- Complete Monster: (Warning: serious spoilers here) "Lucas". Not only did he deliberately blow up the British Embassy in Dakar, but he also killed the real Lucas North (a good friend of his who was about to join MI 5) in cold blood for a passport home. His ruthless manner towards these events added to his desperate measures to keep control make him a very definite Complete Monster.
- Well, he was technically a Retired Monster. But then Vaughn came along, and one personality disappeared to make way for the other.
- This troper disagrees. Complete Monster does not simply mean 'has crossed the Moral Event Horizon', it means, as the name suggests, someone who does that without showing any remorse or other redeeming qualities. "Lucas" did show remorse and confusion; not enough to prevent him being extremely ruthless, maybe, but some, nevertheless.
- Funny Moments: "Are you a Nazi, madam?"
- Every. Single. Thing. about Ros's scene with Prince Khaldoun in 5.06. From admitting a shameful lesbian porn star past in order to get her hands on his laptop to flashing a pair of bodyguards to explain the noises resulting from his adverse reaction to the knockout drugs she'd dosed him with.
- Heartwarming Moments: One in particular comes to mind in Season 8...

- Hilarious in Hindsight: Connie's apparent inability to remember the current name of the Russian security service becomes really ironic when she turns out to be the Russian mole.
- Iron Woobie: Harry. Specifically; having friends and colleagues frequently die, repeatedly being rejected by Ruth, having certain close friends and trusted allies betray him (and in one case having to kill them - Series 9 episode 1). Yes, Peter Firth is the master of sad and tired expressions.
- Moment of Awesome: The "Fuck you, you death-worshipping fascist!" speech, which is also a Tear Jerker.
- Narm: An early series 8 episode involves a banker targeted by a conspiracy, which murders his girlfriend and her son when they break into their flat. The team keeps this secret from him until he learns the truth from a news report and makes the most hilarious face ever seen on television which undermines an otherwise very dramatic scene.
- Shocking Swerve: As mentioned on the main page, Juliet Shaw's Face Heel Turn that put her in charge of series six's season-long antagonists, Yalta, who were staunchly anti-American to the point of supplying Iran with the components for nuclear weapons just to keep the US in check. Besides having been shown to have strong pro-American sympathies in series four, Shaw wasn't present in series six until the reveal in episode eight (having been Commuting on a Bus with handicap access since the series five premiere), which prevented any meaningful build to the moment. Didn't help that her paralysis was also retconned in this episode.
- Tear Jerker: Zoe's departure from the series.
- Fiona's death was a tearjerker that carried on for episode after episode, as we also saw Adam's ongoing grief, fear for Wes, and struggle to tell Wes that his mother is dead.
