Star Trek Deep Space Nine Relaunch/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Alas, Poor Villain: The novels repeatedly try to invoke this on behalf of the Parasites, while simultaneously Death Eating the Trill. However, considering that the Parasites gleefully and hatefully commit crimes that go beyond Mind Rape and Grand Theft Me, it comes off as rather ridiculous.
  • Complete Monster: Grauq, the Chalnoth Bounty Hunter in Warpath.
  • Dude, Not Funny: Zek's senility is seemingly Played for Laughs. It's a bit difficult to find his inability to focus on or remember anything for more than a few minutes at a time amusing if you've ever known someone going through the late stages of dementia.
  • Moral Event Horizon: After spending all of the Left Hand of Destiny duology dancing around it, Gothmara crosses it after mutating her own son into a Hur'q.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Kurlan Takers of Gist.
  • Tear Jerker: Shar and his zhavey reconciling in Worlds of Deep Space Nine: Andor:

"it is not in our people's nature to be alone".

    • Thriss' suicide.
    • Stessie dying, and her final goodbye with Glessin.
    • Garak: "There is no home anymore! Can't you see, it's gone!"
  • The Woobie: Quite possibly Taran'atar, of all people. Also, things often go badly for Kira. But she keeps on trucking: an Iron Woobie.
