Star Ocean: Till the End of Time/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Music of Awesome: The Divine Spirit of Language. Doubles as Autobots Rock Out. Also Highbrow, an impressive, 10-minutes long piece of art. It is to be expected when Motoi Sakuraba is doing the composing.
    • Hell, even the normal battle theme is made of win! It's refreshing that despite all the boring RPG battle themes out there, this one can get you pumped up for each and every battle.
    • Mission to the Deep Space the song that plays in a post-game secret dungeon
  • Die for Our Ship: Sophia receives this treatment most of the time from fans that wish to pair Fayt with someone else.
  • Draco in Leather Pants: Many fanfiction revolving around Albel tend to downplay his negative personality traits.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Albel is by far the most popular character in the game. When having to choose between who will be your 7th party member, many people will choose him.
  • Fridge Brilliance: The fact that the names are so awesome McCool can be chalked up to the fact that it's an RPG! Think about some of the names you give your RPG characters.
    • The infamous Shocking Swerve also neatly explains the alarming frequency of Human Aliens in the setting. The designers of the Eternal Sphere would want their players to be able to relate to and connect with their characters. And for most players, that means a character that looks at least mostly human.
  • Game Breaker: Maria's Energy Burst.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Convictors. Even at a lower level, they seem so much easier than Enforcers or Proclaimers, no doubt due to their major multiple hit attacks being on 'weak' settings. And yet, in the cutscene after the boss battle, the characters comment on them being so much stronger than the previous threat.
  • Ho Yay: Albel and Fayt, especially if you get their ending together.
  • Les Yay: Nel and Clair. At one point they share a hug that's especially played up for its les!yayness in the manga adaptation.
  • Moe Moe: Peppita, Sophia.
  • The Scrappy: Both of Nel's subordinates: Tynave and Farleen. Their English voices do not help!
    • Tynave's voice is perfectly fine, but Farleen's... you'd swear the air of Elicoor II was full of helium.
  • Shocking Swerve: If you've played it, or even read a few spoilers, you'll know.
  • That One Level: Shrine of Kaddan BOTH times!
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Many fans of the series, especially of The Second Story, hate Till the End of Time for the changes it made to the item creation system and other aspects, besides the infamous plot twist. To be fair, most of the hate is not due to the fact that it was changed, but due to the new systems being unwieldy, overly dependent on randomness, insanely expensive, and very frustrating.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Both the original set-up and the infamous plot twist were wasted; the latter might have fared much better if used in a different game or simply used for something, like having an ally turn out to be a Player Character Mole or examining the impact common MMORPG behavior would actually have on its universe...
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: More than one person has been confused by Albel's gender. Must be that sarong.
