Star Trek: Phoenix

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Star Trek: Phoenix is a fan-made series that takes place 35 years after the destruction of Romulus in the reboot film. This puts it smack dab in the middle of the Star Trek Online universe, or just immediately after.

The series focuses on the adventures of the crew of the new Cool Starship USS Phoenix (NCX-101138) under the command of Captain Bryce Avari. Produced by Temporal Studios, this series of Webisodes features movie-quality special effects, sets and makeup, and is acted and filmed by professionals. Its official site can be found here.

As of January 2012, there is only one episode: the pilot, Cloak and Dagger Part 1, available on Youtube.

Tropes used in Star Trek: Phoenix include:
  • Adaptation Expansion: The uniforms and other props have been redesigned to avoid copyright infringement.
  • Badass: Most of the main characters and Starfleet in general have taken a level in badass.
  • Cool Starship: The Phoenix is a 1,400-meter-long capital ship which can use both warp drive and artificial wormholes. And is pictured here.
  • Development Hell: It's been two years since the first episode premiered. Since the episodes are not for profit as yet, the team needs donations to build the sets for the show.
  • Shout-Out: All over the place, there are shout-outs to TOS (The McCoy trading barbs with The Spock), TNG (Huge starship with civilian personnel on board), DS9 (Wormholes and Special forces called SABRE) and the new reboot (bald tattoo-covered Romulans).
