.
• Beware My Stinger Tail
• Canon Immigrant: Given the 2099 universe is based on the classic version, the fact they opted to make Kron Stone Scorpion ala Timestorm: 2009-2099 rather than Venom as in the classic 2099 universe could count as this.
  • Lampshaded in the loading screen comments, which theorizes that they are either one-in-the-same or that "Kron Stone" is a common name in 2099.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: John Kassir, a.k.a. The Cryptkeeper and Deadpool in X-Men Legends: The Rise of Apocalypse and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series.
• Scary Scorpions: Both him and his spawn.

Dr. Octopus/Dr. Serena Patel

I could kill you or I could explain everything and then kill you... I think I'll just kill you.

• Affirmative Action Legacy: A female successor to the male Doctor Octopus.
• Ascended Fangirl: Serena's in-game bio states that she idolized Otto Octavius, hence why she emulates his appearance and tentacles.
• Big Bad: Of the 2099 universe.
• Combat Tentacles
• Canon Foreigner: Like Hobgoblin, Doc Ock never had a Legacy Character in the 2099 universe.
• Dangerously Genre Savvy
• Expy: Seems to be one of Carolyn Trainer, Otto Octavius's short-lived successor during The Clone Saga.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Tara Strong, whose past credits include Stalker with a Crush on Spidey Goth Christina on Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.
• Plug N Play Technology: Uses her tentacles to connect herself to giant mechanical arms and her energy reactor.
• Stephen Ulysses Perhero: Not as obvious as her predecessor, but "Serena" is a homonym of "cirrina".

• Barbie Doll Anatomy: As far as the viewers are concerned. Spidey apparently isn't so lucky ("Oh, dude, pants! No one wants to see your junk!").

• Giant Hands of Doom: The final boss battle.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Thomas F. Wilson, who voiced Stan Carter in The Spectacular Spider-Man, though others will probably remember him as Biff Tannen from Back to The Future and the voice of Matt Bluestone on Gargoyles

Deadpool/Sergeant "Wadey" Wilson

You're going to have to tangle with my fans.

• Breaking the Fourth Wall: A staple for the character.
• Composite Character: He's basically the classic Deadpool in Ultimate Deadpool's costume.
• Doppelganger Attack: His fragment power.
• Fluffy the Terrible: One of his goons is named Beauregard.
• I Surrender, Suckers: Claims to give Spider-Man the fragment, but it turns out to be a prop and he decided to use the fragment's power for his boss battle.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Nolan North, reprising the role from Hulk Vs, and also Hank Pym in Ultimate Avengers. Funnily enough, one of his goons is voiced by John Kassir, who voiced 'Pool himself in the second X-Men Legends game and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series.
• Large Ham
• Moment Killer: He has a tendency to do this.
• Motor Mouth
• The Television Talks Back: In his intro and during his level.

Carnage

RRAAAAAGHH!!!

• Combat Tentacles
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Fred Tatasciore, who voiced Carnage in Spider Man Friend Or Foe and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Though in those games, he was Cletus Kassidy and he actually talked.
• Knight of Cerebus: Carnage has what is probably the most downright terrifying level in the game, has no humorous quirks (Electro, at least, is an entertaining Large Ham and Deadpool is just funny), and is generally the only opponent Spider Man has less funny comments toward.
